Later he donated it to the high school for study, they cut it in half to show the interior.
What most people don't know is that typical Wasp and Hornet spray contains very little active pesticide ingredients. Most of them depend on highly volatile chemicals such as methylene chloride or tri-chloroethane which have a very low boiling point. A wasp's normal body temperature is around 106 to 108 degrees and the chemical evaporates very fast and causes a cooling effect. The wasp dies from the drastically reduced body temperature.

Also, isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle. The stronger, the better. I found by complete accident that it's effective in killing wasps almost immediately. I'm a housekeeper for vacation rentals, and one unit I cleaned had a nest somewhere close by and a couple wasps were trapped in the upstairs bathroom. Didn't have anything else other than my isopropyl on hand at the time, didn't want to get stung, and found out how effective it is in instant wasp death. 😆
Soap products containing SLS (Sodium Laurel Sulfate) also work in a pump garden sprayer.. Beekeepers use 1 part rubbing alcohol to four parts water to do a mite test in a jar, also 1-1/2 Tablespoons Dawn per gallon kills bees dead, its the newest thing to replace rubbing alcohol because its cheap.
Purple power and water , 50/50 or even like 30% purple power is ok. I have a spray bottle to wipe hand prints and check gas lines for leaks on generators. You might be able to use a different spray nozzle to give you more of a stream rather than a wide stream. A stream would put out more glue more quickly. Maybe take the top off a wasp killer can... the glue uses more of a spray paint type nozzle.

1st video I've seen from this channel. Maybe you already have done it, but using expanding spray foam on one of those nests would be interesting to see. Would it fill the nest? Would they die from the heat created by the chemical reaction that causes the foam to expand?

Im a man of nature so I dont want them to suffer to long. Start whistling like Jack Nicholson on the shining as he slowly takes down the nest. Level savage lol. Awesome vid dude. Just need a microphone so when your far from the camera.
I wonder what kind of protection you were wearing while standing up near that nest. Sure, you trapped a lot of the wasps, but there were some flying around that could sting you. How did you keep them away? Last summer I had to deal with a nest of ground wasps (yellow jackets) in my front yard. I used a Toro plug-in electric leaf blower to deal with it. I put it in vacuum mode by attaching the wide tube to the intake and the collection bag on the output. Then I laid it on the ground near the nest. Its switch was on and it had a cord attached, but the other end of the cord was not plugged into an outlet. I used a long pole to push the leaf vacuum closer to the opening of the nest. When it was in the right place and the wasps were getting angry, I plugged in the cord. I let it run for a couple of hours. After that, the wasps were all gone, chopped up by the vacuum. I bet a similar technique could be used here. (I was inspired by @matthiaswandel's "wasp sucking machine".)
You should try getting aerosolized contact cement it comes out in a white stringy adhesive. It’s used a lot in countertop making. It would for sure prevent them from coming out of the nest as it would create kind of a white web over the opening which they would get stuck on.
@@zmadmaxz the contact cement that I am talking about comes out of the can differently I know that gorilla glue is a similar product. The stuff I am talking about has a different consistency to it, it is more stringy and “web like.” I used cans of it all the time when I used to build countertops.
Thanks for enjoying glue traps have been being used in pest control for over 100 years while spray adhesive seems cruel it’s no different then a common glue trap your just making the nest the glue trap. It really makes the removal much safer reducing the amount swarming drastically

I knew it was going to probably be a bad reaction based on that. His feet went numb after that, developed hives from the waist up, lips swelled up, then felt like he was going to pass out. All of this happened within 10 minutes. He was going to take a shower, but I told him no, that we were going to the hospital ER. So glad he listened because his blood pressure dropped, too and he became confused. Definitely not to be taken lightly.

The best parts of the video are his comments and whistling. It makes the whole thing a comedy routine.
Please also make a video using Fipronil which is ingredient in the Frontline spot-on anti-flea and tick applications you put on the fur of pets. Two drops of the stuff mixed with a few spoonful of catfood in a small tin hung in front of their nest will wipe out the whole poulation within half a day, they feed on the catfood, pass it on to the critters in the nest, the larvae etc. Amazing stuff

@MODTechWave sorry Not LOL

Me too has found one this summer as getting so many in back yard .
Could it be that they were away for a while? Or that they hadn't gone to that side of the house for awhile?
The little buggers work fast. That could be only a week or two of construction, and a lot of people don't tend to look upwards.
As someone who is highly allergic to every stinging thing, this is VERY useful information!!
I can’t get that close, but I can now show someone exactly how to do it! THANKS!!!
I am amazed that we have people that actually enjoy this work (humming songs, whistling while he works,). Truly providing a very important service that not many of us could do! Thank God he makes people like this, without them we would all be screwed!!!
Im sure you know this, but the bald faced hornet is one of the most aggressive in the world. Nasty buggers that will go after any living thing in its path! Awesome video!
Rattled a nest with my power pruner back in 2020 and they chased me almost half a mile. when I get stung by yellow jackets I only have to back up a few feet and they ignore me.

I gotta remember this one!
I do carry wasp spray , but since I found purple does the trick I use that like 80% of the time.
If you've ever gotten some of that stuff in a cut you know how bad it burns. Imagine being thrown in a pool of it (wasps).
All great ideas! I use brake clean because it's handy at work. They drop right to the ground.
I would go for instant death, even for a wasp, good tip thanks.

Me too!
Pest Sales Inspector here, I JUST got a bald hornet nest down a few weeks ago. Now I wish i had Gorilla glue instead of Wasp Freeze ii lol
You might be able to use a different spray nozzle to give you more of a stream rather than a wide stream. A stream would put out more glue more quickly. Maybe take the top off a wasp killer can... the glue uses more of a spray paint type nozzle.
A drinking-straw type of thing maybe. I just picked up a new can of WD 40, it has a flip-out hollow tube, bout 6inches long.
Interesting screen name btw 👍
You'll have about three sprays until that would be clogged.
@@SagaciousDjinn I was thinking you'd just stick the hose in and let it go until empty. But yes, probably just as good to use expanding foam.

Very interesting, I'd love to see you try spray foam adhesive, it's not the same as expanding foam, its very similar looking, and sprays the same, but it doesn't expand as much but is very sticky, sprays out very fast and sets in 10 minutes. You have to buy the can then you need a particular gun to use it with.
