- Arguably one of the most talented players of the 2021 NBA Draft, with constant Jokic comparisons, 15 Players were still selected before Alperen Sengun, who was drafted 16th overall by the Houston Rockets.
So what happened to those players? And how are their NBA careers going so far?

The European especially Turkish fans told you that he had to be in top 3 picks but nobody listened. NBA teams always underestimate European players, we saw that before. They missed Jokic, Giannis, Sabonis, Doncic and Sengun. They had to be chosen far before their draft rank.
doncic was drafted 3rd overall in fairness of his case, although it’s absolutely ridiculous that ayton and bagley of all people got drafted before him.
Doncic was literally dominating eurolague before coming to nba and he was under 20. Bc of that reason only he should've been 1st overall easily. Being 3rd overall doesn't mean he wasn't a slept pick. Nba teams don't take risks when it comes to european players lets face it @@qxx1xx
Jokic, Giannis and Sabonis are terrible examples, maybe they could've been drafted slightly higher but coming into the league they were not the players that they are now and took many years to flourish into good players, unless you had a time machine you couldn't have known! even the nuggets didn't pick him with their first pick
@@jeremyb5862Just like most american prospects? All players need time to improve, but when it comes to european players everyone’s acting like they became good all of a sudden. U draft players based on their potential and develop them. Thats 99% of the time the case, only a couple come in to the league like bron, kd and others

Man leading up to this draft a lot of youtubers were posting videos about Sengun as a sleeper. It just seemed like a no brainer to me that he was going to be a star. MVP of a mens league at 18. The last teenagers to win MVP's in Europe were Jokic and Luka. I didn't have time to watch the draft but as soon as I checked it later that day all I wanted to see was OKC drafts Sengun. And that's exactly what it said 😁 Followed by "and then traded to the Houston Rockets" 😭 Still cant believe we didn't draft him. Especially with all the non US players we have drafted in recent years and our preference for high upside unicorn type players. Just imagine a frontcourt of Chet and Sengun 🤯
And that man's league is Turkish League, definitely one of top 3 euro leagues, where there are teams like Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahce who are both Euroleague winners. Alperen got that MVP award with Besikas, a mid contender team. That's very respectable.
The team is dragging him down, no one can shoot, his assist stats have dropped because the team can't score

Other way to look at it is that this boosted his minutes, numbers and overall performance because they rely on him more, so i think it’s fair to see this young team as an opportunity for him to be the leader they lack. If he got to a stacked team maybe he wouldn’t perform the way he does
Looking at the draft with the advantage of witnessing these players in actual NBA environment, I would draft Sengun within the first 3 positions.

the only teams that fumbled their pick by not picking Sengun were the Spurs,Warriors (2) and the Wizards. This draft was so deep that you can make a case for every other teams front office making the right pick
Really hurts as a spurs fan, imagine victor and sengun together and sengun didn't get good until this year so they still would have gotten the 1st pick in 2023 draft

Sengün is amazing now, but there weren't that many bad choices (Bouknight, Mitchell, Kisbert) among the picks before him at that time. Even Suggs is amazing now

Even though it still remains to be seen if Barnes, Seguin or Mobley and Cunningham will make that leap into a top 15+ player this is one ridiculously deep draft class. The amount of impact players from this year is crazy.
So basically he could be ballin for orlando with Wagner and Banchero if this draft took place right now. That was my take from this video, although he could swap places with JG on the draft that would be reasonable.

As a Rockets fan I was always more excited for Sengun then green. Ive always been more of a fan of the big then the other positions. Yao and Hakeem being 2 of my favorites. Wish we had Dwight longer with us. Angry when we decided to really have no true Center in 2020.

I remember being so pissed when my Spurs drafted Primo. I was hoping for Sengun so bad. I mean a foreign player under Pop's leadership? Psh! That's Spurs' bread & butter. I could see the upside in him too. And look what getting Primo got us...

If you were to consider that Rockets picked Sengun at #2 and Green at #16, you could say that they absolutely killed in that draft.

Green would've been drafted at #3 if rockets didn't draft him but I wish they hadn't drafted him at all. He's very detrimental to the team's success and chemistry.

The moment you come across videos about what happened to players drafted before you, you know you made it in the NBA !
We always know what he would do and his capability because in Turkey basketball super league he was mvp when he was between 17 and 18 years old and you could easily understand he had very high basketball iq comparing himself to the other experienced point gaurds having high iq so this is not shock for ourselves. We have estimated he would be allstar and mvp. What was shock was its draft order.

Sengun was big mobile back then and growing. Now he is more mobile and still growing. Thats one of the biggest differences. He could play before, but now he uses his strengths well. Not to mention Ime goes through Sengun and Houston are flourishing. The idiot before was told to and he didnt

Kemba Walker was a top guy on a 7-59 team, and he was an all star starter not too long ago. Cade after missing a full season already looks like a top 50-60 player even with this terrible team. Could anyone win with Killian Hayes and Isiah Livers starting along side them?
