It didn't, it was a stat that allowed you to do certain things more quickly, and get more rewards in quests. That's it, it was an incredibly stupid idea for a skill.
I'm glad it's gone.
+Erik Cobra I think he meant that the whole series was generally dumbed down in fallout 4 and speech was one of the features that was dumbed down. You're right about speech not being able to make the game more complex, but dialogue was more interesting in the older games. Some of the dialogue was more interesting if you had high speech. I like Fallout 4, but having a little yellow/orange/red word that says persuade/romance/walk away/no/lie/etc. is pretty dumb in itself. That's just my opinion though.
+Erik Cobra Speech and the other removed skills were there to do many, many things. It allowed for more costumization in character development, making the games more RPG-like.What do you want your character to be? A brute with big muscles that wrecks everyone with his fists? A master marksman? An intelligent speaker that talks his way out of a lot of situations? Or a skilled merchant perhaps? you can see where this is going. In Fallout 4 you got a dialogue wheel copied straight from Bioware games but somehow is even more shitty, because you don't even know what your character will say when you pick and for the most part it offers the *illusion* of chocice
Tried the game for a bit but I got bored, maybe I'll return to it after mods make it a couple times better. Hopefully. For now it's nothing but a repetitive FPS with a shitty story and dialogue wheel, grindy a garbage collector mechanic and to top it off it has the most frustrating and useless base building of all time.

If you like it that's fine everyone has opinions but I think it's pretty bad. Granted, I haven't finished watching it (I'm on episode 2) but it's very bad so far. I heard some people say the first 2 episodes are meh and it doesn't get going til episode 3. Hopefully those people are right and the show will be great after this point, but I really doubt it.

Vault 69 is an actual vault in the fallout universe though, it was inhabited only by 9999 women and 1 man or the other way around, I can't remember.

Really wish there was more freedom to be a raider character in Fallout 4. Sure, there are characters who like doing bad things, but there's not more than that. I was hoping for something like a Ceaser's Legion, something where you can just choose to slaughter everything instead and create a powerful tyranny xD But instead, we get to decide to (Spoiler Alert) be a part of a bunch of knights, lead a group of freedom-fighting-goody-two-shoes-pansies, play as Martha Stewart, or "Lead" a group of pre-war vault-like scientists who seem to never respect you as a leader. The factions definitely need more development. It seems too benevolent for an actual FALLOUT scenario. Raiders are overwhelming in numbers, but all they do is petty raids? Minor kidnaps? Where is an Empire? a Druglord? So much potential in the darker side of Fallout, but it was all glazed over.
I agree even though I never play as an evil character. The lack of true freedom is annying. Fallout 4 is just unfinished in so many ways. Still fun of course.
?Why did they make the gunners attack you on sight too? They could have been a really cool evil faction, where you take over the Wasteland with them.

Although, I never actually expected much, seeing how it all must remain quite simple and fairly straightforward in order to please the Causal audience. If you wanted it to be slightly more realistic in the options, then you have to apply that same desire to the entire game. Seems fair to me, but then you realize how much of the series is painfully impossible.

+Pariah Apocalypse in fallout 3, you see james through your whole life until he leaves. you feel like you have a purpose of going to find him. in fallout 4 you literally see shaun for 10 minutes, and then you are expected to care enough to go get him.
