      Watch my most recent video and see my article on the Bauer Electronic Lock. Over time I had issues with the RVLock. I have switched to the Bauer lock and love it.

      @@RVHabit And I just saw your video on how you had to replace the "innards" after it failed. My purchase of the lock indicates it's "out for delivery" and I'll see how many months I can get from it; however, I'm not worried because your 2nd video shows what to do in case it fails. Thanks again!

    Recently put one of these on my Jayco Class C. Had to do exactly like you did and file just tiny bit of fiberglass. Love the lock - one of my favorite upgrades. Interesting in that I am like you and hate the beep - but wife likes it so she can tell it is working. Ours beeps.

    • @RVHabit
      @RVHabit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I am loving the lock too. What a pleasure not scrambling for my keys. You can always disable the beep and just claim you have no idea why the beep stopped lol. 😉

  • @GetGonewithUS
    @GetGonewithUS 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice job, Lou. That beep would drive in insane, LOL It's surprising that the rigs get painted once everything is installed. I suppose it is easier for them, but it does make some mods a challenge. Stay Safe.

    Nice install, thanks for the info. Looks interesting. I was hoping you would show what it takes to replace the battery, and what the company claims for how long a typical battery last, such as how many times will it lock and unlock on one battery? I have a Winnebago and have grown fond of the inside lever you have to pull up to open the door. I'm not sure I'd like that paddle handle that requires you to pull inward. A paddle lever is less ergonomic for basement motorhomes that require you to reach way DOWN to grab the inside lever. Yes, disabling the sound is key if I had one, who wants the noise? Another concern, is campgrounds are often close quarters. It would be easy for someone to observe the 4 digits with binoculars, when I least expect it. Since the lock is high when entering, it's kinda hard to cover it up with your body without climbing the stairs to unlock. Between me and my wife opening the door a dozen dimes a day, I'm sure there would be times that someone could see the code, call me paranoid. I think a finger print reader would be a better idea, with number keys as backup, like I have on my portable gun safe. Maybe someday.

    • @RVHabit
      @RVHabit  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, The battery compartment is on the inside handle and opens by removing a small screw. It takes 4 AA batteries. I don't' know how long the batteries last but I have not read any complaints about battery life. I haven't had it long enough to test battery life. If you're worried about the keypad and seeing codes you can always use the included key fob. You can even buy extra key fobs. Thanks for commenting.

    • @TomSpurlock
      @TomSpurlock 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RVHabit Hah, I totally forgot about the keyfob. You showed them, but didn't demonstrate, so I forgot. Good point!

  • @timrover

    Looks good Lou, I am with you on the beeping option. Curious.......can you use the regular lock as well as the deadbolt lock independently & did you option in the key fob as well? 👍 The old TIMROVER door locks were riveted on now I am highly thinking of installing this nifty product. Safe Travels out there!

    • @RVHabit
      @RVHabit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tim, Yes you can use the regular lock independently from the deadbolt. However, it is only one key and the keyless part only operates the deadbolt, not the handle lock. I did get one key fob that is included with the lock but I probably won't use it much. The beeping wouldn't be too bad but it is very loud and obnoxious.

    I am wondering where you purchased the vinyl sticker that you put on behind the lock? I don’t see the link for that.
    I really enjoy watching the upgrades. We have a Forester 3011DS.

    • @RVHabit
      @RVHabit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Lisa, I had to order the sticker directly from RVLock website. However it really is just a sticker. You could get one at a craft store and cut it to fit or even use some paint.

    You didn't mention the model of the lock you are installing, but it looks like a V4 which fits Class C motorhomes but apparently not the vertical holes on Class A doors. I'm still looking for a keyless lock that would work on my Winnebago Class A.

    • @RVHabit

      It will probably be the "Atlas". That is the one they show for my Class A 2011 Fleetwood Southwind. However they are out of stock right now, states they should be stocked come early spring 23'.

    Hello! I contacted the RVlock company and they don't offer a keyless/combo/key solution to replace a handle style (vertical) on our class-a. Ours has a regular lock and a deadbolt. any suggestions? I have contacted Bauer and waiting for a call back. My existing latch is a "Global Link" with a horizontal handle on inside and a vertical handle outside.

      I know exactly what you are describing. I am unaware of anyone that makes an electronic keyless lock for your style handle. If you find one please post it here to help others out. Good luck.

    Can this work if your class A has a driver side door?

    • @RVHabit
      @RVHabit  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Class A's have several different types of openings for the entry door. Checking the website for a model comparable is needed to ensure a lock is available.
