- Papers Please Part 1 - Glory to Arstotzka, or however you say it. As a change of pace, I try out a job as a border security agent. Let people in as long as they follow the laws and regulations of this country... or if they give you a good reason to do so. Will I survive in this stressful job?

fun fact: if you're cold-blooded it means your body temperature matches the temperature around you. ergo you would quickly freeze to the Arstotzkan elements ergo you absolutely need heat if you are cold-blooded

This was actually from the Super Shitshow stream for the 500k subs, that's where frog fractions and card shark also come! Tyler played many games with genres he's not familiar with, i can't wait to see the Ultrakill video.

Man, I love this game. The amount of batshit crazy multitasking you need to do grows so quickly, but so does your skill. I remember having those "Ahah!" breakthroughs where I'd insticintively know what to look for without needing to highlight discrepancies, such as memorizing all the issuing cities.
And then the game slaps you with the "you must highlight discrepancies "

A tip (so you make a bit more money in the beginning):
You do NOT need to use the checking tool.
If something is wrong (photo not matching, wrong city, wrong date, missing papers) you can just deny them.
You dont have to ask them about anything.
You only need to check with the ingame tool later on in the story.

I feel like we would all be fine with you in a way having a "cheat sheet" so you could see all the issuing cities and such, so you dont have to keep going back and forth as all it would do would be making it faster.

When I played this game, I had a friend who was playing it with me. Having two sets of eyes made it a lot easier and faster to get people through. We were averaging about 13 people through per day.

tip: if you're unsure about something, use the inspect mode. it'll always tell you if something is or isn't wrong.
Arstotzka is pronounced:
Ar (like a harsh pirate arrrr just shorter)
Sto (like stone)
Tz (like the ts sound you make sometimes)
Ka (like the beginning of car, but sharper)
Heat costs 10 credits per use in the class-8 apartment, and varies in higher classes. Similar to food, it is optional and can be unchecked at the expense of the inspector's family members. The family's limits for cold is 3 days, except for the mother-in-law, which is 4. The cold sign will show next to the family member if they are cold.
Food costs 5 credits per family member, and certain family members have varying degrees of hunger limit, but the son has a hunger limit of 1.
When a family member is sick, they will require medication. I think theoretically we can just forget the son and make him starve and intentionally make him sick, because the other family members can survive without food for 2 days straight.
So to be more efficient in money we gotta forget about the son and just give him medicine when he is sick, and just give food and cold to the other members at the right time.
I would very much like more of this game. It was very fun and very fitting with your vibes.

You don't need to provide heat or food if your family isn't hungry or cold. Also, you don't have to wait for the stamp to come back up, as soon as you hit it to save time just throw the passport back at the person.
So, there are a few hidden things you can unlock in the game, and on day 4 if you let in the woman that hasn't seen her son in 6 years, you get a special Impor coin and an achievement (at the cost of a warning and a tiny bit less salary)
The stream was so much damn fun, loved it!
My answer to the title question is "Without hesitation"
I've seen so many people get hung up on this: You get five credits for every person that you process. Accept, deny, or anything else, if you say 'Papers please' that's five cred in your pocket.
I need to edit that statement, but that includes spoilers.
There will be days where certain things HAVE TO HAPPEN that day. In that case, if you are very slow to process people the day will continue past normal closing time until those events happen. Everyone processed AFTER that time will not count to your paycheck.

A good strategy in this game is to not rush because you forgot some stuff
Quick tips to save minute amounts of time!!!!
1. You don’t need to wait for the stamp to fully press, as soon as you click deny or approve you can drag the papers back to the person
2. It doesn’t happen often but pay attention to heights and weights, a small glance is good enough because it’s such a small number but can screw you over sometimes!
Lastly. Arstotska is pronounced like (R-Stot-skah) the ot in stot is pronounced like thot and the ah in skah is like “pah” in grandpa
I forgot to say too, I love this game so much and I hope you had a lot of fun this first episode! I look forward to more

Papers, Please is my favorite game of all time, pretty happy to see it getting some love here. Surprised you went in for this instead of Obra Dinn though!
The best strategy is to save money by not heating and not feeding your family for one day, and then doing so for another one (plus some cheap medicines)

Yooo! Your pronounciation of "Arstotzka" was pretty good from the start at least compared to other TH-camrs I've seen playing this game.
As a side note: There is a short film inspired by this game with a similar story to the "wife and husband" from this episode. I recommend watching the film it's pretty good. It also shows why letting both of them through could've been a big mistake.
