If you're an entrepreneur, business person, or CEO, sooner or later you'll realize that sales rules the business world. The sooner you turn that into a science, the better you do in business and the sooner your revenue goes the direction you want it to go. So in this video, I talk to you about the three most important skills in sales.
    #1: Finder: - 2:10
    #2: Closer - 3:06
    #3: Developer - 3:39
Which of the Three Skills in Sales is Most Important - 4:40
Ask Yourself These Five Questions - 9:54
    #PBDRealTalk
Last but not least, we launched a new series last week. It's called, PBDRealTalk. Go on Twitter, and post whatever questions you want to ask me. The questions can be anything about business or anything you want to ask me. Post the questions on Twitter using hashtag #PBDRealTalk. If we like the question, we'll feature your question in one of the PBDRealTalk episodes. Every single time at the end of the video, I'll give an "I am an entrepreneur" t-shirt to the person that asked the best question. So make sure your questions are specific, clear, and to the point. Use the hashtag #PBDRealTalk and tag me, @patrickbetdavid.

Qualify. Close. Manage. It's definitely not just about getting the sale but also managing the client, account and project after it. Sales involves a ton of pre and post work. "Closing" is only one component and a misnomer because no one actually "Closes" a sale. More so they secure one but things are always ongoing afterwards

Every commercial on TV, every billboard, every internet ad, every ad in the paper, every ad on craigslist, all of the telemarketers... those are all finders.
I'm also sure, a good enough finder can find people desperate enough for the product, that developing and closing can be much easier, but not the other way around.

How would an account be handled? Who owns it?
My understanding is, the finder (Sales Developer) needs to find X number of clients, the closer (Sales Rep) gets a % of all deals handled, and the developer (Account Manager) gets the account in the end while getting a % on the total client revenue.
Developer cross and up-sells (generates interest), BUT the closer actually closes all the deals. Both get a %, while the finders look for new clients and have nothing to do with the accounts.
    Is this correct?

I totally agree with the idea of a finder being the most valuable person. Being the owner of a small organization, where I have to focus on all 3 of these aspects of sales, without a finder it doesn't matter how good you are at closing, you won't have the business coming in to do so. Also, like you mentioned I believe there are 3 different personality types that accel in these 3 fields. Managing your personality to be well rounded on that level can be very difficult.
    Thanks for the video Pat!

yeah you so right, its all about sales, without sales you dont have any cash
and at first i underestimate it, i keep saying, nah, with a great product
the product will sell itself, and i spent 2 years make the product
and guess what, i don't know how to sell it, people didn't seem interested with the product,
my self-esteem and confidence was crushed
2-year hard work for nothing, it's like you throw away your age
market your product to the public are so damn hard, people are getting tired to get an offer and offer and offer
from thousand of a different company that offers the same or alike idea, its too much choice
product still important, but without sale, your product is just a piece of junk

I've watched a few of your videos so far, and I have to say this one hit home the most. It encompasses so much with just three main words. I have limited sales experience, in fact I've only officially been at a sales job for about 4 months and closing wasn't me accompanied by a poor product to sell. However, one thing you reinforced, is my innate knowledge of is being a finder. It's something that has gotten me through interviews, moving from job to job, and creating trust in me within my respective workplaces. I unknowingly took this for granted, and with that I have set myself back. Thank you for this presentation, it really hit home.

I grew up without a father. So, like every boy in that situation, I have searched for father figures. I had an older cousin, teach me guitar. Then when I inevitably became, a troubled teen, and would get high... while the other kids I grew up with would go out and vandalize and shoplift, I bought my bag of weed, and went and played guitar... I'm the only one of the gang, that never did time. I get a similar sense of guidance, from tour videos. Thank you, from me, and from all the guys like me, who have also found this in you.

This is good news for me lol I'm definitely the finder. I love connecting people to a solution whether a product, an idea, or another person. The closer I'm learning and the organization aspect of followup is where I struggle.
    Thanks for this

I believe it is very rare to find a person who do the three. It is much more practical to hire a very social person for finder, a smart guy who can answer any question from the client to be the closer, and guy or lady who has a passion for satisfaction, who likes to please people for developers.

No need to close anyone, just have a conversation with them that leads them to the conclusion that they want to buy..totally different mindset that takes closing pressure off :)

    Hi!
Thank you so much for your videos. I really love them. I write books and dream to make movies, but of course nobody is going to give a lot of money for that. So I ran art gallery, language school and work 12 a day, 6 days a week on the construction site to push my dream ahead. Do you have any experience in this direction? Can you give some advice? Anyway, thanks ones more and good luck!
