Excellent writing and acting to have the main villain honestly admit to being afraid and the delivery of that line "It takes a lot to scare me. I love the sensation." is just perfection.
I love the detail of Herod's hand shaking as he prepares to draw. He wasn't lying about being scared of Cort, and his hand, quivering with both the fear and anticipation of seeing how he will fare against Cort is proof of that. We all need a rival like that in life.
@@blackway643He also said "it takes a lot to scare me" in the next sentence. Nervous, scared. Regardless of the difference between the two, and this instance, they were one in the same clearly..
For an overrated performance totally undeserved, Gene Hackman has the same approach to every Role he has ever played workman like Actor. Praised needlessly by Critics and Audiences alike, glad to the see the back of him go into retirement. If you want to talk Actors then talk of the 2 brilliant Englishman. Daniel Day Lewis and Gary Oldman.
@MrRolyat98 finally someone with some sense, this movie was entertaining but a masterpiece? Come on now , just come on.. I know it's subjective but when it comes to westerns, this doesn't even crack the top 500... sorry.
OK, first let's understand that I enjoyed the movie. BUT... the way it was filmed made me think that someone got a brand new zoom lens attachment at Christmas and wanted to play with it a lot.
Ratsy wasn't what we would call...a thinker, and let's be honest. He was being cast out into the desert with no horse and no supplies. He was dead either way.
Lesson from ratsy. When one of the most proficient gunman in the West Is armed with a rifle and gives you 20 seconds to get out of town, run slowly in a straight line and make sure there's nothing to break his line of sight to you.
he must have also waited another five seconds before he started running, too- or he's the slowest runner in the West. At the rate he was going, it would have taken him three days to get out of town.
This movie is intentionally a bit campy. It is an homage to the stereotypical western gunfight movies of the past. It is a fun movie with just the right amount of cheese sprinkled on top. It was never meant to be anything else. It isn't a documentary...
With all that money flying everywhere it's hard to see the freedom attained from the death of a tyrant... Who gets the contents of his safe? Finders keepers. 😊
Love the scene and all the Superstar, terrific, I also wanted this happen to me to take revenge from bullies but I'm change, God said " Vengeance is not yours to keep, it mine to keep.🙏😇🙏
After she throws the badge at his feet, he plays it back in his head then realizes who she really is oh the look on his face..I still love the only entrance of her walking thru the smoke and him yelling your dead, I killed u??..well obviously u missed buddy?..😂
Herod barely realizes he was shot with the first bullet. The second one hits him like a cartoon boxing glove. Did Sharon switch weapons in between shots? Nah- it's just a crap film.
Dynamite was probably on a time fuse. Stuff's easy to make and it's still used today. All you gotta do is figure out the burn rate, and you can time it to blow exactly when you need it to.
Yeah, Herod knew if he gave Cort a full cylinder, he’d probably kill him, then enough of the riflemen to find cover, rearm, and finish off the rest. Cort got the 5 who weren’t killed in the clocktower and bar explosions in just under 8 seconds, and a chunk of that was PoV shift. Like how Herrod was giving orders for what happens if he’s not standing in the end.
I've always thought the same. Herod knew it as well. The way his hand was shaking. And how he told his men to gun him down no matter what happens. He knew there was a very good Chance he was about to lose for the first and last time.
I like how after the first 2 explosions Herod still keeps trying to aim like the contest is still going.

Great casting😊

I don't think he got the sensation he was looking for... He did get better aeration and an open mind. 😅

Hello, my name is " Susan ", you killed my father, prepare to die! "
Wow, there's some great STARS IN THIS MOVIE! John P.
If this was one of your favourite cowboy movies you're a legend
Gene Hackman is not just any actor...he is one who will completely make the movie more realistic.
Gene Hackman was the villain in Unforgiven where he won a Oscar for best supporting actor

The level of charisma of that damn movie.

Sharon: Today I am
Badass line. Love the 90s

7:16 - Absolutely amazing. Soooooooo much confidence.
Once upon a time in the west there was this scene that comes to mind
But once upon time in the west is a classic... Better directed.
Yup. I could almost hear the harmonica playing while watching this.
One of the best lines in a movie "today I am"
A brilliant cinematic masterpiece.
That’s stretching it. But it was an enjoyable film.
Lol… shakespearean.

Yeah. As much as I like the film, I think Sam Raimi went a bit too far on being over-the-top.
If it wasn’t that way, it wouldn’t be a Sam Raimi film.
gave me motion sickness 😵
Kegginstructure….its a throwback homage to the old serial westerns and satire
Welcome to Raimi's movie
Amo esta pelicula..y escenas formidables!!❤🦾🎬📽💯💯💯
Gene Hackman was an ACTOR!
This is the movie that I liked very much. It is full of stars and Sharon did very well.
I love how he can see the bullet and scream before it gets to him.
I love how the goon could have run behind a building but chose to run in plain fiew

Saw this film a while ago but somehow never forgot it.
I would say this is Sharon Stone's best

Yes, why??

I like this movie 🙏🌷
He saw the bullet coming, had time to scream, and did a back flip after it hit him. So realistic. 😂
too bad, this scene undermines everything else
It makes the film become cartoon 😂

Gene, Sharon, Leonardo were great in this movie
Good..
One of my top badass moments in a movie after Sharon killed Gene the music kicked in after the “Laws back in town”
nice
The great Gary Sinise in flashback
The way he yelled before he got shot in the head was funny! aaaaAAAUGH!!
Gene Hackman and Russell Crowe in their prime. Sharon Stone's not bad, either. Add in Lieutenant Dan (Gary Sinise). Perfect.
Said he had fifteen seconds and then actually gave him thirty-five; very generous
He never cared about that town.... only his ego...

She gotta flesh wound out of it but saved the town and that retched outlaw/sheriff got what he deserved. The end!
Wonder if Herod gave him more than one bullet. Also wonder who set the dynamite off.
Dynamite was probably on a time fuse. Stuff's easy to make and it's still used today. All you gotta do is figure out the burn rate, and you can time it to blow exactly when you need it to.
No chance in hell he got more than 1 bullet. As such, we only see 1 shot fired from that gun 4:33.
Yeah, Herod knew if he gave Cort a full cylinder, he’d probably kill him, then enough of the riflemen to find cover, rearm, and finish off the rest.

Era uma vez no oeste
Plot twist:
She didn’t kill her father, the gun was a prop. The director was the one who shot him so that he could film the entire movie 🎉
Nope! it was AB
Not many actors would take the bullet as a practical effect. So ya gotta give him that!
And that’s how US Marshals were made in the Wild West.
