Hi Paul looking some advice Iv got the 340 and seem to keep getting great sounds and number but seem to find big iron even with the setting on coin or jewellery what am I doing wrong? I can get a great 20 pinning but iron keep coming up , I start just leaving on relics mode and avoid -0 numbers to help stop digging big iron but again I Could be missing great finds this way any advice please thxs
iron can fool anybody, there are ways to try and tell if its iron, generally on the vanquish it can give a good signal at 18-19 but also the numbers will jump around to negative to plus 20's, you can try and remove a small amount of dirt and scan the area again if it changes, you can "pump the coil" over the target if the tones drops to iron or becomes broken its generally iron, Or could be a good target next to iron, all non ferous comes in the positive numbers range so running Relic mode to start with is ok, your not doing anything Wrong, its just practise but Everybody gets fooled sometimes

Its possible yes most metal detectors can pick it up as a good signal but there are ways to try and see if its iron
If I wanted to detect iron canadian coins,, would it be better to use the low iron setting ( which I think would be the nail icon showing up on the screen ) I am thinking of maybe buying the 540, how deep would it go useing the 12 inch coil on wet salt sand at the beach . Does this machine cancel out the hot rocks . How well water proof is the control box,, I do get caught up in heavy rain sometimes.
The control box isnt waterproof its shower proof with the cover.. as to settings for iron core coins you would have to use all metal.

@@paulcee getting it off eBay. Has to have the Bluetooth headphones and come with the pin-pointer. Then it's a matter of digging, scooping and crevice tools.

Coin mode is fast recovery you said that backwards. Relic is deeper but slow jewelery is balanced coins is fast and shallow.
