    One thing I noticed while you were detecting was your swinging the metal detector with the coil high in the air if you want to get deeper older signals try to keep it flat to the ground

    I did some research as Im just getting into detecting.Solely because I could'nt find my surveying stakes.I did'nt want junk,so the vanquish series kept popping up.I bought the 340,hopefully it will last.Lots of old homesteading areas around here.Northeast Ontario.

    Nothing beats this detector in the price class it even competes whit 500-1000$ detectors

      Except no pinpoint

      I bought a cheap $20 pinpoint on amazon. Does the job. I just wish this unit came with a rain shield, or was water resistant.

    I think the issue with your bounty hunters is likely capacitors in the power supply drying out- Should be eminently fixable if you want to go down that route.

      That would cause the coil to make false hits? I'd definitely be willing to solder on some new capacitors if I could confirm this was the issue.
      That aside, as a consumer, I feel that the bounty hunter should have lasted much longer without requiring repair.

      @@OldSoulMillennial That would be my general intuition. Most of what goes wrong with any electronics is usually;
      1- Connectors
      2- Capacitors
      3- Carbon Film resistors
      Happy to help with the diagnosis if you'd like :-)
