I cant believe three guys are even debating this question - im 63 and ive listened to so many pairs of two ways I could puke, not once did I ever hear a good two way sound more full than a three way, modern speaker designers and manufacturers are cutting the cost of crossovers and drivers and conning everyone into the idea that an insanely over priced two way speaker can deliver the same full range as a three way design - theres always a hole in the middle. I can remember when most speakers had midranges, but they save money leaving out the extra cost of three way crossovers and an extra driver then marketing $$$$$$$ two way designs and its the online audiophiles job to sell the idea and talk at great length about sound stages and amazing detail as if midranges never existed.
It’s my thought that the driver in a 2 way bookshelf does double duty doing mid range and trying to give bass given it’s size limitations. I bought a pair of Focal Sopra 1 2way. Despite a lot of moving them around and trying to dial them in I could not bring myself to love them. An expensive lesson.
Personally, I like 3-way speakers. I had one from Philips and then by Sony, around 1998. Now a days, everything is cheap and costly cheap. It's incredibly difficult ot get one. Also, the new 2 ways speakers are really good.
Erin made a ton of sense with the explanation of how adding quality components to design a proper 3 way speaker will cost more than a properly designed 2 way speaker. Thousands of adults across the country speaking into fans talking about the Doppler effect 🤣😂
Youthman's so on top of this question 😂🤣. Let's keep it about the speakers you knuckleheads. Youthman loves 3 way... designed speakers. I really wish Channa was here for this discussion 😪

I think the good ones will attempt to dsp their way out of it…
Me landing on this video while researching a 3 way speaker system that costs $250 🤡
Crossover is much more complicated and likelihood of getting it wrong is high so it’s more expensive.

If my front stage L and R speakers are 3way is it on if my rear speakers are 2 way
