Imagine the people that are probably no longer alive that packaged these back then probably would have no clue someone 88 years later would open one and drink it in front of thousands of people on the internet.
I’d go out on a limb here and say definitely not alive. Lol. To still be alive, one of the packagers of this product would have had to be 12 years old, and still be alive today at 100.
“Hey shop keeper! I’m buying this penny drink so someone in the future can make it as hundreds of thousands of people gather to watch the event! Really, and he won’t even need a soap box to stand on!”
Just think, someone picked that up off the shelf 88 years ago in a little mom and pop grocery store. Probably stuck in their pocket basically forgot about it. Think about all the places that juice packet has been up until now. And the person that originally bought that is no longer around.
I showed this to my grandmother, born the same year that product was made. She commended you for your “strong constitution and bravery.” She also said “I’m glad he shaved. You can see how handsome he is now!” 😂
I really enjoy this channel and it helps with my anxiety. I probably don't resemble a person who would enjoy someone camping in culverts but I do! I always learn something new and am impressed with the genius of this man. You're intelligence reaches a widely diverse audience. God bless you. You deserve all of your success!
Red Dye is forever. If you Google the maker, Clyde Collins Inc. Memphis, you can find a photo of their gigantic warehouse being demolished in 1971. The 1st implosion in the state.
Just to think, this drink was made 3 years before WWII started! That's just amazing to think about. Back then, there were Nazis in Europe, the Japanese in China, and the world was a totally different place! Very interesting video!
Now there are Nazis on college campuses, and the heads of Harvard, Penn, and MIT refused to condemn calls for genocide by those students. This was in congressional testimony by those University presidents during the past week.
Safe to say nobody's gotten to enjoy Penny Drink for some time, probably 60 years or more! Maybe longer. Cheers buddy I love your enthusiasm and I share it.
There were more than SIX Flavors - Raspberry, Lemon-Lime, Orange, Grape, Strawberry, Fruit Punch. They added Berry Punch, Root Beer, Pink Lemonade, Cherry.
I found an old can of Spam once from about 1964. When I opened it it hissed. I didn't eat any but it looked as good as new. Do you think I would have been alright if I'd eaten some? I guess it's best to look under a microscope first?
For some reason this reminded me of a drink mix from the 60's that wasn't Koolaid. I googled it and it was called Funny Face. I don't know why I preferred it as a kid maybe cheaper, I guess. Anyway, I appreciate what you do! Thanks, Dave J (A former MA/NH guy)
Holy crap. I thought this was Post10... As soon as I heard his voice and then saw him without facial hair, I was sure it was him! I didn't know he had 2 channels!
Back in the 90s, you could get similar flavored drinks at bodegas - we called them “quarter water” (they cost 25c). Kinda interesting that the price is in the same ballpark as the penny drink post-inflation
That's pretty much what Kool-Aid is. It is bitter before the sugar. And it takes one cup of sugar per quart . I normally make it in a 1-gallon container and it takes 4 cups of sugar
I love your outfit, the colors are very pleasing to the eye :) what an interesting product. "US certified colored" wow. When I was a kid I remember putting Kool aid in ice trays in the freezer to make my own little "suckers". Great video, thanks for sharing
I needed to see this video today. I was having a bum day but this person actually exists and for some reason that makes me think the world isn’t so bad. Keep up the work you weirdo, it helps bring some of us back down to earth.
I really like the jug he drank out of. Can anyone give me a better description of the jug he is using so I can find similar types. I like the shape and how it has images on it!
It's clear to me that they don't make products as tough as they used to anymore. 88 year old drink that still taste good, that's actually pretty amazing.
Gotta remember that powdered sugar contains starch so it is not as strong and will turn things milky. A product that my grandma would have enjoyed when she was 6 years old held up longer than she did. She sadly passed day after Christmas 2010 at 80.
You could buy a box of these things in the early 70s here in Australia. They were in sachets , I can't remember what they were called but we used to buy them because even coke was expensive when you are poor. We used to get a chocolate bar once a week as a treat. Things have changed.
Wow , I never thought there were instant drink powders back in the day . And the fact it still tasted good means they knew how to produce them . I tried 10 years old instant ice tea some months ago and ...it was crap 😂 For the cancer giving additives I'm not sure all the Exxx nowadays are harmless (look the nutrasweet case in the 90s). Great vid as always
I love your house, your energy and your random knowledge. I look forward to your videos. It’s like a visit with your cool friend that you never watch the clock when they’re around. Just curious but have you ever experienced any bodily discomfort after the fact with the things you’ve sampled/eaten?
That's SO cool Sir Post! I mean it's crazy to think that this packet was made 3 YEARS BEFORE WWII and look how well it turned out after all this time. The army should have put that brand in their MRE's, eh? Hah!
I recognize that packaging, those packages were used for storing new watch crystals. Mostly GS and Flexo products. Great for keeping the softer plastic away from the harder contents of a watchmakers drawers but awful for a consumable product.
Cool video as always! When your heat turned on at the end when you were about to feed the raspberry mixture to the googly eyed annihilator, I swear I thought our heat turned on! lol had to pause the video and listen. It was yours. Here in mid GA it was in the 70's today.
I believe that raspberry flavor is also one of the first sodas, the soda machine used to actually mix powder and soda the way today's cocoa machines make powder and hot water. (and you knew where to go if someone set their machine up rich, and lots of people would set it up weak).... But,, this mix makes sense to store well since I'm pretty sure you can make it yourself with a vintage chemistry set. It's not really a surprise that it stores since it's just some powder chemicals mixed into a bag. ,,, In one way, you kind of wasted it! because it could probably last another 100 years.
My grandparents just entered adulthood when this was made. Grandma was a big koolaid drinker, so she probably drank the heck out of this too back in the day.
What i like about your video's you are making History with every old product you open .. that has been seald since its manufacturing process .. only to be opened decades latter ... really enjoy what you do keep it up ... merry Christmas
Live in a dairy that was turing into a house. The one room down stairs still has the insulated room. It has about 2ft of cork board lining the walls. So much that no one has removed it yet. Its ridiculous the amount of cork board is in that one room down stairs. Walls and ceiling.... tried several times to remove it but stopped by the amount of 100yr old cork lining.

Companies didn’t market products as “imitation” or “artificial” because those terms enticed consumers…. Powedered sugar is mixed with starch, and much less dense, so it’s not as sweet as granulated sugar.
