    I've learnt more in this video about Soi 15 than I have in the last 17 years I've stayed there!

      Ha Ha, no I'm just a rookie walking down the street. Hopefully someone planning the first trip over will get an idea of what to expect. Thanks for watching No Strings

      That's great. Enjoy the stay. If you subscribed to the channel, you should get an announcement if we have a meetup from time to time. It's always good to meet other travelers and folks that moved to the area.

    4:59 I don't know when you filmed this video, but I was staying nearby last week and the Dream is now called the Night Hotel. And the Irish Pub has good fish & chips.

      It came out about a month ago. It was probably filmed 6 weeks ago. I might have gotten the name wrong, too, but things do change often. I did a video on Soi 11. Released it a month later, then they bulldozed the beer bar complex. It's time for a new look at the street. Thanks for watching

    Hi Joe, I have been watching your channel for a while now and love it. I am looking to travel back to Thailand shortly and have never been to Bangkok. I have stayed in Chaing Mai, Phuket and Pai. I wolud like to stay in Bangkok to see as much as possible before moving on to Chaing Mai and Pai again. Your videos on the Bangkok area are great and wondering, if I was to visit Bangkok for 30 days what would be a good area to rent in, and not really interested in the redlight district, more interested in walking around the less travelled areas and back street for those eateries that others don't get too. Thanks and keep up the with the great videos and commentary.

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching. I really enjoy Phrom Phong. It's still near the tourist area, but you can escape the red light area. Another option would be China Town. I did a video on that area. Many longtime expats live in Thonburi. Near Icom Siam mall. That would be an old-school Bangkok visit. Old town and Thonburi are near the river. You could warer taxi around. They call it the Brooklyn of Bangkok. Lots of art and coffee shops, etc.. It's a hard question. Phrom Phong is in the heart of things but isn't as crazy as Nana Paza or Asoke. Soi 24 is very popular. Have a great trip

    Hi Joe, can you use a passport card instead of carrying around the passport book?

    • @EagerExpat
      @EagerExpat  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, passport card is for Mexico and Canada. Maybe a few other places. Unless that's changed. They want that picture ID. Years ago, I tried to exchange money with a drivers license. They sent me back for my passport. I tried two booths. Just take a photo of your passport page and entry stamp. I never tried the photo or copy at a money exchange. I would bring my passport and try the color copy first as an experiment. I keep a color copy in my wallet with my emergency contact on the back. But, a photo is probably fine. I've never been asked, but the police can ask to see if you're here legally at anytime. It's been happening at expat bars in Pattaya. They're clamping down on illegal overstay.

    Most people pronounce 'Sukhumvit' by emphasising the 'Suk' at the beginning of the word rather than the 'khum' in the middle! In fact the same stress as in the word 'beautiful'.
    Sounds better and is more correct!
    I only say this because you seem to like this area, and you are likely to be referring to 'Sukhumvit' quite a lot in your videos! 😀
