Cute & Colorful Garden in the Heat! (Zone 9b)

- Welcome Gardeners, Today I will walk through my back yard garden and show you all the beautiful plants and flowers that survived our California heat wave. Temperatures actually reached 113 degrees, but my garden survived BEAUTIFULLY! In fact. . . I think they LOVED IT!!! Keeping it well watered, pruning back seed pods and planting heat tolerant annuals for Zone 9b was the key.

I totally agree, sometimes we need time to ourselves. Sitting in a garden and spending time with our animals is very therapeutic. Love your videos there very peaceful and calming a change from this hectic, overwhelming times we live in.

Hi Ginger, thank you for your encouragement. I am a little shocked too that it was looking so lush and pretty. I’ve been watering every day, I hate to see my water bill. Haha Or perhaps God is blessing me. Maybe both? Just keep watering every day and since you are watering more, you’ll have to fertilize more as well. That’s all I have been doing and it seems to work. Good Early morning Miss Liz well what to say your garden space it's always so whimsically enchanting, and forever changing. It's wonderful to see that it survived the heat wave. It sure was a hot one. I agree with the hand watering as well. I gravity feed out here in certain areas that require it. But it really gives you a chance to see how things are growing. I use the time to prune, deadhead and maybe change something that might not be doing as well in that particular spot. I'm excited to see your new garden destination through the arbor until then, to the garden we go to lose our mind and find our soul. Have a blessed day Garden Gal.
Good morning Kelly I enjoyed reading your comment this morning. Lose our minds and find our souls isn’t that the truth. So many times I watch Garden channels, the ones who have drip irrigation and I see the problems they have. There’s always plants dying and when they get close to see the problem, it’s with the drip irrigation. sometimes that is more work maintaining that than watering by hand.
