Maureen has been creating gardens in her suburban garden for several years. All of her gardens are DIY by Maureen, and her husband Jim. As things mature, you can find pockets of beauty everywhere. She has an eye for container planting combinations, as well as for plant combinations in her garden flower beds. Come along and tour Maureen's beautiful garden with me. Thanks for watching- Steph 🌱 (Gardening in Massachusetts zone 6b)
Hello friends! I’m so appreciative of all of the sweet comments on this video! Thank you for taking the tour along with us. I see many specific questions, which I will certainly answer! I have a family commitment all day today, so it will most likely be later tonight or tomorrow! Special thank you to Steph, who does an incredible job putting all of her garden videos together. She certainly has a special talent, and I’m so happy our passion for gardening has brought us together as great friends!💜🌸💜🌸
Beautiful garden! Thank you for sharing. Please do list the name of the phlox seeds in your garage container when you have time, love those and so many other things in your garden 😊
It's so satisfying to know other gardeners who love to sow seed and take cuttings. The sign of a true gardener. The small "blue berry" dianthus plant would be so worth propagating, even to plant a drift in one of your front borders. Maybe some taller perenials around your hostas might help with the scorching. Penstamons and coneflowers would add a bit of shade. Jo. Love to see your garden again soon.
@@darleneoldakowski4966 Hi Darlene! I got the bird bath at a local nursery in Rhode Island. I don’t know the specific name of it, but it’s made by Campania International. Hope this helps!
You are so kind, thank you! I love that we can all share in our passion for gardening together here on social media! The superbissima petunias are a favorite, for sure!!
With so much garden videos on YT i can only watch gardens that are really impressive. This is one of them. You guys kept it moving, no unnecessary chatting or focusing on one plant. Garden is so beautiful!!!❤
Oh I love the idea of the silk flowers in the hanging baskets on the front door and garden gate! How clever the way maureen matched the flowers to her planters. Maureen, you have a beautiful garden. Thank you for letting Steph share it with us.
Thank you Linda! It’s just an easy way to add a little extra to that spot! I usually try to switch the flowers out for spring/summer, fall, and Christmas.
Steph, this was such a nice garden tour at Maureen's. So beautiful; she has a great eye for color combinations. Thanks to Maureen for sharing her garden.
Hi Barb! Thank you so much. Maureen has a beautiful garden, and you are right, a great eye for plant combinations. I'm so grateful for our friendship, and her willingness to share her garden with all of us 💚
Hi Barb! Thank you for the kind comment! Thank you for “coming along” the tour with us! Steph does an amazing job in all of her videos, and I’m so thankful she chose to feature mine!
Maureen, your gardens are stunning!! Wow! Thanks for sharing them with us. I believe those squiggly lines on the leaves you pulled off are leaf minors. It's a little worm that burrows through the leaves. Get rid of them! 😝 Thanks, Steph, for introducing Maureen and her garden to us. The tour was very inspirational!
Your gardens are just stunning Maureen. Would love to learn more about that trailing flocks from proven winners, and that it grows like that in the shade is amazing. 👍
Hi Diane! Maybe Maureen can chime in here for us and let us know the variety of trailing phlox she has on her front porch pots by proven winners. I know the trailing variety in her large garage planter, she started from seed as a good alternative, and its beautiful. That variety she purchased from select seeds, and its called "Blueberry Swirl" www.selectseeds.com/products/phlox-blueberry-swirl-seeds Hope this helps, and thank you so much for watching!
Hi Diane! I appreciate your comment, thank you so much! The PW variety is called Intensia Blueberry phlox. My front door pots get morning sun, until about 12-1pm I think, so I was also impressed these phlox did so well in only part sun. In my area I can’t always get my hands on this particular Proven Winners annual, so I went online and was so happy to find similar seeds from Select Seed. They were almost a match visually, and they turned out to be great performers as well! Good luck!

That comment was so sweet Barbara, and made my day! Thank you! Steph does a great job capturing all the little details that make our gardens so beautiful! I feel lucky to have had her do a video!
Such a beautiful garden Maureen! I love how you just go through weeding and deadheading as we tour. That's what we gardeners do, always cleaning up. Thanks for filming maureen's garden for us 😊
Haha! You are so right Darcey! For so long I hated to have people tour my garden if it wasn’t “perfectly weeded.” As my garden has grown, it is virtually impossible to keep up with the weeds! This particular day we didn’t plan a garden tour, it just organically happened. So I was definitely trying to weed a bit here and there as we walked along!😂
You are so kind! Steph and I are lucky enough to live about 20min apart, so we get together somewhat regularly, and we find ourselves chatting for literally hours about gardening. It’s so fun to have a friend with similar interests!
Wow, this garden is absolutely gorgeous! I am just starting with a blank slate, and I'm excited to see what is possible with years of love and hard work. 😍
Beautiful garden Maureen! You have such an eye for pairing different plant textures. Thank you and Steph for sharing! I definitely got a lot of inspiration for my own garden!
Wonderful plantings and cohesive garden. I especially love the black window box with the Midnight petunia and the chartreuse verbena. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the spontaneous garden tour. I learned about a lot of new plants. I just discovered you both today and look forward to watching many more. Love learning from all the gardeners around the states. It's fun when you can relate with your fellow garden friends. I make my containers the same way. If a plant excites me, then I see what I can do with it.

Such a beautiful garden. All the hard work shows .... Maureen has a knack for it. It'd be great to learn from her her watering, fertilizing and cleaning / maintenance routine. I struggle keeping grass out of a small flower patch I have. I would love it if you guys can take us through what Maureen does to "keep up" a beautiful garden such as this .. especially with it's size. Thanks for the beautiful tour.
You're certainly not alone on that one! I know many gardeners who do. I leave mine up about a week or so, and as soon as they start to look a bit faded, I cut them off.
Beautiful! I'm in NC 7b and we've had no measurable rain in over a month and the heat index is 100, so everything is struggling. A pleasure to see a garden thriving.
Hi there! I'm so sorry, its a tough time out in the garden when that happens. We are approaching our second heatwave in the coming week. All we can do is make sure that both we, and our gardens are hydrated.💚
So gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your garden friend🌸 I'm taking notes for my pots next year and some of her great color combos💜 Thanks Steph and Maureen!!!
Thanks for the garden tour Steph and Maureen everything is beautiful. I also use the Dollar Tree waste baskets which are great for plants just emerging in the Spring and to help block areas from the squirrels digging up things.
Great makeover, I redid my front garden with mulch also. I had old overgrown evergreen shrubs that have been dying off one by one over the past 10yrs so I decided to take all but 2 on each corner of my house. Lined my garden bed with cardboard, paver edging and filled the bed with raw tree mulch. I decided to modernize with multiple sized planters and pots with perennials and annuals for color.
What a lovely garden! Love your color palette and textures. Even if there wasn't narrative throughout the garden tour, I noticed your attention to garden design principals. Well done!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful garden with us. It’s always interesting to see how plants are used, and how they do, in other people’s gardens.
