  • @wolfferoni
    @wolfferoni 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The thing about greyrocking is also not ignoring them/ giving them the silent treatment. Be boring, be deadpan, answer with one word etc. but if you have to interact/ be around someone, ignoring or giving the silent treatment can make the manipulative person even more angry and try to provoke you to make you react. If you can avoid interactions with them, just go no contact.

    Is there a line that needs to be tread carefully with the grey rock method? I feel like it could come across as avoidant and dismissive if not executed properly. I don’t think it should be used as a crutch to get out of uncomfortable situations simply because it’s awkward. I don’t know. Just my .02.

      It is avoidant and dismissive by design, which makes it ineffective at actually helping people communicate and achieve conflict resolution.

      Thing is, it was designed specifically for what Anna described -- surviving toxic people who are in your social orbit. It is not intended to get you out of uncomfortable situations you just don't feel like dealing with.

    Most recent interpersonal drama: a girl said to me “why are you acting like we’ve been best friends for years? If you don’t like me, just say it.” ????????

      I had a friend pull that once. Been friends for 2 years and she would say I was her best friend, all of a sudden she told me it was weird how I called her my best friend and that she didnt want to hang with me anymore. Like.. okay lemme just ignore the last 2 years of non stop texting and endless sleepovers and pretend that didnt happen I guess.

      I think some people fear being known because they've internalised the message that they're a 'bad' person. So they push people away and self fulfill the prophecy.

      Mixed signals here. Probably she's very insecure. I have a friend i adore but when she's really stressed she thinks everyone low-key hates her so, it might be that
