      Ritchie was known for improvising all his studio solos (except Highway Star by Deep Purple. Which was actually written).
      But this shows how much talent Ritchie has! Inventing such an amazing and difficult solo!

      This is great but here some flaws here, as some of the transitions are Not as smooth as the Lp version. But Blackmores solos cannot be dublicared(Even by Himself)as Everyone trying to play them looks and sound like they're suffering from Arthritis. e.g...Watch Ritchie play Highway Star solo live in his Worst night then watch Morse!

      @@highwaystar3780 That is true, apparently Rainbow never played Gates of Babylon live (apart from the Don Kirschner show, but that was a backing track, only Ronnie was singing live) because Ritchie could never do the solo justice and I agree with that. It is the best solo he's put down on record.

    In the final 80s, Gary Moore was one of the main guitar heros. So, his opinion was relevant for press and teens...he was constantly asked about this topic: "Who' s the best guitar player?" He talked about Jake E Lee as his favorite one...of that age, because he recognized in an interview:"Ritchie Blackmore is the perfect guitar player"

    This is the ONLY ORIGINAL studio cover of Nr. '' Kill the King '' on '' You Tube ' ' ! This studio record '' Long Live Rock 'n' Roll ! '' has been 1st. saled in may '78. & recorded in april '77. (except Nr. '' Kill the King ! '') . '' Kill the King ! '' has been recorded in late 1976. from the last band crew from ' Rainbow Rising '' era , but it didn't put on this LP 'cause of some personal changes during late '76. - early '77. This Nr. appears Blackmore in his full potential & also put this Nr. on a highest level of all Hard Rock numbers off all times ! Really (REALLY !!!) good played ! Congratulations ! :)

      Thank you very much for the kind words! I appreciate the historical detailed information, I was not aware KTK was recorded as early as 1976. That is very interesting. In my opinion Blackmore was at his technical peak between 1976-82. Later eras saw him develop also as a great composer.

    Man your playing is incredible, amazing cover for this song and solo, just had a question, do you think the original solo was sloppy? because there is that ascending lick that i couldn't clearly hear on the studio version, every great cover of this song has that part very clear but slightly different.

    • @ClassicSoloSpotlight
      @ClassicSoloSpotlight  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I assume you're talking about the ascending tremolo picked scale pedalling on the G string? I do'nt think he played it that sloppy, it may be a bit buried in the mix. It helps if you're experienced with deep listening to older recordings, trained ears will pick it up even if its a bit buried. I personally think Ritchie played very accurately on the studio albums. Live? Well that was another story.

    • @Turquoise636
      @Turquoise636 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ClassicSoloSpotlight
      Yeah, i have the same opinion, in studio he is almost another player, playing with more dynamics and variety. But i saw a comment in a forum, which said that Blackmore couldn't play fast without sounding like a mess, i don't agree with this, because we have Highway star, Burn, Child in time, Death alley driver and other fast solos, but this was maybe the only one lick that i couldn't hear clearly on the album, i can feel it but as you said it is buried in the mix.
      Thank you for the reply, you're a fantastic player.
