    Very helpful. Been looking to invest in a vacuum set up. Board at the end looks bad ass!

    very informative video! does it smell less epoxy(maybe less toxic) if you vacuum bag? cheers

    • @Dzjiefoils

      Thanks! Yes it does, as soon as you have the laminated board in the bag the fumes stay inside as well. Bit before that point it’s just a regular lamination process with lots of fumes.

      Hi Family Jay, Ik looked for a vacuumpump on second hand websites. And I found this one with everything attached. Very lucky! Thats the most budget friendly option.

    I think the chewing gum stuff MAY be/similar to
    "Blu tack"
    that we have in Australia (and other places?)
    Any information on the coupling from bag to hose? The 2 or 3 piece metal and rubber ring piece you demonstrated after making a small hole in the bag?
    Thanks once again 😊

      Hi, thanks for your comment. I got it from this Dutch website. polyestershoppen.nl/vacuummaterialen/vacuumconnector-1251.html
      Maybe this helps you find the part in Australia. Good luck!

    Great work! How many inHg or -Bar are you pulling your vacuum?

    • @Dzjiefoils
      @Dzjiefoils  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s very hard tot tell from the meter in my system. I’s located in the wrong place. So every time the pump shuts off, the meter will go back to atmospheric. But it’s somewhere around -0,2 bar I think.

    Hello my friend, thank you very much for the information in the video. I want to make a surfboard with the vacuum technique. The only thing that I could not understand well was the name of the two fabrics (Cloth) that you put on the carbon fiber. can you give me the name of both and if you can tell me where to buy them? thank you very much aloha 🤙🏽

    • @Dzjiefoils

      Hi! The first layer is called peel ply cloth. The second one is absorber cloth or bleeder cloth. I buy them online at a composite webshop in the Netherlands called polyestershoppen.nl

      @Dzjiefoils  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for my very late answer.
      I don't know anything about the pump, I bought it second hand. The text on the sticker on the pump is unreadable because of it's age. I just know it works... I have no idea if it's two or one stage. Sorry! How's your process going so far?

  • @richarddavies-scourfield8413

    I like to put a release film (bread wrap) between the breather fabric and the peel ply, it makes it much easier to separate the breather from the peel ply.
    Also those who are new to this technique, do a lot of experiments before doing your first full size board. There are quite a few things that can go wrong. After 30 years of vacuum bagging I have made most of the mistakes available!

    • @Dzjiefoils
      @Dzjiefoils  ปีที่แล้ว

      But will the breather/absorber cloth still absorb some excess resin?

    • @richarddavies-scourfield8413
      @richarddavies-scourfield8413 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dzjiefoils yes if you use perforated release film. It allows excess resin to bleed through to the breather cloth.
