Loved this video and kudos to Tom for such a fast last lap! I was thinking: what a great job you have guys when this is part of your day. Love also how you are together.
Just before Sarah's "escaping from jail" comment, I was thinking "Forest Gump". Also, interesting that Tom runs faster backwards - should be useful for future races. [EDIT: I take that back - impressed by Tom's sprinting at the end]
I did something like this with my running group this fall. Our weekly social run was a 4.1 mile loop around a lake. The last run of the year, they had the clock running on a countdown to zero. You started your run at the time you thought you would end up crossing the line at 0:00. I did my run and was only 7 seconds off. Someone came in right at 0:00 and there were several under 5 seconds. It made the last run of the year something fun.
Loved the challenge and the banter. Congrats to James for a spot on clocking! And congrats must also go to Tom for posting the fastest lap of the day. Well done, all!
Watched this during my lunch at work. I tried so hard (and mostly succeeded) to keep my laughter silent that my stomach hurts. Excellent stuff. Really enjoying these challenges!
This is where you need your "comfortable" pace to be exactly 5m/km, or 2 minutes per lap. Our running club does a weekly 3km on the track. At 5m/km, the minutes on the time board at the finish line count 1, 3, 5, ..., which makes it easy to figure out your lap count if you lose count.
@@calamityoblivion301 alright, but you're putting it as a correction when it's an arbitrary preference then. All interval trainings use repetitions, and it's common to refer to shorter intervals, like 400m and 200m as interval training as well despite what you like to think
Did something similar tonight at my running club! Did a ‘naked mile’ where we predicted a mile time without the watches. I won coming in within 2 seconds! Such a good concept to work on pacing and seeing how good you are!
Tom is such an unconventional Runner, Breaking❗ and cutting ✂️ up all the Rules of how you should Run, but hey 😄 I enjoyed watching you Tom, What a fantastic character and a Happy sport you are👍
Great challenge 👍👍. Things I have learned from this: Some of us could be elite level runners but our legs are on backwards cos Tom running backwards produced a faster lap. Bakewell Tart is the best running fuel. Now, in typical running fashion, id like to know portion size per 30 mins, Mr Kipling or is a homemade variety better/worse? Does it have to be Bakewell tart or can I get a variety of fruit based cakes? Also, would Bakewell pudding produce the same results 😂😂
Great challenge. Really enjoyed that. I suspect Andy would hit his time every time so best not to let him compete but might be fun to watch him doing this some time.
Last time I did a 400m was 15 years ago when I knocked out a dead on 50 second lap. Today I'd be lucky to survive a flat out lap! 😂😂😂 Great video, was laughing all the way through 😂😂😂
Initially I thought "Those t shirts are throwing out a Teletubbies vibe" but no... it's The Wiggles. You guys are runnings "Wiggles" & its just brilliant 😂
Watching that warm-up routine, I find myself predicting a successful career for the team as showgirls on the Vegas strip should this TRC gig not work out for them...
I couldn’t predict my own time if I had to-dyscalculia. I do my best with PE (perceived exertion) even during races, but still can’t maintain a pace for an entire 5K. It’s never going to happen this side of the Resurrection unless God heals me, so I rely on my Garmin. Loved this challenge!🎉😂
the longer you run for the further you are likely to be off your predicted time, as this is not done on percentages of predicted time a faster lap is probably a better idea
I thought a difference of mere seconds was pretty impressive - surely Andy would be proud of you all! Also, lots of likes for the pyroclastic flow, especially with definition. Makes my stoney heart warm. :-)
So I kind of feel like I need a video or podcast decision on this. How can Sarah be the fastest one over 5k+ distance but slowest one at a 400? Didn’t she say at the beginning that her 400 PR is 1:21?
This sucks... We used to run 60sec 400 repeats as a high school field hockey team for preseason. Just running flat out until you dropped. It would be almost impossible to predict my 400m laptime now.
Now now, give Tom some credit - he was only one second off his fast lap prediction!
haha he was very good at fast laps!
3:16 Did Sarah just start her invisible watch there?
Pretty sure she did, some really ingrained muscle memory there!
😅😅
They took the watch out in post production.
I wish I had running friends like this. These challenges look so fun!
Sure are fun.
Fun challenge and I love Tom’s creativity in trying to modify his times.
Loved this video and kudos to Tom for such a fast last lap! I was thinking: what a great job you have guys when this is part of your day. Love also how you are together.
Different colored shirts! Brilliant!! Great job guys, another fantastic challenge and video!
I can taste bakewell tart... AND VICTORY!!! 😂
I was thinking they looked like a running version of the wiggles with their different color shirts😂
😂

😂😂😂 Should we do a backwards running challenge next?
@@runningchannel Yeah, absolutely!
@@runningchannel I vote for a medley race like they do in swimming - incorporating backwards running, side steps, high knees, and grapevine perhaps?

Always a good time watching your challenges!

Hope we didn't get you into trouble at work 😂
Impressively accurate predictions! Tom has some speed!!!! Rick’s reaction at the start was priceless 😂😂

The run you always have and radiate is awesome. Love the pod so mich as well ❤️
Glad you enjoy our content so much!
Brilliant challenge, well done Tom for being the fastest, well done Rick (James) for winning. Great pacing.
You all are so fun! You're the greatest 🙂
Rick tricked himself into an interval workout 😂
Repeats, intervals are longer than a minute or so
Yes he did 😂
@@calamityoblivion301 so intervals then, 79 seconds is longer than a minute
@@shiinondogewalker2809 a Minute or so for repeats, I like to think of intervals tending to be at least 2-3 minutes

Awesome video! The sound mixing was incredible too! You didn't have to go that hard, but it's greatly appreciated😊
counting a 77,96 as a 77s lap is harsh :)
We like to make the rules as harsh as possible 😉
I LOVE these challenges! Thank you!
Thanks for watching! What would you like to see next?
Fair play tom . Class guys always make me smile ❤

Amazing well done!
Great to see Rick again! He was missed! Can’t wait to see him in his traditional black tights🤔🤔🤔🤔
You made 400 reps so much fun, thank you for making me smile this evening, 😊
Tom is my favourite mascot just love that guy!

Why are there two Jameses and where is Rick?
Hahahaha 😂

Just when you think Tom is relatable, and he knocks out a 74s lap 🤯
Rick should have put some pizza crusts in his shorts to slow his pace down a bit.
Very fun video, thanks gang

Rounding 1:17.96 down to 1:17?
You guys are so fast! I think I would’ve guessed 125 seconds for myself and struggled to get it.
That's still brilliant!
I would choose a very slow predicted time and just jog it 😂
I don’t think that’s easier though. An easier run, but probably much harder to get precise.
But is that harder if that's a pace you're not used to? This is such a hard challenge!

Does it not need to be % deviation from the target time to make it fair?
Sorry, but which one is Rick and which one is James 😀?
Rick in pink, James in blue
Sorry mate, it was meant to refer to a running joke 😀
@ Sometimes you take things at face value and the joke flies over your head (well, my head) 😅 Never mind
😂 😂
Good luck all! And sorry everyone, but I'm actually Team Rick this time
So I kind of feel like I need a video or podcast decision on this. How can Sarah be the fastest one over 5k+ distance but slowest one at a 400? Didn’t she say at the beginning that her 400 PR is 1:21?
Hold your horses, Hartley!
Would love to try a track session!
Have you got any tracks near you?
You should do a prices right style race. Anything over and you are DQ’d regardless of by how much.
To make this tougher (next time) I think that any laps that are over your predicted time shouldn't count, so you've either got to be under or spot on!
Hahaha that's tough!
I would've chosen my PB (135s) and ran it
Verulamium 👌🏼
Rick’s hair interests me.
I think the wafer thin mint comment was gold. Very sly.

Not that all these challenge videos aren’t fun, but could we have something focussing on strength, conditioning and prehab please?
On it!
Now Tom, at least take it a little bit serious..That was the dumbest plan on the last lap lol.
Noo need to dye the hair Rick! I never saw gray hair to begin with 😅
😂
Did I miss Sarah's New York Marathon?
She wasn't able to run it in the end sadly
@@runningchannel Oh shame. There was serious crowd support and the weather was perfect in the end. Next year!

Why did rick run 6 times?
