The P51D was the reason I got into war thunder. It took me several months to grind it, but once I got the D5 I hated it because it was a brick. I then researched the D30 and I absolutely love it. The only thing is that bnz runs have to be kept below a certain speed to avoid the rudder problem.
P51D30 is the plane I've tried the most to make it work in anyway and never succeeded. I gave up after trying to outrun a 109G in outerspace by WEPing...I'd put distance on it very slowly, try to turn a tiny bit and lose all speed so the 109 would creep back up. After running for 5-6 min I finally had about 4km+ on it and tried to turn around, it turned so slow that I couldn't even turn for a head on even at 4km+ out. I couldn't believe it didn't run out of fuel for how long I was running. I would always find myself in a situation where I'd have 1-2 passes then spend the rest of the game running away trying to reset. The P51H is absolutely amazing though....seems like that plane turns better the faster it goes but the D30 loses huge amounts of energy?
I don't think the P51D high altitude performance is modelled correctly. Take a look inside the P51D cockpit and watch the manifold pressure gauge drop from above 75' to almost 60' at 6000 meters. It can barely get to 9000m meanwhile IRL bombers cruise at 10k meters. The P51D30 loses so much power above 6k meters it's not worth flying high.
The plane turns the best 400 kmh and up. The reason why it “turns so Good” is because other common opponents like fw190, Bf109, and yaks don’t turn as well at these high speeds. If you can’t shake an opponent off your tail force an overshoot and do a barrel roll right after they pass you so you will be on top of them and shoot them. Also on a bnz dive try to make the target distance booming before you reach the rudder locking speed. That way after you do your run with good aiming from your rudder not locking the extra speed you will gain after that will allow you to either 1. Zoom away from the enemy and covert speed into altitude or 2. Slowly spam S to pull up without wasting much speed tricking your opponent and if they point their noise straight up do a stall trap and that should get them! :D hopefully I’d be helpful
The D-30s performance dips above 6000 meters Don't even consider dogfighting on that altitude. No fighter can turn in that atmosphere After climbing, descend until a good alt before engaging

sorry but "Red Tail Tuskegee Airmen squadron" had P51-C (4x12.7mm) in the film they just used the D version (6x12.7mm) because i think the C is in the museums they used also P40 (4x12.7mm) P39 and P51-B

I play Sim and find your video very helpful even if it is RB. I did find the Mustangs less effective getting shots on target also the 50 cals feels weak unless you make long burst. My favorite US plane is the F4U-4B. I prefer play BR 5 to 6 range.
I was so happy when I got this plane...I upgraded it fully...started playing realistic and no matter what I do it feels like flying with a brick. It's heavy, not manoeuvrable at all, I tried climbing but by the time I reached decent height and got into combat 80% of my team were already dead. It's also super hard to hit the target while diving with this thing. I have no idea how to play this plane. God forbid that someone gets on my tail I'm dead in a few seconds unless I can get into a dive and fly away.
Hey I recommend climbing and boom and zooming on opponents you will shoot before you get to the rudder locking speed which is around 600 kmh and the good thing about the mustang is it’s great dive speed acceleration. So let’s say your going 400 kmh dive on a bf109 1.3 km below you. Hit him before your rudder locks. Keep diving to around 700 if your not already when your done shooting him and then very slowly start turning up to either. Gain distance and convert speed into altitude. Or trick the bf109 into a loop fight which with the speed accumulated from the dive you will out turn it
@@Carlos12t3lovesyamahas thanks for the great reply, I might give it a chance one day again but I don't see it very realistically because most of my games half of the enemy team is above me 2-3km I don't know how they climb that high so fast.
Jengar if u do know how to use MEC on Mustang all variant seriously, u will enjoy more because ur radiators will be cool (Radiator 100% and oil radiator 100%) and infinite WEP everytime (from my D-5 and D-30 experience) but, don't take this serious tho, just a suggestion to not make the engine turn into oven
At least its better than premium Mustang which is honestly just good for nothing. Suboptimal climb rate, mediocre speed, armament and manueverability, rudder locks at high speed and it bleeds energy fast.

Not a bad Plane but the Packhard merlin Mustangs are not my favoured ones, i fly since month Merlin Spits only the LF MkIXc Plagis Prem. Plane, the LF MkIX from the tree and the 5.7 Griffons MkXIVe/MkXVIIIe. Because they are fun to fly i buyed 3 or 4 Weeks ago the (Dutch piloted) MkXIVc Premium for over 4000GE (same armament like the Plagis 2x20mm and 4x 7.7mm) and iam really happy with it, its worth the money, can you do one Video about the Prem MkXIVc or the other Griffon Spit`s?
recent update : the Aim messed up... keyboard playing +mouse /while zoomed in and shooting in arcade- the aim spot stops advanceing and guns dot falls behind! so i burst- then fix aim dot then burst= really broken- suks.. any fixes ? im use mouse for up /down/side/side.. Q-E for hammerhead... im better at kills than this allows me to do! terrible.
I wish that gaijin buff this thing up like the rudder and I do know and if anyone know this please tell me this. There is a kill montage video on the d30 mustang and it was better judging by the gameplay. I never played the old war thunder patches so I don’t know what it was like and wish you comrades a good luck 🇺🇸🇺🇸⬇️⬇️⬇️
i swear its been recently updated, you can feel the rudder lock at 530 kmh ias its unbelieveably stupid, theyre nerfing everything, theyre making everything weak as shit, there are no more good planes just okay ones its unbelieveable how out of touch the devs are with the players.

i think it does yeah, D-30 needs 6-7km distance, and preferably turn it in a semi slit-s.

Mustang best turn past 400 kph

Yes, this is a legendary fighter plane. Such fighters with red tails were flown by black pilots. They were called "Tuskegee Pilots".

its also fast and a fantastic energyfighter. But yea, the rudderissue makes some finisches difficult. its something you have to work around.

Just can't make the D-30 work. I spend more time getting separation as they just chase me forever and the match is over.

Well, maybe not that severe, but they've always drawn their own plans, they dont take playerfeedback on board very well.
