He did play the old out of touch dude that says the wrong most inappropriate things at all the wrong times, but let's face it we all know people like that. To your final point, I left the theater thinking to myself Clint made a movie about missing out on family things and there was some regret. When Eastwood and Cooper were talking in the cafe, I almost felt that was them and not the actors. A Star Is Born has roots with Eastwood in my opinion. I can see Eastwood telling Cooper, son you need to try directing and while you at it might as well learn to sing and play the lead hell I did how hard could it be. For the record I think A Star Is Born is totally Cooper's baby and he did an outstanding job, but watching him and Clint together seemed like a passing of the torch.

I thought this was a good movie. I liked how it's almost set up to appear as a gangster-thriller, but really is a more melancholic story about an old man coming to terms with his mistakes.
The scene where they guy got pulled over is because he looks Mexican with the hat until the FBI realized he spoke perfect English and he even said he was borned in US.

I think the movie was attempting to make this character bad and racist, you can just tell they tried to hard. Then it makes it awkward instead of part of the story

Exactly, Clint Eastwood indicates, he likes to handhold his stupid audience through each scene and this is why you can pretty much tell he's writing or directing a scene a certain way, even in American Sniper, like the liberal soldier who likes watching children get shot and HOW DARE HE QUESTIONS THE MISSION! And of course the "scary" way he films the Marine who killed Chris, the same marine who served his country, he portrays him like a cartoon slasher villain. Clint just isn't a subtle story teller, and he's very paranoid and angry, making for some very hamfisted scenes. I fucking loved the guy when he was making A Perfect World, but after Mystic River, and the cheesy way he tried to get a tear jerking performance out of Sean Penn. Go watch the Porch Scene where Sean Penn tries waaay too hard with such cheesy dialog to make us feel that he lost his daughter and then Watch Mickey Rourke's scene in The Pledge as he actually generates a feeling of loss that makes you actually question exactly what this character thinks everyday, every moment their child is gone, all done without even moving the camera on him, whereas Eastwood pulls in with a crane on Sean to let us know "something's happening, stupid people".
Lol i love the get out reference. And jordan winning the award and them going "the first black director wow historic moment" pretty well affirmed his movies subtext

his statement on racism is if you poke fun at all of them equally you are not a racist ..this is what he did in grand torino he picked on his lifelong friends and every other race on earth pretty much the only people he really showed prejudice on was against his own family he showed equality dont have to be politically correct .. and the message was,,, he gave his life for the asian family next door but would not give his p/c libtard kids or thugs the time of day..
@Shariq Torres it just means today people take themselves way to serious and we put way to much emphasis on a person's race back then we also teased tall people short people people with glasses people with curly hair guys with no hair most common racial joke was a polack joke but you had to look around to make sure no polish people were there before you tell a polack joke unless of course you were a polock them you can just tell a polack joke yep the good old days when everyone got crap equally and did not take every tiny thing personal

Clint Eastwood is my favorite actor of all time. I even have the 1950's movie Tarantula because Clint is an un-credited fighter pilot at the very end napalming the giant spider outside of the town. He was a bad-ass before anyone knew he was a bad ass.
I actually saw this movie with my grandpa, which put things into perspective more for me. if you think about the "ordinary" older generation in our life, they grew up accustomed to a more racist way of thinking. because my grandpa has young grandchildren, he has a better understanding of respect, but even leaned in a bit during the tire changing scene and said "that guy sounds like your ol grandpa here". my granddad is more left leaning, and understands systemic oppression WAY more than what they taught of when he grew up, but reminiscing on how that train of thought was years ago or slipping up (as it's what they're accustomed to) is just the way it is. be patient with your elders. don't always scream "rAciSM" or anything when your grandparents just haven't gotten the hang of it. Clint portrayed this accurately, more than likely because it's his thought process too.
He is basically just an 88 year old man who is just from a different time. Whenever he says something unacceptable he’s corrected and learns from it. Current culture is always super quick to cast someone as a villain. Why can’t someone just be ignorant to the right conversation as opposed to being derogatory maybe they mean well but are just from a different time and have a vocabulary from that period as well. I also hate when people are so quick to call someone else racist. Get to know someone before you decide anything about anyone.

Are you going to do a video on
Roma
PS . Clint Eastwood , all white girls look the same .😂😂😂😂😂 JK .
Loved this movie!
Clint Eastwood is great as always!
Yo um, review The Kindergarten Teacher on Netflix. Just yeah.
I loved it. Clint Eastwood is an American legend. There is no bad movie with him.
I like your theory, movie was alright , saw it last night and the racist parts kind of stung a little
Ants Movies why? See why do we live in an era where hearing an actor in a movie portraying a real life guy who was old even 30 years ago stings you you need to get over it and deal with the fact that this world isn’t all buttercups and roses
KING OF NERDS hey look I know it’s not butterflies and roses, I just have a lot of white guilt , which means I feel badly for how Indians, blacks and other minority’s were treated in the past by our people and country. So when I hear those things it just makes me cringe slightly.
@@AntsMovies dude u sound like such a consumer " I have a lot of white guilt" white people have created this beautiful world so be a man and be proud it's ok to be white ya know
Ants Movies this dude acknowledges his white guilt, And yet still allows it to influence hos life choices...
@@AntsMovies They're called Native Americans, asshole. See, that's why you're pathetic. You feel all this "white guilt" but you don't even know why. Your empathy is shallow, misguided, and superficial.
Every time I say the title, I say it Austin Powers-style.
“Mu-lé, Mu-lé, Mu-lé, Mu-lé, Mu-lé!”
Isn’t a part movie kinda about racial profiling? Not only that most of his movies are pretty open minded and aren’t really conservative.
@Richard Wilson it is, i shouldn't have said whole, sorry, ill change that.
You got that Chilled Cow channel over my own device playing Chilled Cow. ChillCeption.
You talk so much and explain very little. This vid should have lasted 4 min not 8.
Maybe the 8 minutes, but with less fast talk and more comments on scenes of the movie....
You’re quickly becoming one of my favorite TH-camrs. Love how you break down movies in under 10 minutes with a great voice and clear, rapid fire delivery!
Everyone gets triggered about everything these days.
People were expecting so much exciting out of a movie about a guy driving back and forth .... I liked it
I laughed my ass off when he was making the stereotype jokes. It was an ok movie though not bad not great.
You’re awesome dude.. please keep up the great work 💪🏾
This movie was too dry for my taste.
Why do people say this is Eastwood’s last film. He himself said he doesn’t plan on retiring, and that maybe people just want him to retire, hence people say The Mule is his last film. Maybe it’s the last film he will act in, but his last film ever? Until the man says so, I don’t believe he’s done.
his statement on racism is if you poke fun at all of them equally you are not a racist ..this is what he did in grand torino he picked on his lifelong friends and every other race on earth pretty much the only people he really showed prejudice on was against his own family he showed equality dont have to be politically correct .. and the message was,,, he gave his life for the asian family next door but would not give his p/c libtard kids or thugs the time of day..
@Shariq Torres lol my friend i grew up in detroit and white people are not the only folks who berate and degrade people ok dont even play that victim crap with me keep it real k
@Shariq Torres by the way it wasn't just non white people either it was polish italian irish german right along with everyone else we all got razzed about equal we tended to tease each other about stuff we had no control over like what country your parents came from or what race you were short tall bald that stuff was all fair game people did not take stuff like that as so personal because we were all intelligent enough to know them were all things a person has no control over at all ..now if someone called you lazy or untrustworthy or a welcher on a bet stuff like that then them were fighting words but not so much stuff people know they had no control over that was just teasing and ballbusting people were just not so hypersensitive about stuff like that...
@Shariq Torres no that is not what i said at all...did you read it..are irish non white are italians non white are polish non white are germans non white???
@Shariq Torres lots of stuff got burned down in 67/68 i was there ..so who burnt their stuff down??
You saw right into this movie! Best critique on so many points. I saw the movie today 🍿 TOP MARKS! Clint Eastwood is a very talented and unique artist - a craftsman!

Very, very good analysis sir!!
This movie was a cringe fest with a undeserving redemption

Wow, really insightful. Great video!
"Police Accused him of kidnapping her girlfriend,
good thing he was able to convince her she was free."
He meant the police believed he'd brainwashed her into thinking she was.
I think you had this completely right. I watched this just yesterday. I could see it. there was an autobiographical aspect to this film. I have seen it in some of his previous films as well.
This video has the movie so strung out it's off the table and on all four walls .
Clint Eastwood is my favorite actor of all time. I even have the 1950's movie Tarantula because Clint is an un-credited fighter pilot at the very end napalming the giant spider outside of the town. He was a bad-ass before anyone knew he was a bad ass.
"As a Mexican cartoon" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 took me out that was comedy 😂😂😂
Do something for “Dirty Harry.” Bro, my favorite movie of all time.
Lol as a Mexican Cartoon. Love your vids man!
Subscribed at "And I had just convinced her she was free" lmfaoo
Again with that smooth outro. Damn. Right on time.
Do a Clint Eastwood analysis. I would love it.
Aye Caramba! I love Clint Eastwood.
The lines in this movie is good, I thought. Some laugh out loud moments. Good chemistry between the characters. 7/10 for me.
The ending gave me goose bumps good job
Thank you, thoroughly enjoyed this video.
I had recently watch the mule and felt the same.
It's sad that words hurt people nowadays.
Great analysis/&dissection👏🏿🙏🏿
You should do Wentworth - the Australian “OITNB” that makes Orange look like a trip to an abandoned Toys R Us - PS, love your material! I’ve binged watched all your videos in a day 👍🏾
