- Hey guys and welcome to another Final Fantasy VIII Tutorial! Today we see how you can obtain an INFINITE amount of Rosetta Stones which have a LOT of uses. Either teaching a GF the Abilityx4 ability or refining it into a Shaman Stone later on.

Very rare to comment on videos, but this guide solved my issue for RSs on my PS4. I closed the app completely, restarted it clean, opened my save file and immediately began my sprint to the card player. Other videos say it doesn't matter how long you spend in the save room cell, maybe true for others, but I never got a stone on other guides. Also to note, for my comfort, if you fail in your first try to get the stone by being too slow, best is to close the app on the ps4 and reload the app - I find it much safer in case of any error... anyway, thanks man for the guide!

I got one using someone else's video and since the first All I ever got was a potion. The instruction on hard resetting could've been the trick, but telling me the specific pathing, glorious! Thanks so much. I have 9 now and I also wasn't using the x3 on the card declining either. Glorious!

I remember doing this successfully on a few playthrough over the years but I needed a refresher thanks man this was hella helpful. Don't forget though guys Bahamut comes with Abilityx4, you can get a Rosetta Stone from talking to Esthar's Cheryl's Shop a few times and you can get one from doing the right steps in Ultimecia's castle. If one distributes GFs correctly in addition to the 2 Rossetta Stones you get in normal means that's already 3 characters that can have Abilityx4. You only need to get 3 here if you plan to have all six characters junctioned at one time later or none at all if you only plan on having one active part junctioned. Unless of course you are collecting stones for the chain of other things that can be refined from them.
Thanks for your comment! It's important to note that it is possible to get Rosetta Stones throughout the story, but not this early in the game. Which is why this method is so powerful!

For us old school players the soft reset was r1 r2 l1 l2 start select
This worked for me on the second try! Thanks dude! My question is, how the hell do people know this stuff?? lol
People hack the game to see how the RNG works. The thing is, RNG isn’t actually random. The game goes through the same list of numbers in the same order everytime. Lots of things you do cause the game to move to the next number in the list. Hard resetting the game starts the list back at the beginning. You need the game to be at the right spot on the list to output the number that gives you a Rosetta Stone. The lights flickering in the prison hallway actually cause the game to move down the RNG list, so you need to spend the right amount of time in the hallway. Everytime you speak to the NPC and agree or disagree to play a card game, that also moves the list. So this whole thing is set up to give you an easy, predictable way to get the game at the right RNG spot each time for a Rosetta Stone.
Just wanted to say it works on mobile as well. Its trickier because you have no buttons, but as long as you do as instructed it works the same.

Em 6:17, você diz que existem apenas duas ROSETTA STONE no jogo principal (uma que você pega na CHERYL'S STORE, em Esthar, e outra, no CASTELO DA ULTIMECIA, depois de tocar o órgão e conseguir abrir as grades do canal).
Vale lembrar que a GF BAHAMUT já vem com a HABILITY X4, ou seja, precisamos de mais três ROSETTA STONES apenas para que todos os seis integrantes do grupo possuam essa habilidade.
Além dessa forma mostrada no vídeo, que obviamente é a menos trabalhosa, existe mais um forma de se conseguir uma ROSETTA STONE.
Basta juntar 100 CURSES SPIKES e refiná-los em 01 DARK MATTER (usando para tal a habilidade TOOL-RF, da GF SIREN). Em seguida, refine 01 DARK MATTER em 01 SHAMAN STONE (usando novamente a habilidade TOOL-RF, da GF SIREN). Por fim, refine 01 SHAMAN STONE em 01 ROSETTA STONE (usando, agora, a habilidade GF MED-RF, da GF EDEN).
Para conseguir esse item, basta vencer (ou roubar) o inimigo TRI-FACE. Esse inimigo pode deixar de 01 a 08 CURSES SPIKES, depende do nível dele.
MALBOROS também podem deixar de 02 a 05 CURSE SPIKES.
Mais raramente, também é possível conseguir esse item derrotando CREEP, FORBIDDEN, GRAND MANTIS e IMP.
Além disso, você pode refinar 01 TRI-FACE CARD em 01 CURSE SPIKE.
Time in rooms should not matter so you do not neet to hold down right after you load. Everything else is just right as he says.
I believe the lights on the walls that flash slightly have some sort of effect on the RNG. So moving before the screen loads up would actually be necessary. I remember reading that somewhere
@@TomVsGaming Oh ok never though about that. Well I just made a macro that do everything from the continue button to arriving in front of the player, and a second one for spam play that i put at 54 repeat and farming almost 100% accurately
Never thought of using macros! Would make this a hell of a lot less stressful haha
@@TomVsGaming Yeah it helps a lot in terms of consistency and i even though doing a macro for a X3 run but I don't know how the X3 speed affect the RNG timer. Still i made my spam play macro works on X3.
I remember when this was discovered. The reason you have to run in that exact way is because the flickering lights in the prison hallway actually consume random numbers for some reason. So you need to make sure you get to the Rosetta Stone guy at the right RNG position everytime to keep it predictable.
These tricks are life saving. You can also use the stash of stuff in Dollet to consume random
Numbers and soft reset to quickly and easily manipulate the card rules throughout the world.
Ohhh, I suppose the books in Dollet work in the same way that the "Reks Save" works in FF12? That makes sense!
So basically....you can either farm for 3 stones here and get the full party with 4 abilities at the beginning of disc 2, OR you can only get 2 stonese here and wait for Bahamut to have the third one via his junctioning, correct?
Yup! Correct!
Could even just get 3 stones here and once you get Bahamut, you can use Amnesia Greens to remove 1 of the Abilityx4 to free up space. So many opportunities
@@TomVsGaming That's the nice thing about Final Fantasy 8 if you ask me: the complete and utter freedom you have in every aspect of character developement. Even more so than almost any other Final Fantasy (FFX is right behind, but it's not equal in the slightest)
Are you able to come to this location on disc 3?
Unfortunately no! Only the one time at the start of disc 2. Only other way to get a few Rosetta Stones now is to try your luck with the Angelo Search technique. Have a quick search on yt for how to do Angelo Search!

@enriqueesp.2303 I haven't found anything. The PS5 must have a different RNG table and I'm not sure how to force a Rosetta Stone
I got 2 Rosetta Stone just playing him lots of times. Possibly 50-100 times. I didn’t do the rng trick.

Looool. EZ! Let me know if that works. I'm not sure if equipping Enc-None has any effect on the RNG or not
although i exclusively use the booster type of no enc for normal game i must say having it equipped on a character for this specifically is better just to be more sane trying this out, to make sure you rule out anything messing it up
Took 10 tries but yeah it has to be perfect if you get a hiccup you have to restart.
Even the slightest change in the run up can mess it up. Glad you got there eventually!

Too good! Just finished up a playthrough on the PS5 and it seems the PS5 RNG is different. None of the card Abolishing or Rosetta Stone methods worked 😭

Double check that you are doing the run correctly. Even the slightest change can completely screw up the outcome. If it's not that, then comment again, I'll make sure to make this work for ya!
@@TomVsGaming thanks, the problem was that since it was the first time doing it, he starts talking about the rules and I was counting since that very moment, but the thing is to start counting only when he only asks yes/no to play a card game.

If you're doing a perfect run and still not getting Rosetta Stones, my guess is that the Queen of Cards is in the wrong location and you're gonna need to try the alternate version which I also show in the video. Good Luck to you!
