    This scene is so funny in a roleplay sense if you’re already halfway through completing Rite of Passage. Imagine tripping balls on some plant given to you by a half naked man in a cave and some dude dressed in swat gear and mummy wrappings runs up and starts quoting the bible to you.

      Fat Queer In times of war, everyone is involved. A people's future is in their children. A vile race torments you time and time again. Won't leave you alone. Wouldn't let your fore fathers pass through their lands peacefully. Exodus 15:3. His only begotten son, who became the root and off spring of king David's seed, became angry at his kinsmen, and corrected them, for he is king. Did he not say something along the lines that the angels, who are messengers, would come to his defense if he was in any true danger? Not meaning he didn't have powers, but that he has power far greater than that made up king, Nylarhotep.

That verse talks about the Jews when the Babylonians came and destroyed Jerusalem, they cried out to God to avenge them but He didn't answer for they brought it all upon themselves when they rebelled against Babylon and sided with Egypt.
      When you watch your whole city get razed, your friends and countrymen killed and raped- you'd sure as hell would say all kinds of bad. But that doesn't necessarily mean God would condone such savagery.

    • @johnhanson5527
      @johnhanson5527 4 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      HowamIAlive : I agree. But it wasn’t just avellone. Was he amazing yes! But he wasn’t the only one. Such as John Gonzalez who moved to guerilla games for horizon and josh sawyer who directed the vanilla game. The main reasons Bethesda never gave them another chance was sort of two fold. One, they wanted an 85 on metacritic, it got an 84, so Bethesda screwed them out of pay bonuses that way. Pretty sure that was management and not the devs at obsidian. Two, Bethesda was obligated to make this game after the lawsuit over fallouts rights was coming to an end. As a result obsidian was allowed to make this last game. After that Bethesda basically decided that they’d never let anyone touch the game again. Looking at the franchise now it’s saddening. It’s filled with lies by Todd Howard who basically asked to get this ip because he thought he could do better than interplay which is now obsidian. He did well with 3 but then had his ass handed to him by new Vegas. Idk bout you but I’d be pretty pissed if someone basically made a better game I just begged and told my company I would make better. And they did it in less than three years. Safe to say that lightning in a bottle comparison is so true.

      "They ate them"
      Makes my skin crawl even a decade later. That it's all that's said before transitioning immediately into a campaign of brutal, cunning and unforgiving terror and extermination makes it that much more harrowing. You can only let your imagination run wild as to what Clark had been thinking, what he'd felt when he saw what they'd done, the consequences of his hesitation to act and the revulsion, the true and genuine disgust and hate, for the selfish, mad evil he'd witnessed.

This, to go alongside with that poster's same analysis that Caesar also implements transcendent critique in his choice to try to crudely recreate Roman culture in post-apocalyptic America seeking the same result as the Roman Empire, without giving much thought on the major differences between time periods, cultural background, etc. that caused the Romans to flourish in the first place.

      It's telling, that between Daniel and Graham, only Graham ever quotes the Bible. God never commanded his people to be passive to the point of allowing themselves to become victims of genocide: except in the rare case that God himself specifically orders otherwise, he ordered his people to not be the aggressors in a conflict. The White Legs go far beyond simply being aggressors, and they are a threat to literally everyone, including themselves.

    • @HeyImLucious
      @HeyImLucious 5 ปีที่แล้ว +51

      @Idazmi7
      Personally I think Daniel's advocacy of pacifism is a reflection of the general misunderstanding that a majority of people have. Like how most people see "turn the other cheek" as a demand that Christians must never fight when the actual context of that quote is regarding someone who is in a position of power over someone and turns the other cheek- in other words, he shows mercy even though there would be nothing to lose from being wrathful.
      Either that or I'm reading too much into this and they just wanted Daniel to contrast with Joshua.

    • @Idazmi7
      @Idazmi7 5 ปีที่แล้ว +53

      @@HeyImLucious
      _"Ye have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: but I say unto you, resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man would go to law with thee, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away."_ - From Matthew 5.
      Notice how neither of these is a life-or-death scenario? This statement is not about power or even mercy: it's about letting go of inconveniences brought on by other people, even contentious people. But for murderers:
      _"And surely your blood, the blood of your lives, will I require; At the hand of every beast will I require it. And at the hand of man, even at the hand of every man's brother, will I require the life of man.
      Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: For in the image of God made he man."_ - from Genesis 9.
      The White Legs murder indiscriminately: God requires their blood by reason of their wanton murdering. The same goes for the Legion as a whole. Like I said: it's telling that between Daniel and Graham, only Graham ever quotes the Bible. I think that was purely intentional on the part of the writers.

    The real beauty in this is, when you understand the context behind psalm 137, you see how closely the dead horses mimicked the israelites. Cutting out the bulk of the passage doesn't diminish the impact but rather adds to it with brevity

      Absolutely. I definitely see that with the dead horses.
      And I remember searching for this passage in psalms after hearing what he said. Perhaps one could argue that the character of Graham, not the game writers, is the one cutting out verses. Shortening, picking and choosing specific verses to reflect the desires of his heart. It’s a trap many of us have fallen into. Graham seems to acknowledge as much in the merciful ending of this DLC

      @@theta_clips Joshua mentions that one of his 'tribesmen' from long ago invented the weapon he was using; it was John Moses Browning, from the LDS church. Joshua and Daniel practice some post-apocalyptic form of the restored gospel

    By the Rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yay, we wept, when we rememberd Zion. Remember, O lord, the children of Edom in the daty of Jerusalem who said, "Raze it, raze it, even to the foundation." O daughter of Babylon, who are to be destryoed. Happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.

    Practiced hands make for short work... The characters in this game are second to none, Lanius, Graham, Vulpes, Caesar, Ulysses, Hanlon, Oliver, House. and more.
    Bethesda will never be forgiven for being the real butcher of this game, I digress as I will give them a chance to finish this story by creating a completed one. By my hand the Twisted Hairs will get their requiem.

    Joshua Graham always gave me Book of Eli vibes. Well okay, maybe he's a bit more violent than Eli was (as far as I remember, Eli never actually _went out of his way_ to kill anyone), but I guess it would be different when you have a home and a family to worry about, and not just your own personal mission.

    • @billwithers7457

      Eli never went out of his way to kill someone because he was going somewhere. He was never defending an area like Joshua was. If Eli had survived the end of the film, and he was told that Alcatraz was under threat of destruction, I'm confident he would act an awful lot like Joshua did.
