The big three wanted to focus on large margin vehicles like SUVs and trucks to fund their EV Division which blew up in the faces and nobody cant afford any of their trucks either. Ford is in big trouble. How Jim Farley has a job still is beyond me.
exactly that 20 years ago I wanted to buy a Honda Civic Type R (I live in Europe they heavily tax big displacement engines) it was around 30-35k in 2024 it's 61k O_O another more recent example they are selling a city car 1.2l 82hp for 29'800$ ! that kind of car were the lowest of the low cheapest "that's all I can buy" cars they are worth 10-15k tops but no now they are sold for the same price one of the 1st 200hp sport hatchback cost in 2003, problem is they are still trash tier cars not worth 30k at all I drove one of those while my car was being repaired it couldn't reach the highway speed limit and when I had to go uphill I wanted to eject my passenger as the revs were going down going WOT...30k for this lol

Another factor is CDJR dealers don't have an affordable new sub 25k entry level vehicle to sell to the masses. Ford has the Maverick and the Escape. In my area, new Escapes are discounted so much that it's cheaper to buy an Escape than a Corolla. Chevy has the very successful new Trax and also the Trailblazer. Buick has the Envista and Encore GX. CDJR has simply priced itself out the market and the buyers are punishing them by not buying their products

One thing that has been ignored, with a few exceptions is the massive "price adjustments" on some of the high powered Dodge products. People remember it and go to another brand. Dealers got creedy and tried to milk every dollar possible. People remember it, as I did when I looked at several Dodge Chargers. I walked away from the dealer, the Dodge product and went to a Japanese brand. Perhaps the parent company needs to look at pricing as well as customer service?

Studebaker couldn't afford the union wages, shut down US production and shifted to a factory in Canada. Their sales fell and they ceased auto production leaving the auto sector. Stellantis seems to be headed down the same road in the US.
Before the pandemic wranglers were around $35k and then they raised the prices to over $50k. Jeep is garbage and has always been garbage. The basic wrangler should be priced at $25k. That is all they are worth. No matter what the price is I would never buy a jeep.
They let the product offerings drop. They let their product offerings get stale (outside of the engines). They increased the price more than inflation would indicate it should increase. They increased the price steeply throughout the last model year run for AWD on the Charger/Challenger far outpacing any inflation. They planned so well they have a Chrysler brand with just one product offering. The Dodge brand with an aged SUV (Durango) and an Italian import that is very highly priced. They continue to hike the prices on Jeeps (note the Gladiator). They have two Wagoneer's that hardly differ except one is much higher priced than the other (for what exactly?). The Ram offerings, increase in price and loss of V8 power options. The overall theme here is one of steep price hikes on ageing offerings and/or decreased options in new products. The cherry on top is the extremely high starting prices on the upcoming Dodge Charger and the insult to injury fake sound to try and fake what they are famed for: mechanical excitement, not an electric whir! The #1 problem they have is lack of any good management.

Here is a perfect example. In 2020 I bought my fully loaded all option Laramie 4x4, the msrp was 73k, and I received 10.5k off. The finance rate was 1.9%. Today the same truck is 83k, they are offering only 3k off and the finance rates are much higher. I need a new truck as I have nearly 150k miles on it but I will not pay these prices.
A manufacturer, especially Chrysler, needs to offer one heck of an incentive to get me to buy. Something like 75% off knowing the car may only make it 5,000 miles (Hornet)
Manufacturers don’t realize how much of the sales is actually based on word of mouth rather then advertising, incentives or options. The Hemi enthusiasts were the ones actually selling dodge to others. Now that dodge abandoned the enthusiasts. The “dumb” buyers are not getting advice from the friend that recommends them a charger because it’s big and powerful and safe and easy to repair. So the “dumb” buyers will walk into some random dealer and buy the car with the biggest Apple car play screen. I personally have had 5 friends who sat in my charger for the first time experienced it the engine, the sound system and my passion for it that caused them to go out and buy one. If I was not their friend they would have been driving a FWD i4.
And just look at any comment section on dodge’s social media. 100% of actual owners of a dodge from 2005-2023 are making fun of how badly dodge has F ed up. Yet funny enough mechanics and the eastern countries have been taking much interest in those hemi cars. Russia is flooded with TRXs even the mobbsters have realized a TRX is way more luxurious, bigger interior and actually off-road capable vs the G wagon they loved so much. And you see mechanics recommending a used charger because parts are so affordable to maintain and how easy it is to work on. In 5-10 year from now chargers will be looked at like how most people view Toyota camrys in terms of long term reliability. And all the last 10 years they have been talking shit about the charger interior being cheap I don’t even understand that reasoning. It’s a beautiful design and simple. Very reminiscent of a 90s bmw. In the dash layout.
not an informed comment at all. If one only cares about the engine when purchasing a vehicle that's fine. But your example is the kettle calling the pot black. And a Hemi charger isn't reliable, safe or easy to fix. It's historically one of the most recalled vehicles in its segment and it's outdated it's literally a 20th century design.

It starts at the top. Stellantis CEO has a track record of doing this stuff along with the "new breed" of ceo's. This is not inclusive to the auto industry. It is being done to a lot of companies. Cut quality, raise prices, cut warranties and people will still be dumb enough to use or by our product or use our store.
Stellantis should scrap dodge, Chrysler and ram. Keep only the Jeep wrangler and call the Ram pick up a Comanche under the Jeep name. It’s all trash but those two models might be able to survive.
After 13 years of loyalty to the Ram/Jeep brands, I gave up on them last summer. I traded my 2022 Ram Cummins to stop the bleeding on how quickly it was being devalued. There did not seem to be a bottom to how quickly that truck was losing value, all due to how Stellantis jacked up the prices and then offered $15K in discounts on new ones. Done with that.

However, with the 2500 Cummins trucks, for the time period 2010-2020 I was able to own/drive them for 24-30 months and then trade them with very little depreciation on a percentage basis. So it was a good run, but that run ended and once I figured that out, I bailed on the brand. I am not sure anyone but you (jwill540) is smart enough to have fully seen it coming and been able to totally avoid it.

And the cam shaft is higher, not properly oiked, and fails- per many videos warning about that. DO NOT BUY A RAM, do not fund the UAW and their massive raises. Don't regret like I do. Hope the RAM dealer chokes on my purchase.

Dealership greed is the biggest problem. Price increases are a huge deal from Stallantis. My 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 was 36k on sticker, and I paid 18.5k. They want 65k plus for a similar truck now. My truck drives and still looks great. I will drive it till the wheels fall off with prices like this. Period. Stallantis needs to sell CDJR back to an American company. I believe they are the problem.
You did not pay 18.5 for a new 08 pickup in that year that is equally equivalent to a60k plus 24. I worked at a dealer and that comparable vehicle would have listed for the mid 30’s

Ultimately, this video sounds like defending the dealers and the company's that build these vehicles. People are tired of spending their money to buy a vehicle that should be $60,000 according to the dealer's websites and ended up priced for $350,000. And then find out the vehicle is loaded with problems.
If the Wrangler were still priced in the range it was 5+ years ago when it was overwhelmingly popular, it would have little to worry about from Toyota, INEOS, or Land Rover. Maybe the Bronco would have some impact. But Jeep has gone from playing in the utility vehicle and 3rd car market, to playing where it doesn't belong. Don't get me wrong. As a longtime Jeep and Toyota driver, I like both. I'm really intrigued by the INEOS, have no interest in a Land Rover anything, though I would get a vintage Defender if the prices weren't so stupid. But a 30 year old Defender doesn't put any money into Tata's pockets. At current Wrangler prices, the INEOS and Land Cruiser are direct competition. So is the rather overpriced Bronco. Even the GX is, for some models. I like my old Wrangler, but I probably wouldn't buy one today. For the prices they charged 5+ years ago, yes. For 100 grand? Come on. Even 75. A new 4Runner starts at $43k. I've had a couple of those and a couple Toyota trucks in the family, and much as I love my Jeep (bought it new, now it's vintage) a 4Runner, only recently the high-priced option, is just a better 4x4 for a lot less money.
You couldn't get the 6.4 hemi in the 1500 like GM. Then they get rid of the hemi. Two different power ratings for diesel. Finally, extremely overpriced on the entire ram lineup. Just call the Undertaker. RIP

The Good Car Bad Car data doesn't even pass the sniff test. It said Q2 US sales were 1/3 that of Q1 while Tesla's global sales were up over 10% QoQ. There's no way they magically sold 100k less vehicles in the US (their largest market) QoQ while growing sales globally 50k QoQ.

Here is a perfect example. In 2020 I bought my fully loaded all option Laramie 4x4, the msrp was 73k, and I received 10.5k off. The finance rate was 1.9%. Today the same truck is 83k, they are offering only 3k off and the finance rates are much higher. I need a new truck as I have nearly 150k miles on it but I will not pay these prices.

Manufacturers don’t realize how much of the sales is actually based on word of mouth rather then advertising, incentives or options. The Hemi enthusiasts were the ones actually selling dodge to others. Now that dodge abandoned the enthusiasts. The “dumb” buyers are not getting advice from the friend that recommends them a charger because it’s big and powerful and safe and easy to repair. So the “dumb” buyers will walk into some random dealer and buy the car with the biggest Apple car play screen. I personally have had 5 friends who sat in my charger for the first time experienced it the engine, the sound system and my passion for it that caused them to go out and buy one. If I was not their friend they would have been driving a FWD i4.
And just look at any comment section on dodge’s social media. 100% of actual owners of a dodge from 2005-2023 are making fun of how badly dodge has F ed up. Yet funny enough mechanics and the eastern countries have been taking much interest in those hemi cars. Russia is flooded with TRXs even the mobbsters have realized a TRX is way more luxurious, bigger interior and actually off-road capable vs the G wagon they loved so much. And you see mechanics recommending a used charger because parts are so affordable to maintain and how easy it is to work on. In 5-10 year from now chargers will be looked at like how most people view Toyota camrys in terms of long term reliability. And all the last 10 years they have been talking shit about the charger interior being cheap I don’t even understand that reasoning. It’s a beautiful design and simple. Very reminiscent of a 90s bmw. In the dash layout.
not an informed comment at all. If one only cares about the engine when purchasing a vehicle that's fine. But your example is the kettle calling the pot black. And a Hemi charger isn't reliable, safe or easy to fix. It's historically one of the most recalled vehicles in its segment and it's outdated it's literally a 20th century design.

It’s way more beefy then any other sedan on the road. The double wish bone on the charger is thicker then the one that comes on the cybertruck. Yeah they have stupid recalls for minor things. I never took my charger to the dealer. I do all the work myself. And it’s pretty fucking reliable. 24/7 people are doing doughnuts on the street and it still works. Try doing that with a camry you will break the whole drive train. And I’m not surprised you disagree. We need NPCs with cars all looking alike and bland. So people like you need to exist for us to drive past and look cool.

It starts at the top. Stellantis CEO has a track record of doing this stuff along with the "new breed" of ceo's. This is not inclusive to the auto industry. It is being done to a lot of companies. Stellantis should scrap dodge, Chrysler and ram. Keep only the Jeep wrangler and call the Ram pick up a Comanche under the Jeep name. It’s all trash but those two models might be able to survive.
After 13 years of loyalty to the Ram/Jeep brands, I gave up on them last summer. I traded my 2022 Ram Cummins to stop the bleeding on how quickly it was being devalued. There did not seem to be a bottom to how quickly that truck was losing value, all due to how Stellantis jacked up the prices and then offered $15K in discounts on new ones. Done with that.

However, with the 2500 Cummins trucks, for the time period 2010-2020 I was able to own/drive them for 24-30 months and then trade them with very little depreciation on a percentage basis. So it was a good run, but that run ended and once I figured that out, I bailed on the brand. I am not sure anyone but you (jwill540) is smart enough to have fully seen it coming and been able to totally avoid it.

People really can’t afford these giant vehicles. I bought recently a 3 cylinder compact car. 14 inch wheels. Its good on gas and fewer things to break and everything like tires or new radiator down the road is cheaper because its smaller.

Uconnect5 will nit let Waze or Google map use the full 12" screen- FROM ANDROID but I saw 1 video showing it would with apple. And the cam shaft is higher, not properly oiked, and fails- per many videos warning about that. DO NOT BUY A RAM, do not fund the UAW and their massive raises. Don't regret like I do. Hope the RAM dealer chokes on my purchase.

Dealership greed is the biggest problem. Price increases are a huge deal from Stallantis. My 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 was 36k on sticker, and I paid 18.5k. They want 65k plus for a similar truck now. My truck drives and still looks great. I will drive it till the wheels fall off with prices like this. Period. Stallantis needs to sell CDJR back to an American company. I believe they are the problem.
You did not pay 18.5 for a new 08 pickup in that year that is equally equivalent to a60k plus 24. I worked at a dealer and that comparable vehicle would have listed for the mid 30’s

Ultimately, this video sounds like defending the dealers and the company's that build these vehicles. People are tired of spending their money to buy a vehicle that should be $60,000 according to the dealer's websites and ended up priced for $350,000. And then find out the vehicle is loaded with problems.

If the Wrangler were still priced in the range it was 5+ years ago when it was overwhelmingly popular, it would have little to worry about from Toyota, INEOS, or Land Rover. Maybe the Bronco would have some impact. But Jeep has gone from playing in the utility vehicle and 3rd car market, to playing where it doesn't belong.
Don't get me wrong. As a longtime Jeep and Toyota driver, I like both. I'm really intrigued by the INEOS, have no interest in a Land Rover anything, though I would get a vintage Defender if the prices weren't so stupid. But a 30 year old Defender doesn't put any money into Tata's pockets.
At current Wrangler prices, the INEOS and Land Cruiser are direct competition. So is the rather overpriced Bronco. Even the GX is, for some models.
I like my old Wrangler, but I probably wouldn't buy one today. For the prices they charged 5+ years ago, yes. For 100 grand? Come on. Even 75.
A new 4Runner starts at $43k. I've had a couple of those and a couple Toyota trucks in the family, and much as I love my Jeep (bought it new, now it's vintage) a 4Runner, only recently the high-priced option, is just a better 4x4 for a lot less money.

You couldn't get the 6.4 hemi in the 1500 like GM. Then they get rid of the hemi. Two different power ratings for diesel. Finally, extremely overpriced on the entire ram lineup. Just call the Undertaker. RIP

The Good Car Bad Car data doesn't even pass the sniff test. It said Q2 US sales were 1/3 that of Q1 while Tesla's global sales were up over 10% QoQ. There's no way they magically sold 100k less vehicles in the US (their largest market) QoQ while growing sales globally 50k QoQ.
