I was there as a failed LCQ participant and then just an attendee. The event was amazing. Venue was incredible and the side events were great. Other than the problem with no shows in later rounds after everyone grabbed their promos and ran off to another event without dropping.
The food spread for the main event was quite good. I made it through LCQ and on the paper they gave me it said breakfast and lunch would be provided. They had coffee setup the whole time. Breakfast was cut up fruit, pastries, and yogurt with oj and apple juice. (No eggs or protein). During the first round they setup a snack table with cookies, little desserts, and whole fruit. Lunch was quite good. Salad, mushroom pasta or risotto (I didn’t have it), roasted chicken, beef brisket I believe it was, and salmon. There was also the same little desserts that had been setup between rounds.
Great recap! Enjoyed your takes on why the decks that advanced did well. I put together Ed's Ruby-Amethyst deck and had some trouble getting it to play well. I think Ed's skill level is way higher than mine and, the meta is likely a lot different than mine as well. Hope they don't put off Worlds too long. Also, hope there will be other high-level events until then to help fill the gap. Thanks again and looking forward to Ep85. 😎
Awesome vid guys! Hopefully this question gets found, saw mufasa at the cinema absolutely loved it! What are your guys thoughts on this…do you think we could ever get those cards in the game with it being a live action film? Young taka and mufasa would be awesome with shift lines and of course kiros🔥🔥 love to hear you opinion
Idk if i completely agree with the colors being worse as time goes on. I feel like some colors got a pretty decent big boost this set Blurple for example actually seems like a good deck now. Green blue got a pretty big boost yes its not meta but it doesnt seem as far off as it was. Purple steel came up. So if anything i think this set opened up the meta a bit more over the last couple sets at least.
I’m sorry frank, but your FaB story is exactly what happened to Jon. The judges did deck check in r5 and the judges found the card between lunch and r3. They asked him at open ended question and Jon answered with “I THINK it was r4 when I lost it” and the judges said “nope it was r3, we’ve had it the whole time”. This begs 2 questions, 1. Why did NOONE try and return the card to its owner to make sure the integrity of the event was upheld? 2. How does one lie about something they didn’t even know they did?. This is a major oversight on the judges and this DQ was an egregious error
I think it reminds me of “ally” colors in mtg. It took awhile for the “enemy” color pairs to finally take stable decks. It will just naturally take time to create more cards and nurture the ink identities? Just at least ambersteel finally gets a new archetype with in its color pairs to.
In regards to the DQ I may be miss remembering but iirc the guy at the top table had played back to back RB mirrors. Miss remembering which game was which after multiple Red Blue Mirrors sounds super reasonable. I think the DQ is fair depending on how exactly things were worded, which is a difficult he said but they heard situation. Like if he said I 100% had it last game, I won with it (it was his only foil copy so it was in some sense a 1 of in the deck) versus him saying, I know I won with it earlier today, I think it was last round but I'm not sure. And after being oressed to give a single answer said "probably last round." That doesn't sound like lying, just miss remembering. But the first one definitely sounds like trying to lie saying something like, "oh it was only just now I counted a little bit ago I must've just lost it." The difference between being "caught in a lie" and being sincerely mistaken is such a fine line.
Green Purple. Way too fast for Red/Blue, and can discard their songs via small Ursula and then keep them from singing at all with big Ursula. Also Kit to stop aggression like Daisy/Lilo/Piglet in it's tracks. Really works like a charm against both. But unfortunately loses heavily against Diggy Diggy Hole. Gl hf dude
In regards to a Lorcana digital client and the Disney polish. I believe you guys are over hyping the disney polish. There is a game called Dreamlight Valley that feels rushed and not super polished. I feel like a digital tcg client would be passable at that quality.
in regards to Disney i have more experience with Disney than most. and it depends on who is in charge/the liaison for the project. Disney has interactive studios ( Their video game leg of the company) which this would fall under. sooo seeing that RB is hiring depending on the position can mean that they are working with Disney interactive studios to make the game or there are just starting to build the team. lets hope that its the first one. otherwise client is 3 years out
To be fair a better player should win more often than not. There is always an element of luck but glad skill is rewarded. But saying that anomaly do happen. I have a player who is much better than me who cannot beat me even though we have a played a few times now ha
Let's take a moment and acknowledge that PPG is an absolute trash tournament organizer. The tournaments are fun because of the game and people and PPG consistently will leave a bad taste in your mouth and the DQ reasoning just adds to it on top of people with legit competitor tickets not being able to compete in the LCQ. Ravensburg either needs crack down on how it's ran or find a new organizer.
The squad is back!! Finally
Didn't know Brendan changed his name
This week's special guest Brendan! 🎉😂
"Pixelborn needs to come back!" Preach!!!!! We need it!
Get in Podcana time

I love that the better players rise to the top! Makes the game worth playing competitively.
Frank looks a bit different! Haha
😂 that was my exact thought
Fantastic casting this weekend Brenden!
Great episode! There’s nothing quite like the OG squad!

I just want to give moyen a shoutout for fixing potato mic. thank you
I hope ravensburger do something with card rarity. Opening packs of lorcana feels so poop.
Brendan it’s about time!
1:07:35 sounds like Brendan might leave. : ( Oh well, y'all do what's best for y'all! I'll keep listening either way!

this game is extremely match up dependent, and that is why consistent players play decks that don’t have extreme matchup spreads.
yooooo we get frank karsten
In a local meta full of traditional steelsong and some ruby/sapphire, what would you are play, aside from ruby/sapphire ?

FULL SQUAD!!!
Find someone who talks about you, like Brendan talks about Pixelborn ❤
(36:08-36:12 or the entire podcast really)

I thought Brendan threws away cards for fed up greedy capitalism 😂Honestly, being involved in cards doesn't seem good for his mental health.
