Great episode as always Joe, waking up to new episodes to watch on a Sunday morning in southern Europe is always a treat. By the way, you can zoom in the action in Demon’s Tilt, but it’s behind the pause menu under “Standard zoom” and “Multiball zoom”. Slide it to tighter and it really makes the difference. Jesus Joe, all you had to do was turn ball tracer on to see the ball better in Demon's Tilt. Plus the game was designed with tate in mind, not horizontal. Man, the one game on the list that was actually a really good spiritual sequel too!

@@thedeadpoolwhochuckles.6852 The point was that the stage hands were wearing black outfits in low light and dark backgrounds expressly so you didn't see them. The costume came about in kabuki performances where a stagehand, dressed in the 'ninja outfit' would suddenly murder someone and reveal themselves to NOT be a stage hand, quite literal third wall breaking. Normally you would fully ignore the stage hands to suspend disbelief as they were used to do things like change scenes, animate background set pieces and animals and otherwise just do non-acting related things.

I feel that that's a plague for modern gaming 😢

The game is also going to have tons of references to other games.

I know I have been leaving comments randomly and usually just end up writing some cockamamey tard stuff but I totally appreciate you, Joe. Red Cow Arcade, kind of pokes fun your way but in a way that acknowledges and respects your work/talent. Big Frankie fan...btw
You didn’t mention Left 4 Dead’s spiritual successors Evolve and the ill reviewed disappointment Back 4 Blood. They never live up to Left 4 Dead in every conceivable way considering they were made by the same damn team.
Great video, Joe! I’d love to see you talk about Snatcher and its spiritual successor 2064: Read Only Memories. ROM is one of my favorite indie games. Great story, gorgeous pixel art graphics, and good voice-acting. They even got the English actor who plays Gillian Seed in Snatcher to voice a character in their game; Dekker.
Virtua Cop 3 is badass, you get a floor pedal that lets you slow down time for as long as you want but you have to manage the time gauge so you can't abuse it, its arcade only so good luck finding one, i've only ever seen it at Gameworks when those were still a thing.
Thanks for giving Road Rash on the 3DO the mad props that it deserves. Yeah, you can play it on the Playstation or Saturn and the framerate is a bit smoother, but it just doesn't play or look quite the same, so the 3DO version remains my favorite. I have to mention, however, that I think Road Rash 64 on the N64 is extremely underrated. It doesn't look or feel much like a traditional 2D Road Rash game, and the graphics are really bland, but the gameplay is pure gold. It benefits from the ability to change different variables of the races, like how many pedestrians there are, cops, etc. If you have the slightest bit of imagination, this ups the replay value immensely. Sometimes I like to mow down as many pedestrians as possible, or sometimes I like to knock down as many opponents as possible, etc. It's really a great game, one of my favorites in the franchise.
The Fast Racing series (Fast Racing League on Wiiware, Fast Racing Neo on WiiU, and Fast RMX on Switch) is an excellent spiritual successor to F-Zero/Wipeout, with its own gimmick reminiscent of Ikaruga (you change polarization/color). The Torchilight series is a pretty good spiritual successor to the Diablo series.
Strider is one of my favourite arcade games. The weird sprite angles adds to the weirdness. It's just special. I feel the same for shadow dancer. A bit weird but super fun
One I remember was Demolition Racer for PS1. On the back of the PS1 case, it said it was the "spiritual successor to Destruction Derby 2". Destruction Derby 2 has a few proper sequels after with Destruction Derby Raw Destruction Derby Arenas.

Assigning a monetary value to words is pretty straightforward. I use this simple formula:
Number of syllables + the number of times you've heard people you ACTUALLY know use the word commonly +2 or -2 for correct/incorrect contextual usage = value in local currency.
The exchange rate is calculated by how many expletives/colourful metaphors you can use INSTEAD of the word in question, whilst still making sense to the people you are talking to. Bonus value is added if you can use a non-expletive instead and still make it sound like an expletive - I use nadgers instead of balls (not going to put the actual expletive here), for example. Finally an additional bonus is available if you can use a non-contextual, totally surreal alternative and still be understood - for example "I went to the bar last night, had a few too many drinks and was totally kettled!"

Yay, my favorite show for breakfast, greetings from Berlin, Germany!
Panzer Dragoon Remake is really beautiful
Game Sack, going strong for almost 15 years, no slobs, no drama, no zip tied tripods. In addition to genuine interest AND knowledge of the video subject.
I know I have been leaving comments randomly and usually just end up writing some cockamamey tard stuff but I totally appreciate you, Joe.
Red Cow Arcade, kind of pokes fun your way but in a way that acknowledges and respects your work/talent.
Big Frankie fan...btw
LOL zip tied tripods?
Joe where did you get that Ikaruga shirt? It’s sick!
I honestly don't even remember, had it for years.
Virtua Cop 3 is badass, you get a floor pedal that lets you slow down time for as long as you want but you have to manage the time gauge so you can't abuse it, its arcade only so good luck finding one, i've only ever seen it at Gameworks when those were still a thing.
Heh, I just saw that Osman was on the Xbox store last week, and wishlisted it immediately.
I need that shirt!
Good quality programing I can watch any time.
Thank you, sir.
We can't make jokes about religions, especially our Jewish friends, in Germany that easily. The joke about the bar mitzvah present made me crack up!
Ever look into the Rothschild/Hitler connection (theory)? Seems quite likely.
This channel keeps my love of retro Gaming alive 😊
One I remember was Demolition Racer for PS1. On the back of the PS1 case, it said it was the "spiritual successor to Destruction Derby 2". Destruction Derby 2 has a few proper sequels after with Destruction Derby Raw Destruction Derby Arenas.
