  • I’m reviewing the new 2023 Yonex Astrox Nextage badminton racket. This is a head heavy badminton racket aimed at intermediate players who might prefer a comfortable hitting feeling. The Yonex Astrox Nextage badminton racket incorporates VDM, Vibration Dampening Mesh which provides players with a comfortable and smooth hitting feel. One of the biggest differences I’ve realized is it sounds good!

      Hey, CK great video, I sense this maybe help dampen the mis-hits etc.
      On another topic, do you think you can do some updates/video on stringing?
      I've been doing it for 8-10yrs and of recently my rackets are becoming more circular shaped rather than oval. I have no idea why this is happening, but I've tried it on other electric machines and it's doing the same thing..
      I sense I maybe not tightening the clamps enough but they are "finger tight"... 2 piece, crosses I do bottom to top. Any suggestions welcomed!

    I recently purchased this racket and strung it with BG-80 at 26lbs and BOY it feels like a beast!!! Smashes and drops feel very crisp, but I had to exert more power for clear shots (which is fine IMO).
    Absolutely recommend it for intermediate players. Great videos @CKYew as always!!! Keep up the good work

    I had strung this racket with a Yonex Exbolt 63 string, however, stringing at my usual tension of 26lbs, I couldn't get a good repulsion from it. I had to restrung it to 22lbs to get the same repulsion power. The sound was really awesome though.

    I’ve loved your videos of all the tiered racket lines. How do you compare this to the mid tier (either Taiwan made versions) of the other Astrox series? I’ve been playing a NanoFlare 700 I picked out as my first racket and I’ve been enjoying it overall, I think I just prefer head heavy rackets. You say this is similar, but like a head heavy version, but would it be better to just go to 88D Game/Tour to try? It seems to slot in the middle price wise, but similarly to the 700/88D Play in terms of shaft flexibility.
    Thank you for any insight.

    Thank you so much for the review. I have watched your review at 3-4 times before deciding to get one. It is a racket that fit my playing style and I love the whippy feeling.
    Smashes are powerful that are easy to execute. The head heavy allows me to that. I figure out why the front court isnt so sharp that because of the swing speed as well as sweet spot. So you will be quite accurate. All in all thank you and an excellent racket.

    I know that yonex rackets are made very different from say li ning in terms of technology. I am really struggling on what would be the best string to put on it so i would really appreciate if you can give a response. But anyways thank u for the new content and take care always love from the philippines.

      There’s no single “best” string. It’s all down to what you prefer. I love Aerobite but you can also try something like the BG80

    I have a question. I originally thought that your preferred string was the aerobite. Is the the string the astrox 88S pro strung in aerobite in blue color or is it a different string you are trying out? (+ if it is a different string, can you tell me which string it is and briefly how it feels compared to the aerobite and BG 80?)

    • @CKYew
      @CKYew  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, blue string is a different string and not my usual Aerobite. It was the Li Ning no.1

      It costs about €150 here in Germany, which means it is in the same price range with other astrox tour series.

      @@srijithbrothers I'm not sure. But based on specs and some reviews it quite roughly the same with tour series.

    • @eliezerjk90
      @eliezerjk90 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@srijithbrothers actually I just realized that the material is nanomesh neo, meanwhile astrox tour use namd for the shaft (the frame still use nanomesh neo). Namd is normally used in higher end rackets (the pro series are made entirely from namd), so I guess yonex cut some corner here. The addition of VDM is maybe what compensate the absence of namd. Also the frame is only half recessed (compared to full recessed frame on tour series). In the end, it is clear that this is a mid-tier racket and yonex cut some corner here.
      To be completely honest, my first impression (purely based on specs) is that nextage is a bit inferior compared to the tour series. Nevertheless, in the end what really important is how it performs and fits your play, which is highly subjective.

    Hi CK, im currently using AX 77 pro and im looking for a 2nd racket that could switch in between (in the case of broken string) and has similar feelings as the 77 pro. I was wondering if this racket is suitable for myself as a 2nd racket, as in this video you said that the feeling is almost identical to the 77 pro. So may i ask for your opinion, whether should i get this racket or normal AX 77 ? Im looking for either one of it because both of them have similar feelings to the 77 pro and i don't wanna spend additional time to adapt to another type of rackets xD
    Would love to hear from you asap ! thanks alot in advance
