    Those woofers remind me of the old mbquartsz shallow stuff with inverted motors. Companies like alpine and pioneer/TAD moved to hybrid carbon plastic for better cone damping pioneer called it imx and was in the ex-2 and such and the prs stage 4. The carbon cones on my old Orion nt though are pure carbon and have a more forward sound to them. Increasing kms suspension stiffness usually controls the low end rolloff. It increases q and raises fs. I prefer low QTs driver usually as low qes indicative of a strong motor and it’s hard to lower q putting it in a box.

    you can use a banana plug for the crimp cable connectors so your cable end doesnt get damaged.

    The adire extremis 6.8 has 26 mm xmax total or 13 mm one way. Unfortunately I think they stopped making them. They would blow these away and most other midbass in the low end extension range.

    There are alloys of copper that use beryllium, which itself is very light. It's passible they are using that.

    What would be a good value 6.5" driver to be crossed over between 200hz and 280hz? Looking for SQ first, not loudness.

      Go to the forums for that kind of info. Youll get answers from people with actual experience in car audio and products.
      You're likely get terrible advice on boobtube, from a dude that watched a few videos and thinks he knows what he is talking about.

    hey i have a few questions. any info on those tweeters? those look very different from all 3 sets of carbon tweeters i have currently that came with my c3, c6, and c8 sets. all mine have a darker dome, and have a much deeper rear wave chamber. not sure if those are updated/newer? which would be odd because they haven’t been made for a while. and also the c6 basket looks different, kinda like how they upgraded the c8 from sharp edged spokes to a more curvy basket design. also looks like newer/more updated, but i can’t find a single photo or mention of new tweeters/woofers anywhere. just any info in where they came from or tweeter info would be awesome.

      These sets were sent to me from India,so they might have slightly different designs for that market.

    I also detest those press terminals - they seem to be a ‘professional’ affectation - popular amongst pros because it enables quick replacement of damaged drivers. But unless you regularly blow drivers they are of zero benefit and, as you say, just give a crap connection.

    4" components aren't very common these days, let alone a 3.5" component set. A bit overpriced it would seem. I'm curious as to the pricing on thier other series component sets.

      Do youself a favor and hit the forums. Theres a wealth of information, charts, comparisons, ect . I got the TM 8s which are great. So the TM65 might be a good option. But the forums is the place to find the right speaker, specifically considering all the diffenrent parameters at play (price, location, power, system setup, ect).

    That tweeter looks like a gold anodised aluminium dome to me and I see no evidence of copper (I see no reason why copper would even be desirable) or beryllium.

      @@drrckhamilton , well, I’ve no hard evidence but I do have 30+ years in the HiFi industry and also in design and production and I’ve seen a lot of dome tweeters, soft, hard, aluminium, beryllium and ceramic - and this one could not look more like an anodised aluminium dome.

      Lol....ok. I don't in any way doubt your credentials. I was just a bit surprised that someone would make a pointed statement after a relatively short TH-cam video.

    • @AudioFlat
      @AudioFlat 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry, it comes over as very blunt but I didn’t really mean it to be quite so pointed. So, here’s the thing, if you cast your mind back to the very early days of metal dome tweeters Celestion used copper because of its ductility and this allowed it to be pressed into the required shape - but in every other respect copper is poor, it’s heavy and not very stiff, so the major breakup mode is only just above 20K. Copper beryllium is copper with a tiny amount of beryllium alloyed in to it to make it stiffer - it’s still heavier than aluminium though and isn’t that distinctly gold colour of these tweeters. So perhaps it’s gold lacquered to protect the finish (and add more weight). I suppose what I’m trying to say is that I sense smoke and mirrors at work rather than genuine technical sophistication.

      @@williamblackwell9558 I don't necessarily disagree with you because I'm fully aware you can get the same domes from Melodavid for very cheap. I'm just curious how you know for a fact there is no Beryllium in the tweeters is all? I would think they have to have a certain amount to try to put it in the name. I definitely know they aren't a full Beryllium dome with a copper coating or something of that nature because as you said they can be had for cheap and Beryllium isn't cheap as far as I know.
