Thornielee MTB is brilliant... And steep!

- Welcome to Thornielee Enduro trails, part of the famous Tweed Valley trail network. Undoubtedly these trails are up there with some of the best trails in Scotland and the UK and should definitely be on any riders must-ride list!
If you are looking for new MTB destinations or fancy revisiting some classic mountain bike trails, Thornielee has to be on your 2022 list.

The trails here have a pretty unique feel about them and there is quite a range of trails to find challenge on. The top half of the hill has a more mellow gradient whereas the bottom half of Thornielee forest can get very steep, very quickly! Al the trails feel pretty natural and all have a mix of loose rock and rooty sections.
In this video we ride 4 fantastic Thornielee trails - Tiger King, Lower Definition, Stones & Bones and Bench Press.

The video was shot on a GoPro Hero 7 mounted on the chin of an Endura MT500 full face helmet.

Ah come on man, those grips have to change to bright blue to match the rest of your ensemble! Take it that's yer favourite colour. I actually felt queasy myself on that really steep trail in the middle, and that's on TH-cam. The last trail is where I'll start methinks when I head that way.
Ha ha. I do like blue although I have a blue and pink thing going on with that particular bike. Yeah, some of the trails are very steep there. They properly take your breath away. Defo get yourself there soon!

Hey mate. They really are pretty exceptional. I feel like Innerleithen and The Golfie take a lot of people's attention as they are only 15-20 minutes away and are exceptional in themselves. However, I think Thornielee holds it's own and is definitely worthy of a visit 👍 Where are you based?
@@streetpigeonmtb bit of a trek away.. I live near Macclesfield forest in Cheshire. There's a few places up in Scotland that are definitely on my 'to visit' list! Plus the scenery is stunning, winner all round!

Bench press is fantastic. It's just flat out fun. Lower definition was also running fantastically well. Those two were stand out for me 👍

Trail conditions are insane for the time of year! You could be forgiven for thinking this was filmed in the summer.

Great video and amazing looking trails. Curious what tyres/pressures and liners your using? I’m running various compound Maxxis tyres (DD/Exo3c) at 25/28psi with Vittora airliners. I’m on a roll of tearing tyres at the minute and it’s getting expensive! Maybe it’s my technique but I’m also a HT rider and think I’m fairly smooth and quick? Cheers

I'm 78kg. The following might surprise you as I run a pretty light setup.
Shorty 2.4 front, DHR2.4 rear, both EXO 3C. 19psi front, 22 rear (although I run much higher on mountains 26psi/28psi).
Also, no inserts. Just tubeless 👍

Making out it's really hard!!! Muahahahahaha.. To be fair it really is steep as heck! Boulders are killer too and the climb is a beast.
However, 😅 I did do it on a fatty with 4.8 Surly Bud and 100mm RS Blutos. 😆

Your rebound is quite noisy
It is. That noise is one of my favourite things on the fork. I know it's daft, but I love hearing it. Especially when you get into the rough stuff 👍
