That's my favourite of the 7 Staines. The McMoab ridge is humbling for skills build. Well worth the big drive. The red is great too. Just slightly less height in the rocky gardens. You are mentally active all the time on the trails there.
Great edit as always. I rode the red & black trails last summer & was pretty knackered at the end of that ride, which was 31 km. There were more than a couple of features where I dabbed, including McMoab. Kirroughtree deffo one of the best trail centers I've been to. If you're taking requests I'd love to see you ride Dalbeattie as I missed that one last time I was in Scotland & I've heard it's good.
Genuinely, this is a brilliant video. Superb footage and balance of tunes, commentary, drone shots, FPV and scenery and trail features. You've brought it all together fabulously. 👍🤘🥇
Love the drone footage mate 😍, gives a great view of McMoab, don't think that area of trail will get boring. Bonking happens to the best of us and is such a crap feeling - respect for leaving it in the video 👍
Another great video. A few years since I rode kirroughtree but looks as good as I remember it.I remember it took us 4hrs to do the full ride, and I was shattered after. Best trail centre I've ridden.
That makes me feel better. I think the fact it is constantly up and down really takes it out of the legs. You've got to work really hard to keep pace up. I was done 🤣
Oh Jamie that brings back memories. Last time I was there was in 2015 with son Leon, every summer we went on a 4 or 5 days MTB road trip, good times. Great vid, as always very honest (re bonk), trails there look like there holding up well and still a challenge.
🤣 Thanks Jason. I was pleased with my riding, especially on the technical McMoab section! Balance was required 🙈 So pleased you enjoyed the video. What Bird did you go for?
Cheers bud. It's one of the 7 Stanes centres. They were massively popular back in the day and had a lot of investment. They've declined a bit now but they still offer some good XC riding. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Thats my local! Doing the full black + Mcmoab is a pretty long day for sure. We have a whole bunch of off-piste hidden away, the PMBA do an Enduro at Kirro every year, Im sure you would like some of the naturals as well.
Ah mate. I was feeling your pain. It's a great place but the fitness requirement is high if you want to ride at a decent pace. So many punchy climbs to kill the legs!
We've all been there Jamie good to see you taking the sensible option and bailing for the day, have to say the drone is next level stuff, absolutely love this one pal really good stuff 👍
Nice! Not heard from you in a while Andy. Hope you are all good. Yeah, I'm old/wise enough to realise when I'm past it. If I had pushed on I think I could have spannered myself. Best to chill and ride again another day. Also, the next vid is going to be a biggie 🤫 Need to be fighting fit for it 🙌
@Street Pigeon MTB I've been out of action for a week while but all good, the bike however is still at the bike doctor in Inners...New motor getting fitted for the weekend 👍 looking forward to seeing your next one Jamie keep up the excellent work
Hi buddy. It's worth a visit. The black is very XC and you have to work hard to find pace, however it still has a place IMO. The McMoab feature is really good. I could've played on that for longer. I believe there is some really good off-piste stuff as well, so I am pretty sure you could make a really interesting route up.
It's about 12 years since I was there last, I think it's time for a return trip. We spend so much time searching out knarly trails we forget about the good centres like this one.
Totally Gordon. Easy done though. I'm really enjoying varying my riding a bit more recently. It's great to revisit some old places and see what they are like now 👍
I've been in same situation there, I know all the shortcuts back to the start 😂😂 it's still my favourite 7 stane for views and tech but you need a full fat breakfast before you start. Nearly all the trails used to be tree-lined which has robbed it off some of its character but I still love it. Doing the red twice on a hardtail is my top tip, learning the blind lines first time round. The end of the red / blue is epic.
Thanks Alan. I'd like to get back, this time well fed and rested. I'm keen to do a guide of the red but also explore some of the off piste. Cheers for confirming it is a place that can send people over the energy edge!
@Street Pigeon MTB fair play on the chute as well. I wanted to go in straight but there's that hole on the right you avoided by turning into the chute - I didn't fancy it!
I get that. There is something about steep chutes that play with the mind - it's maybe because we deal with them so infrequently. I was deffo pleased to tick that one off, although I was more pleased at how I navigated McMoab. I felt I rode that well. Do you get up to the Tweed Valley much?
@Street Pigeon MTB I live near Pitmedden so have Comrie, Dunkeld and Deuchny Hill close by. Pitlochry, Laggan and Aviemore are all about the same time to travel as Tweed Valley so don't get down that often. Family in D&G means I'm more often at Ae, Mabie, Dalbeattie or Kirry.
Did you read the map before you set off??? 31km for the RED and BLACK. Peaked too soon guys :) Best trail centre :) Kirroughtree is great for all, but the RED and Black is amazing on a trail style EBIKE!! Murray's monument is celebrating a local scholar and philanthopist in the 1900's.
Nothing worse than a bonk. Only done it once myself in horrendous conditions. Thankfully I wasn’t far from the car which contained snacks to recover with. Great video, drone footage was 👌🏻
Cheers buddy! Yeah, if you know you know. They are not pleasant are they? My own fault though... A busy week at work not eating well and not sleeping well. Compounded by little food on the day. You live and learn 🤦♂️ Cheers for taking time to comment. I really appreciate the positivity 👍
I reckon Kirroughtree is great for the Uber fit xc riders, really felt your pain, it seems to go up endlessly with little bits of down that end just when you are starting to enjoy them. I ended up going so slowly I was cycling in a cloud of clegs, at least that's what I think they are called!
Ooft! That sounds brutal. I think cleggs would've got me riding faster. I'm scared of them 🤣 Yeah, it's deffo XC vibes. The undulations kill the legs. Saying that, there are some fantastic little sections and features. I think it would be incredible on an ebike!
Hi Connor. Yup, the hope is to get some riding up there as soon as the trails are open. I'm really excited about it. It looks like a total flow fest! Are you local to the area?
Hardtail is all good but I've been rehabbing an achiles injury since December. I'm struggling with the feedback from the hardtail and the injury is taking priority. I'm hoping to be back on it during the summer. I still have a bit of strengthening to do though 👍

Agreed. The McMoab section is so unique. Love it 😀
Nice mate. Enjoyable watch
Thanks Lewis! That's made my day. Glad you enjoyed it bud 👍 😁
You'll have to head back and ride the naturals there - well worth it 👌 great vid Jamie 👍
Thanks Julia. I deffo want to give the naturals a go. Cheers buddy 😁
Great edit as always. I rode the red & black trails last summer & was pretty knackered at the end of that ride, which was 31 km. Totally agree with you mate. And I am always open to requests. I really need to get a list made up. So many places I want to ride and share!
Have ridden here about 4 times as closest place to my in-laws. Loved mcmoab. More fun on e bike though.
It would be such a good ebike trail 💪
Excellent video of a wonderful trail centre. Absolutely brilliant Jamie. 🤠
Thanks buddy. It was a fun one to edit 👍 Hope you are all good bud 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb Tip top Jamie. Cheers. 🤠
Genuinely, this is a brilliant video. Superb footage and balance of tunes, commentary, drone shots, FPV and scenery and trail features. You've brought it all together fabulously. 👍🤘🥇
Thanks so much mate. That means a lot. I was really pleased when I'd finished the edit. Definitely feel like I've found my style now. Cheers buddy 👍
Good work doing the shoot at McMoab, I've never had the bottle!
Cheers pal. I loose my bottle at loads of stuff so I was pleased to go for this chute 🤙
Love the drone footage mate 😍, gives a great view of McMoab, don't think that area of trail will get boring. Bonking happens to the best of us and is such a crap feeling - respect for leaving it in the video 👍
Cheers Marcus. I'm trying to keep the vlogs as honest as possible mate - even if it includes the odd bonk 🙈
Oh no. Nothing left in the tank - not good! Great video though mate. After reading the title, I was wincing as you were riding up that slab.
Ha ha. I bet! Man, that slab is so cool. Having faith that the bike will hold on is something else. Good times Darren 👍
Years ago i was there.. looks better now nice edit
Cheers Scott. Appreciate that. Just wish I hadn't ran out of energy!
@Street Pigeon MTB when i was there most of it was closed..where u cross fire road it was shut there as a car rally was on.. typical eh
Aw mate. Yup typical. Especially when you've travelled nearly 3 hours 🤦♂️
@@streetpigeonmtb Definitely. But worth the effort.👍
😁👍
Oh Jamie that brings back memories. Last time I was there was in 2015 with son Leon, every summer we went on a 4 or 5 days MTB road trip, good times. Great vid, as always very honest (re bonk), trails there look like there holding up well and still a challenge.
That's lovely man! It's all about the memories eh?! 😁👍
I also have a BIRD and an Endura jacket and shorts but apparently they didn't come with the skills extra! Brilliant stuff
🤣 Thanks Jason. I was pleased with my riding, especially on the technical McMoab section! Balance was required 🙈 So pleased you enjoyed the video. What Bird did you go for?
"I need some descent"!! 😂😂
Place looks great, did remind me of Laggan with all that rock.
Ha ha. I kept that bit in the edit as that was the point I knew I was finished! Yeah, it definitely shares some features with Laggan 😁
Never heard of this place before. Looks very similar to Balblair, another trail centre loop up near me. Class video jamie 👏 👌
Cheers bud. It's one of the 7 Stanes centres. They were massively popular back in the day and had a lot of investment. They've declined a bit now but they still offer some good XC riding. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Great vid bro nice place too. Did fantastic Boyz 👏 👏
Cheers buddy! A day of two halves for sure, but worth it for the McMoab section. Loved it ❤️
Thats my local! Doing the full black + Mcmoab is a pretty long day for sure. We have a whole bunch of off-piste hidden away, the PMBA do an Enduro at Kirro every year, Im sure you would like some of the naturals as well.
Ah cheers. I'm definitely keen to get back and give the naturals a go. Hope you enjoyed the vid bud 👍
Love a bit of reality, it's happened to us all and it will happen again ....Great video 🤟🤟
Thanks buddy. It's good to keep it real, even when it involves a bit of failing!
@Street Pigeon MTB heayyy , you hit the trails on your ride , no such thing as a fail 🤟🤟
True mate 👍
Great video and commentary as always 👍 I was told that it was pronounced Croff-tree but maybe that was because I was an Englishman 😂
Thanks mate. Appreciate that. It's not the most straightforward pronunciation!
McMoab looks almost trials like 😅. Well done! I’m really enjoying techy climbs after Spain so may need to get myself down here sometime! Great vid 🙌
It's definitely a bit trials like. I really enjoyed the challenge! Good to have you guys back 😁
Great video drone footage was cracking. I struggled with Kirroughtree, really enjoyable trails but too long for my rubbish fitness level 😂
Ah mate. I was feeling your pain. It's a great place but the fitness requirement is high if you want to ride at a decent pace. So many punchy climbs to kill the legs!
@Street Pigeon MTB Yeah the undulations make it really tough, ill be better prepared next time now i know what to expect though!
Yeah. Me too buddy! I feel like I have unfinished business there 👍 Good luck on your return 😁
Love it mate, McSquamish looks great! 😂
🤣 It sure does! Great name for it 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb love techy trails like that.
Yeah mate. They are a real test and a lot of fun 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb really does look great riding mate, hope the cramps weren't too bad.
I have to get back there for that granite and amazing smoked salmon.
It's a cool place. Hope you get back 👍

@ 13:18 - That's called Murray's Monument. commemorates a local chap, Alexander Muarry from the late 18th century I think
Ah nice. Yeah, I'd been meaning to look it up... But I didn't have time I was flat out trying to get the edit done 🤦♂️Cheers for the info.
I've been in same situation there, I know all the shortcuts back to the start 😂😂 it's still my favourite 7 stane for views and tech but you need a full fat breakfast before you start. Kirroughtree is great for all, but the RED and Black is amazing on a trail style EBIKE!! Murray's monument is celebrating a local scholar and philanthopist in the 1900's.
Ha ha. Yeah, we read the map. I just forgot to eat and had a busy week at work that week. You live, you bonk and you learn 🤣

Hi Connor. Yup, the hope is to get some riding up there as soon as the trails are open. I'm really excited about it. It looks like a total flow fest! Are you local to the area?
My least favourite trail centre I've been too , I need to revisit and try it with the ebike and see if it's any better.
I think it would be incredible on an ebike. It would just be so much fun 👍
I’m doing the Kirroughtree enduro in September, did you or have you done any of the ‘off piste’ stuff there?
Hi mate. I haven't don't any of the off piste but I'm hoping to get back there for that very purpose. Is that the PMBA enduro?
Yes Jamie it’s the PMBA enduro, I know it’s a fairly grassroots one but should still be good fun
If I make it down to ride some off-piste I'll make sure to take the camera and do a vid 👍
What's happened to your hardtail? I would have done something like this on mine.😊
Hardtail is all good but I've been rehabbing an achiles injury since December. I'm struggling with the feedback from the hardtail and the injury is taking priority.
I'm hoping to be back on it during the summer. I still have a bit of strengthening to do though 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb the hardtail is defo more physical than a full suss!
It sure is! 💪😬
