"The Long & Winding Road" is from The Beatles' last album "Let It Be" in 1970. It was written by Paul McCartney & was released a month after the Beatles' break-up. It became the group's 20th & last number one hit.

@@dagmar.6954 Then you have to define "considered". It's very true that _Let It Be_ was the final album they RELEASED, but it was RECORDED months *_before_*_ Abbey Road,_ making _Abbey Road_ their final *_creation,_* the last work they did together, which is fundamentally more significant to count as "their final album".

Phil Spector put the Orchestra backing the long and winding Road. Paul was furious and you can find the original the way that Paul wanted it to be done. But the other three Beatles this was during their time that they were all arguing and just blew him off. If you can find the other version it's absolutely beautiful. And it's also interesting how Phil specter did work with the Beatles. But John is the one that got close to him Phil shot a gun off into the ceiling. Then he took all the tracks and John had a heckuva time getting them back it was after they split

      @michaelhuttig6596 ปีที่แล้ว +8

@@thetruthfornow6045 Paul hated the strings like hell and even said so time and time again.
But he realized that it was part of the way people knew the song and therefore recreated it (or better sort of, cause he hated the choir even more and never had a huge orchestra with him) when doing it live.
The version on Let it be naked was made with him being involved, but not so the famous original.
That was given to Phil Spector to "finish" it after the Beatles actually split up.
That also explains why George Martin wasn't involved.
I think Paul was very right about it.

3:19 I think it's a song about both. It's obviously about John and how he feels about him and the history they have together. He knows they will always be friends (The long and winding road that leads to your door will never disappear.) He seems to allude to the stormy and crazy times of being in the Beatles and how it caused them to drift apart eventually, and this makes him very sad. (The wild and windy night that the rain washed away has left a pool of tears.) Finally he accepts that things will never be the same between them but needs to be reassured that he will never be far away. (Don't leave me waiting here. Lead me to your door.) Beautiful song.

McCartney later re-mixed all of the songs, taking out the heavenly choirs and Spector's "wall of sound" production and released a very stripped down, "Let It Be - Naked" album that I quite enjoy.

Hard to believe you never heard this timeless song before. Composed by Paul at his farm in Scotland, during an emotional time, knowing the band was nearing an end. I read somewhere that the "long and winding road" lyric was inspired literally by scenic view of his farm along coast. The original recording did not have the orchestra and choir. Producer, Phil Spector added that later, which infuriated McCartney and accelerated the band's breakup. Both versions were released.

It is ironic that Paul himself HATED this version with the Phil effect as he took over as producer of the album. I personally liked the orchestral effect but admit, having heard the version he prefers, I get his point. His vocals are so drowned out by the orchestra. My favorite version is the solo version on 'Give My Regards to Broad Street' using a sax.

    a) The Beatles: "Get Back" miniserie televisiva documentario del 2021 diretta da Peter Jackson. The Long and Winding Road"
    b) Il Film "Yesterday"... non ti racconto nulla ma è VERAMENTE divertentissimo... cercalo!!!
Scusa se mi sono dilungata ma ho capito che sei avido di bella musica e devi ancora crescere.
    Con Affetto

If someone is seeing this twice it's because I thought I sent it but evidently not. Phil Spector if you remember the trial for murder. He's the one that did the orchestral background to this. Paul was furious. This was after the Beatles split or at least were just arguing that time because the three of them had gone with Alan Klein. And Alan Klein was also mainly responsible for this he turned this over to Phil Spector. Paul was furious he wanted the original version to go on let it be. You can find the original version I don't think this one is too bad but I do think the orchestra does over it because this is a beautiful song. And Paul always has the best instinct as to what's best for his songs. And FYI George Martin did not get the proper credits for this. This was a big deal back then. The public didn't know so much. We didn't have the information back then that we do today. Pardon any misspelled words I have to use the visual issues and I can't edit.

The Beatles did not write this Paul McCartney wrote it. If you can recognize the voices who's ever singing wrote it. There are the times they went in and George would do his thing and Ringo would put his drums on to it. But for the most part Paul created most of his songs

I much prefer the version from the Let it Be Naked album. Just piano, bass, drum without all those strings and choir voices smothering it. Crazy ass Phil Spector added all the strings and ruined it. McCartney hated this version and had a fit when he heard it.

Yes your are 100% right McCartney, hated the over production of it by Phil Spector, so much it was never released as a single in the UK at the time

Check out the mix on LET IT BE ...NAKED and hear the song as it was originally recorded (but unreleased until 2003). You actually hear the other Beatles and keyboardist Billy Preston on that version. George's guitar parts and Billy's keyboards on that version is better than the choir and strings on this version.

I love almost everything the Beatles ever did, and this is another great one. The only thing weak about it is that Lennon, who hated playing the bass, did a terrible job with it on this track. I could hear the clams even as a teen in 1970.

Amazing that they could find someone that actually wrote better music then Paul isn't it? And just think, Paul's brother having to stay close with William even though there was no need after the Beatles broke up. Did you know that Williams brother Bruce played Ash in the Evil Dead?? Nepotism... am I right?
