I was in a dark place after my husband had a health diagnosis. Someone gifted me a ukulele and this has pulled me out and made me smile. Learning slowly.
@@susanoven3175 I hope your husband is ok. I also hope that the ukulele brought some light into your life. I was sick and stuck in bed for over a year. Suddenly one day, took my wheelchair and went with a friend to a music shop. She was shocked since she tried getting me out of the house for months. I had no idea why but I was drawn to music and wanted to get an instrument. I got a ukulele, knowing nothing about it. On the car radio back home, it was playing "Here Comes the Sun" and I was in tears because it was like I was finally starting to live my life again after being bedridden for so long. I've learned the basic chords to this song and advancing into the fingerpicking now. Truly a beautiful instrument and a beautiful song. The pull to music is definitely healing and miraculous. ❤️
I'm really enjoying your tutorials. I am 68 years old and have been learning to play the ukulele for some time. It's a really fun instrument. Through your superb tutorials I have learnt to play "Don't Worry Be Happy", "Stand By Me" and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". Now comes the big challenge, "Here Comes The Sun". I've not done finger picking before. This is going to take some considerable time but I won't give in! Thank you Cynthia. Playing the ukulele has been invaluable to me during these Covid-19 times.
Thanks so much for what you're doing here, I am 65 and had a stroke about 18 months ago, it's not that bad, lost some coordination in my left hand, but I'm determined to learn this song. Just started learning the uke two months ago. Got to go, time to practice!
I have watched several ukulele tutorials for this song and had unanswered questions with all of them until finding this Cynthia Lin video. This video is the most complete instruction available. I went to her website and downloaded the pdf. It is perfect. I recommend that we viewers donate what we can to compensate her for this work!
I don’t know if you ever read the comments but I’m having so much fun with your uke tutorials. I’m looking forward to playing this for my dad on his birthday. My sister died nearly 2 years ago and my brother 2 years before that. Your angelic voice and bright smile have brought light into my life again. Thank you for sharing.
There are a lot of humans on this planet and you have got to be one of the best. Thank you so much for these wonderful tutorials, you are an amazing teacher!
i am 58, beginner with no talent and this is the first song im learning have way over a hundred hours into it and i still suck but there is progress every day!!!!, so now its playing it 15 times day for the next 30 days then maybe it will be mine? maybe! thanks Cynthia!!
Hi Guy...hang in there! I'm about a month into learning the Uke, too. Still trying to master different strumming patterns, esp the island strum. This one's killing me! So many elements to keep in mind, but I'm in it for the long haul. Good luck!
I am here with you, Guy. Keep playing as much as you can. I go from acoustic guitars to my ukulele several times a day, and I'm slowly getting better. Cynthia is a wonderful teacher!
I got a ukulele back in January. I found this video really early on, but it was far too advanced for me. However, I recently got into a slump. I hit my plateau. I play quite often, and I LOVE it, but I wasn't challenging myself. I decided to focus on more challenging fingerpicking. I was playing around one day and I heard that little 2 3 0 3 melody and was reminded of this video! Although I couldn't even play the chorus at full speed back when I found the video many months ago, muscle memory has not failed me! I have now learned the whole song! Thank you so much, Cynthia!
Just stumbled across your page. You rock! I’ve watched thousands of hours of random videos, but everyone wants you to pay to continue. You rock so much! In a couple hours of watching your vids I’m learning so many new skills!
Hahaha OMG Cynthia! Way to go exploding my brain!!! I absolutely LOVE your tutorials. You are the BEST uke teacher on TH-cam my miles and miles, so God bless you for your efforts! I’ve been playing uke for 6 months now and you have been my teacher from the get-go and I am doing really well, however, I think I need to go slowly with this one or even leave it for a while longer before I attempt it. All those numbers that you’re saying are ringing in my head LOL!!! LOVE U!LOVE U! LOVE U! MWAH! Would love you to come to Perth Australia (Melbourne is 4.5hrs flight away so I couldn’t go see you there). Thanks again and best wishes. LF
Thank you so much for creating content like this! I've had a ukulele for a couple of years and haven't had the money for lessons. You are seriously amazing! Can't wait to learn from you!
Brilliant lesson, took a couple of hours but picked it up pretty well. N.B Do as the pretty lady says. Keep the chord shapes n take your time. It's uke for dummies!! Fantastic!!! Thank you.
Hello from Brasil! I start this tutorial at my first day whit the ukulele, practicing every day a little bit. Took me 2 months, but now I'm playing! Love it!!
Well you guessed it... got a uke for xmas hehe. LOVE your videos thank you :) This instrument is so peaceful wow!! The intricate simplicity of it is amazing. Not easy as I though. Beautiful songs, beautiful teacher!. Happy new year Cynthia :)
Great tutorial and learnt it all well, although it was very frustrating how you didn't have a full song play through, so now I'm having to piece every little part of the video together just to make the song flow.
I've been practicing this for month still not finished yet, but something bothering me. On the extra fill #1 A--2--2------0--2----------| E--3------3-----------2--0-| C--2--------------------------| G--0--------------------------| the two last notes on the E string you said --2--0 but on your video you play --3--0- So maybe I'm mistaken but I wanted to know :) Thanks very much for all your video, i'ts a very big inspiration and I learn a lot from you :) !!
In the print out of the cord chart, it says 3-0, sense she plays it like that, and it's on the print out. I think it's safe to assume it's to be played as 3-0.
Aloha! Great lesson, many thank! One sugestion though: A complete playthrough at the beginning or end of the lesson would be helpful, in order to properly hear how the end result is supposed to sound. Best greetings from the far away land of Germany!
Hello Cynthia, I just discovered your tutorials. Thank you so much for these, you're very pedagogue. I found a tiny error in this one : at 17'27" you end the extra fill#1 in G by 2 3 0 2 3 0 but you write on screen 2 3 0 2 2 0. I understand that 2 3 0 2 3 0 is the right one but it was a bit confusing. Anyway, you play so perfectly and have such a nice voice that anybody would fall into your charms. Thank you again and please... continue like this.
Thank you again, Cynthia for sharing your tutorials with world wide ukulele players. I tried this on my tenor with low G , first, but actually like it better on my Romero Tiny Tenor, which has a high g now. I like the brighter sound with this song & think you are also using a high g? As to the picking, I'm still working on it and know you say that whatever works is okay. I'm wavering between using my thumb and three fingers or just using my thumb, except when I need to pluck multiple strings. Haven't decided which is easier for me.
Thank you so much for all your amazing videos. I'm so happy to have finally mastered this one. Gonna be so much fun to take camping this weekend. Also, I would be SOOO grateful if you could pretty please post the tab for the finger picking you use while singing for the #100DaysofUkeleleSongs project. I feel it really helps with the flow of the song (start and finish slow and pretty with picking, strumming in the middle). Cheers!
@cynthia lin- I agree. I am working my way through learning this song but I would love to learn the version you play on #100DaysofUkuleleSongs. Thank you for all your tutorials!
And also thank you for the hint on how to download the chord chart for free. Thanks a bunch i didnt cause some dollars .By the way im from the Philippines and im just 10 years old . I hope I will learn ukulele soon as a pro!😇😇😇☺☺😊😊
An alternative within the chorus picking riff, based on the G chord shape is to, instead of: C--2--4 and E-- 3 doing: C --2 and E -- 0 -- 3. 4 on the C string is E and I find it easier to hold the G chord, pluck the 2 on the C string, lift off my ring finger and pluck the open E string and put it back on 3 again.
I love your tutorials so much I'm going to join the Patreon page! Thank you for making lessons accessible and affordable for all!!! What kind of wood is on the front/top of your ukulele? I have this on the sides of my uke and I've forgotten what wood it is!
Hello Cynthia. Thank you very much for your tutorials. You are a wonderful teacher. You break everything down to make even the clumsiest fingers follow you! I have a question: in the extra fill#1, in your cover, you do something intricate and magical with your fingers on the D finger picking. Would it be possible for you to explain??? Thank you! xxx
Thank-you Cynthia for this and all your tutorials. This one's a little more complicated than past tutorials and a welcomed step-up. That's a beautiful uke by the way. Is it mango?

Thank you Cynthia for this tutorial. You so generous to give your love chord charts to us for free. :)
Even if I didn’t just buy a ukulele yesterday, I enjoy watching and listing to you play it.

Rita Schmidt thanks, headed to Taiwan today, work day will be four hours surfing four hours ukulele and a hour of feeling sorry for myself
I understand. The suggestion "start with something easy" doesn't even register with me.
Don't give up, there's no such thing as talent. There's only patience and practice. Keep on going
You are an EXCELLENT TEACHER, Thx for all you do ❤️

I'm 57 played guitar all my life and now want to play the UKUE so who better to learn from than YOU thanks for posting.
Best uke teacher on TH-cam. Prettier versions of songs than the others but taught in easier and better explained ways. Thank you!
Just stumbled across your page. You rock! I’ve watched thousands of hours of random videos, but everyone wants you to pay to continue. You rock so much! In a couple hours of watching your vids I’m learning so many new skills!
Thank you so much, you inspired me the way you explain how to do it and I'm improving with my ukelele.
Thanks for the tutorial. This was the first music I play with Ukulele.

Great job dissecting a complicated song. I love your calmness!
When you started counting I was like "NO MORE FINGERPICKING!!!!!!"
My sister who was also playing along does to but I love finger picking
Your effort in this is soo underrated here, thanks much!!!

I am so excited to attempt this. Thanks for putting this up, Cynthia!
Great tutorial and learnt it all well, although it was very frustrating how you didn't have a full song play through, so now I'm having to piece every little part of the video together just to make the song flow.
Great tutorial Cynthia! You really know how to explain things in an easy-follow-way. Thanks so much!
Thank you for the G shape advice for the fingerpicking part of the song! :)
I've been practicing this for month still not finished yet, but something bothering me.
On the extra fill #1
A--2--2------0--2----------|
E--3------3-----------2--0-|
C--2--------------------------|
G--0--------------------------|
the two last notes on the E string you said --2--0 but on your video you play --3--0-
So maybe I'm mistaken but I wanted to know :)
Thanks very much for all your video, i'ts a very big inspiration and I learn a lot from you :) !!

This was bugging me too, glad I wasn’t going crazy

Awesome uke
Thank you Cynthia for 💓🤙
Beautiful spalted Uke.

Thank you for this very nice tutorial! It helped for our examination in the ukulele!
Plus good teacher!
And also thank you for the hint on how to download the chord chart for free. Thanks a bunch i didnt cause some dollars .By the way im from the Philippines and im just 10 years old . I hope I will learn ukulele soon as a pro!😇😇😇☺☺😊😊
Your eyes are soo soothing !!
yay Ive been waiting for this! need a new song to learn

Thank you! You are amazing!)
The best teaching
I loved this ukulele tutorial! Can you do one for "While My Guitar Gently Weeps?"
Very nice! Thanks for the tips too!
Thank you for your efforts.
By extra fill 1 en 2 by the G section you say : G 2 3 open 2 en than 2, but you play 3 , in the turtorial there is a 2, but in the chord chart it is 3
This is beautiful
it only took me 13 days but i got it down thanks for the tutorial
thanks! lovely cover
Very cool! Thanks a bunch!
Nothing like a pretty woman with a flower in her hair and a ukulele in her hand 🙃
I love your tutorials so much I'm going to join the Patreon page! Thank you for making lessons accessible and affordable for all!!!
What kind of wood is on the front/top of your ukulele? I have this on the sides of my uke and I've forgotten what wood it is!
you're very good professor with wonderful smile 😜
とても分かりやすいレッスンですね!
almost day 3 im getting there its within my grasp
As soon as you said FINGERPICKING, I totally FREAKED OUT!!!!!! haha lol
put a capo on the 2nd fret and it’ll be in the same key as the original song! ☺️
Reaaaaallllly helpful would have been: playing the whole song through once at the end.
You have the most beautiful ukuleles! How many do you have? How do you decide which one to play for which song?
This song is a challenge but it sounds sooooooooooooooo good
Amazing tutorial! 8 years late to this xD
Thank you! xxx
Cool video, keep up the good work! nice voice too!
Ive been playing guitar for many years... What is it about the Uke that puts a smile on my face?
Thank you far over the Atlantic ocean, let's practice until the sun comes to France !
The tab for extra fill #1 and #2 on G seems to have something wrong. You say 2 but your finger is on three. 😅
Um grande abraço do Brasil pra vc
Thanks teacher 😅
I feel like I have to break all my finger bones just to learn how to pluck lol but I’m willing to learn! ♥️
super..merci
Love the video. What is the black and white picture behind right shoulder?
Thank-you Cynthia for this and all your tutorials. This one's a little more complicated than past tutorials and a welcomed step-up. That's a beautiful uke by the way. Is it mango?
Thanks!
LOVE IT !!!!!
Great instruction! Wish you would play each part full speed after slow picking.
Please do soak up the sun by Sheryl crow
This is hard working but i try ,thank you
