As a self taught player for almost 2 years now who never bothered to learn the proper way to pick this really helped me improve especially with a more advanced song I’m trying to learn so thanks 😊
Got a ukelele Christmas of 2017. Was very pumped to learn to play, but quickly lost hope of that. I could barely play one song, and only knew about 3 chords. I gave up playing my ukelele and didn’t pick it back up until today. I was inspired by a stranger who was fingerpicking on her ukelele to try to play again. I want to say thank you for being a good teacher and making this video. It was very helpful and within 5 minutes I could fully play the fingerpicking you taught! Much love . xx
You made my day!!! You have no idea how much this meant to me to read this. I’m so proud of you for giving the uke another try, and I’m thrilled that this helped you. Keep playing and never give up. I believe in you. I hope to see you I. The comments again.
About a year ago i walked into a guitar store and about 30 minutes later i walked out with a ukulele in my hand. I didn't know how to play, nor did i have any experience with any string instruments. And so i sat down and gave it a try. It's impossible to master any instrument within a couple of days, all musicians know that it takes years HECK even your entire life to master. And trust me, nailing something after hours upon hours of trial and error is one of the best feelings in the world. - The E chord is a bitch (i cheat by playing E7 instead. So i don't have to break my fingers mid song ). - Don't forget to have fun, playing music is not supposed to be a chore. - Wanna sing and play ukulele at the same time? Start practicing this as early as possible. Right now, do it. That's about it. "Hope"fully these tips could be of some assistance to you, or not. Have fun playing and good luck. Hey Katie I follow you here and on a Instagram! A few days after watching this video I came up with a A C E C E A fingerpicking pattern to transform sweet home Chicago into a Mississippi delta blues style! I'm loving the Guitarlele because I can play ukulele style on it and guitar style! I would love to see you do a few Guitarlele videos this year! Uke on! Your Flow is Strong! +Flo Beatrix hi guys, the best results that ive ever had was by using the Arthurs Uke Blog (i found it on google) definately the best plan that I have ever tried.
My mom and grandma used to sing "You Are My Sunshine" to me all the time. As fun as that song is to sing with chords, finger picking feels so much more special. Thank you for sharing your talent.
It definitely helps me, I'm not quite ready to introduce fingerpicking to the littles just yet, LOL. I have three so far on soprano ukulele, and having the usual issue with getting them to practice. However, one of the three is Focused like a laser and IS practicing a LOT. His little sister is one of the three and she isn't making quite the same commitment. But they are all making progress, and having fun in the process. Dealing with two nine y.o.s, and a seven y.o. Thanks for your support, I will tell them that you asked about them.
I got a concert ukulele for Christmas and have practiced strumming cords. I am very slow at changing cords and beginning to feel like I'm never going to "get it". I can't believe how much better my, not great playing, sounds with this picking technique. I want to practice again. l feel like I actually may learn how to play a song one day. You teach at a great pace and I can pause the video to practice without problems. This was most inspiring.
I've been fingerpicking songs for years using just my thumb on my guitar, and ukulele. Then I just came across your video after several months of watching other videos of people picking the way you do, and I've been wishing I could do it. The exercise is easy, but I had to sit back to take a look on how is this going to help me with just any song. Okay, I think I get it. I keep my left hand notes the same, but with the right hand use the correct finger needed for that particular note. Which means middle C and D would be 3rd string thumb. While E to Ab would be the index finger, and A to high G would be the middle finger, or medio. I hope this is right. Thank you for opening a huge doorway for me. P.S. You have an awesome, and relaxing voice.
You are such a good teacher. Like it seems that you are not rushing with you are doing and just doing what you wanted to do, which is to help and teach your viewers.

@@OneMusicSchool Katie, This OS Tenor Uke is more beautiful than the pictures, and not a single fingerprint on it. No scratches, no nothing. The frets will need to be filed slightly to make them smooth and it has dots on the side of the fretboard. I can't tell what brand of strings are on it, but it is set for High G now. I will be changing that as soon as possible. Mitch is happy. :o)
@@sisternaima The good news is, I bought a second Oscar with a bag and accessories and the Tattoo model. I have it set up with Low G stings. The bad news is, now I think I have a Ukulele collecting habit cause I just bought a britone Slotted Head Figured Okoume Ukulele. :o)
Easy to follow and great layout to the page so we can see the notes, what your fingers are doing on the ukulele, and listen to your explanation. I was convinced I would only ever strum, now I think I can work this. Thank you.
