    PLEASE READ:
    I just want to take a moment to update you and clarify my position regarding travel in relation to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Being a UK citizen, I consult the UK Foreign Office for advice on where I am travelling and what I may need to be aware of. At the time of writing, the Foreign Office advises against all non-essential travel abroad. In addition, non-essential travel within the UK is currently not permitted. With this in mind I am currently unable to travel and film content. I am lucky to currently have a large (about 6 months worth) of content already filmed so you can still expect a new video every Friday. I do however want to stress that I travelled in line with the advice of the UK Foreign Office where travelling outwith the UK and in line with UK law when travelling domestically at the time of recording. This advice will likely have changed in the time between recording and publishing. With that, I am hopeful that travel will once again be possible in the near future and I hope to get out and about filming again over the summer.
    Lastly, thank you for your continued support through these strange and difficult times. Stay safe!
    Kind regards,
    Dylan.

      @@DylansTravelReports used to live in Colchester in my mid 20s. I'd love very much to see that route to Liverpool Street Station and, if possible, the London Paddington to Edinburgh Weverly route which I took a long time ago (April, 1989) with my German girlfriend. Since I live in England no more (39 years), it'd be great to retrace the footsteps of my youth. I'd appreciate it very much. Take care, old chap!

    I've been waiting for this one! I'll admit to being surprised the underwater part was only 20 minutes - but now that I think about it, that makes perfect sense. For me, the table seats seem like the way to go even if you have to sit with strangers. More leg room and no chance of Dylan reclining his sit in front of you! not a bad price - I'd pay half of that just to avoid an airport (although I like French airports, generally)

    • @DylansTravelReports
      @DylansTravelReports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    We have travelled on the Eurostar from London to Paris and back twice and to Brussels and back once. All before the start of the pandemic. All three outbound journeys were fast, without any intermediate stops. However, the second return journey from Paris stopped at Ebbsfleet, and the return journey from Brussels stopped at Lille.
    We used Standard Premier. Not only does the interior consist of tables with two well-spaced seats on each side of the table, but the price of the ticket includes a hearty meal with waiter service. An unforgettable experience!

      @@DylansTravelReports No but just I'm thinking. You are really and definitely the best train enthusiast, the one who does the best trip reports on TH-cam. When I think that some people film and dare to take the train for fun reasons in the middle of a Coronavirus crisis, without taking - or very little - appropriate measures, they are unconscious, who risk spreading to the European public a bad image of the good use of basic health rules. I look forward to receiving your products. Take care of yourself.

    I took this train from Paris to London in the fall of 2017. Gare du Nord was going through renovation at the time, it looks like it is all finished. But I liked St. Pancras station better. It was a fantastic trip. If you lived in either cities, you could go for a day trip or the weekend trip. Or lunch in London and dinner in Paris. What a life!

    What I like so much about your Reports is that they're so engaging and have just subtitles and very low background sound. I have a habit of skipping 10s but you have a new thing to say within this time so I can't skip, which makes me so fond of your videos.

    Have used the Eurotunnel a few times, 1 by Eurostar, a few more by the car service. Always been surprised by how short and efficient the trip is, for the car service you spend longer waiting for the train and loading process than you spend going through the actual journey. Great alternative to flying, especially when the pricing is usually quite competitive.

    Hi Dylan, thanks for another professional production. I am a great fan of the Eurostar through tickets, being able to get from London to Antibes (South of France) in a day. I usually visit in March to watch a bike race (not this year) I love the fact that you can travel from Winter in the North to Spring in the South in a single day, watching all of France pass by your window, usually for about £70 each way. I am keen to try the direct London to Avignon service when things return to normal, its a great town. Cheers, Tim.

    Brilliant review Dylan as always, Whist I've been under the channel a few times im still yet to travel on the new stock as my trips so far have on class 373's.
    I find it convenient you should post this today as I've spent the day looking up the "Night Ferry" which also ran between London and Paris from 1936 & 1980, and apparently it was withdrawn due to complaints that the heating didn't work when carriages were loaded on the ferry and rough sleeping occurring during rough seas.
    Its a shame the Night Ferry wasn't still in service when the channel tunnel opened, then it could go direct to Paris under the channel and its problems would have eradicated overnight.
    Also it would have given you another train for your travel reviews.

    I remember travelling on a steam train throughout Europe as a child in the 1950s. I think our speed was about 100Km or about 60MPH. The service was great and sleeping in a clackety-clack track was soothing. I was told not to use the loo at the station as it was open to the tracks. We started out in Morroco and then on to a ferry and deported in Gibraltar and from there we went to Danmark and again on a ferry to Københaven to visit family. Lots of fun. I was about 7 then.

    I did the Eurostar experience a few years ago were I got to hang out at Eurostar for a week and saw how they work as a company. As part of the experience I got the chance to travel to Paris for free I would say the best part is traveling in first class worth every min of it but least was standard class .

    I saw no tables or seats in cafe car. Can you sit and enjoy an over priced snack in the cafe or must you take food and drink back to your seat?

    The first time I took the eurostar from London to Paris in December 2005, the trip took 3 hours 45 minutes. And pretty soon it will take just 2 hours, once upgrades are completed along the whole line.

    I’ve travelled Eurostar a handful of times and the trip that was most comfortable and decent was when I was in Standard Premier, the reason for this is because I’m 6 ft, 2 1/2 inches, probably a bit more and standard class seats are just not great especially on the E320’s (E300’s are slightly better).

    Great video. 300 kph is fast. Do the tracks it travels on go over road crossings to limit potential car accidents? Though not common, I would think it would interfere with the train.

    • @DylansTravelReports
      @DylansTravelReports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! I think the tracks mainly go over and under roads to prevent accidents and reduce delays.

    • @paname514
      @paname514 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course, there are never railway crossings on high-speed lines. It would be too dangerous. There are bridges everwyhere, for the road or the railway to pass above the other.

    • @russellrlf
      @russellrlf 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@paname514 That makes perfect sense. However, since I have never seen a high speed train, or its track system, I attempted to use my psychic powers to answer this question. It was to no avail. So I asked Dylan instead. Sorry if that upset you.
