  • I begin 2023 by taking the Eurostar from London to Paris, showing what the experience is like in Standard Premier Class. It's also my first visit to France's capital city, despite travelling to the country four times!
    After arriving in Paris, I take a sneak peek at the Eiffel Tower, before watching PSG at the Parc des Princes, getting the chance to see Messi play live.

    I'm Jason, a full-time British Travel Vlogger and TH-camr who's been to 60 countries. I've been travelling around the world full-time since 2017.
    I have travel series' from many of the world's best (and least) known destinations. I filmed the first vlogs on my channel in the summer of 2016 after spending a year living in China. A proper solo trip around Eastern Europe followed after graduating from University in the summer of 2017, taking me to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Kosovo. This marked the start of my efforts to turn vlogging into a full-time job.
    After that European trip I explored much of Asia: visiting India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea and Kazakhstan.
    I have also travelled to North Africa and the Middle East fairly extensively over the last five years, filming videos in Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel and Palestine.
    I've travelled to North America just once as a TH-camr, visiting Mexico in 2021. Though I have been to both the USA and Canada, this was as a child on family holidays.
    In 2022, I took my first trip to Sub Saharan Africa, visiting Kenya and Tanzania, before heading to the Middle East, stopping in Dubai and Lebanon. Europe followed, covering both the Greek and Turkish sides of Cyprus, and afterwards going back to Italy for the second time to cover Milan and Sicily. I then visited the Caribbean for the first time, covering the Dominican Republic, before heading to both Brussels and Amsterdam, then covering Taiwan and the Philippines in Asia. I finished off the year with a trip around Morocco.
    I started my travels in 2023 by finally visiting Paris, taking the Eurostar from London.

Used to go there with friends after partying, eating entrecôte at 3AM 😅My favorite pizza is at "Pulcinella" in the 16 arrondissement. The "quartier Latin" is worth visiting as well as the Marais. The train is much more convenient than flying. It takes you from city center to city center both ways, so no 30-minute taxi/tube trip to get into the city. Not getting nickel and dimed on your luggage is nice, compared to RyanAir. The security line is more efficient, and they handle your passport for entry and exit, so once you arrive, you can just head into the city. You have more space to stretch out, walk around, and the experience is much less stressful.

    Nice to see you in France. For me, the most amazing part of the country is Alsace region (Strasbourg, Colmar, Eguisheim, Riquewihr, Kaysersberg). If you go there (it is possible with a train from Paris to Strasbourg, at least), I assure you that you won't be dissapointed as there is simply magical, like in fairy-tale.

    • @thefrenchbullet4246
      @thefrenchbullet4246 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agree! Alsace is beautiful! I'm from Normandy and I can say that it's with visiting too. When tourists ask me where to go in France I usually say that all the edges, or close to the borders are beautiful regions. The center of France is more rural and "empty" (still beautiful ofc). I'm blessed to live in a country where the regions and the culture ( and food ) are so different from where I live.

      @goostrey4210 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thefrenchbullet4246 It can get really touristy, though, in those exquisite little Alsatian villages like Riquevihr.

    • @Ojstra
      @Ojstra ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thefrenchbullet4246 , I have also been in Normandy and really liked Falaises d'Étretat (cliffs), Honfleur, Mont-Saint-Michel, the Bayeux Tapestry, along with all apple culinary and drinks. ;) Rouen as the capital of the region also remembered me a little on Alsatian villages in its old core as it also has some half-timbered houses. So I rate Normandy as my second best region in France. The third for me is Chamonix Alpine High Savoy region (with Aiguille du Midi as the ultimate adventure for a non-climber) and the fourth Provence (especially Arles, Pont du Gard, Nimes from Roman times).

    • @Ojstra
      @Ojstra ปีที่แล้ว

      However, I haven't explored Corsica yet as I believe that it would also be quite interesting. In my childhood, I really liked tracks of Auvergne, Corsica and Normandy in the videogame Need For Speed: Porsche 2000, just as the Alps and Schwarzwald tracks.

    It's funny to see how, after travelling to so many places in the world (sometimes well off the beaten track), you get all excited and starry-eyed seeing the Eiffel Tower, THE tourist cliche if ever there was one! 😅 But I guess Paris does that to you (especially on a first visit)... I was lucky enough to live there for a couple of years, and when I went back last year I started bawling my eyes out while passing by the Louvre on the bus. When my husband asked what was wrong, all I could say was: "I had forgotten how beautiful it is" 😭

    • @JasonBillamTravel
      @JasonBillamTravel  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I couldn’t hold my excitement back, I had to fit it in before heading over to the match. I think it felt even more special given that I’d put off seeing it for so many years.

    I was amazed to read recently that Eurostar is currently obliged to keep 350 seats out of 900 empty. This is because any more would not be able to get through the passport checks without disrupting the next service. This is apparently because of the more complex passport formalities for British citizens travelling to the continent of Europe following Brexit.
