The Glambassador I actually watched it tonight while I was setting my hair (nothing to do with the Gibson roll but it serves as inspiration for another day) :)
Thanks to your video I will be making my hair rat. My local salon store doesnt have a range of colors for my dark auburn hair. I can settle for brown but they dont have it. Mail order maybe. Gibson tuck is perfect for Summer! Robin in NC
Great tips Christine. I have really fine hair but a lot of it so these home made rats (made of rats like your hat video lol!) are what sounds like the best idea. I have nets and even wig clips and my hair casts at a rate of knots! Thank you, these are the things people forget in the mists of time and its really great theres a community of people like yourself who passes these on.
I love your eyebrows. They look exactly how women had them back in the day, but they are also perfectly tuned to your eyes. A lot of people just try to copy eyebrow styles and forget to tune them to their eyes, if that makes sense. So they end up with weird eyebrows that don't seem to belong in their faces, no matter how vintagey they look. I find that how I keep my eyebrows really makes a big difference in how much of a vintage look I have, but the trick to make that work is to adjust your eyebrows to your own eyes. If you don't do that, they end up just looking silly.
Thank you for this. I need to find a variation on style number two that works with my waist length super thick hair. I can get a nice swoop with my fringe (well, part of my fringe!), but then there is so much extra hair to put somewhere!
@@TheGlambassador I'll try that. Something to note - my 2.5" stainless steel amish hair pins (u-shaped) were really great for weaving in and pinning version 1 for me.
Thank you! What a great tutorial. I have never managed to make a Gibson roll work for me! I’m going to try these and see if I can get it. I’ve ordered some wig clips, too. :) I would love to see a chignon tutorial if you have one! That’s another hair style nemesis (I just want to be Lana Turner 😭)!
Glad it was helpful! I hope it works for you too. I'll see about a chignon tutorial, but with my curly hair it doesn't turn out as nice and smooth like Lana's. The first style can be altered into a chignon. If your hair is long enough, after you've pulled it though the first time, start to pull it through again, but don't tuck it all in, just pin the ends into the "hole" you've created and allow the rest of the hair (should look like a pouch) to stay out. If the insertion point is a little messy you can add a nice flower or even a decorative hair comb to hide it. I hope some of that made sense :) But I'll see about doing a tutorial. Thanks!!!
@@TheGlambassador That's extremely helpful! I think that will be a day 5 or 6 hairdo for me to help with smoothness! I tried the gibson tuck today, and it looks great, thank you so much!
@@TheGlambassador I've tried... But ir takes me a lot of time... And I can't get a good result. My hair seems frizzy and I don't get a good definition.
@@alienaumbrae1817 It takes time at first, you'll get faster the more you practice. If you have't seen my wet set tutorial, I recommend you watch it, there is a lot of great info in there especially for curly hair. Keep at it, trust me it will all come together.
Love it I was grossed out bu the idea of using my own hair for a rat but I might give it a go as the synthetic ones seems to push out my Bobby pins either that or the pins are not great 🤷♀️.plus I guess a hair rat is no different to a dreadlock
My hair is thin and I make a very low ponytail using black Poly hair bands that are similar to rubber bands but are not actual rubber bands. And I take my hair rat put it under the low ponytail and wind the ponytail toward the back of my neck. I then spread my hair across the rat tucking the rat under my hair and bobby pinning the sides. And since my hair is thin, I cover it with a hairnet and bobby pin it to help keep the hair from coming loose.
I'm not sure if you're aware or if I saw that wrong but don't open bobby pins! (I learned this the hard way) they don't last as long, cuz I bent mine outta shape and they don't stay put as effectively. Just push them through and use as many as you end up needing.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. I really appreciate them :)
I'm so glad you are enjoying them!

Visiting from your new mix and match video about how to do fronts and backs!
Awesome thank you! I hope it was helpful and you’ve found a few styles that you can add to your arsenal ❤️

Thank you!! Looks perfect for wearing with a hat or for work :)
This is a great hairstyle for hats!
Thank you! I always wondered how to do the smaller Gibson roll.
Happy to help!
Trying this now! Thank you for the tutorial

Can you make it into a pin curl at the side? That would look cute.

Your hair is so beautiful. Mine is curly and that frustrates me a lot when I try to make some vintage style...
I have naturally curly hair too, have you tried doing a wet set? I have a tutorial on my wet set, it might help you.

I was at the end of my tether with the synthetic ones until I bought wig clips. There are 2 different types so it's trial and error but so worth it!
They do make a big difference. I hope now you can use them and create beautiful hairstyles.
This is great, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Such a helpfull video!
Glad you think so!
You mentioned your "favorite combs" but I didn't catch the brand. Where can we find them?
Thanks!
Rhaya Murray they are called Grip Tuth. I’ve found them on Amazon and here on this site. www.goodhairdays.com/subcategory/Sidecombs/Grip-Tuth--Combs

I love your curls. They are natural ?
I do have naturally curly hair, but I always do a wet set using foam rollers to get a more uniform curl.

Where did you find the thin roll with wig clips?
It's just a small synthetic bun rat that I cut in half and then I sewed the wig clips on myself.

I used to love this look! I cut my hair to my bottom of my ears and now I can’t do anything 😢
