Same for typical Polish 2c hair that just floats around your face with mind of it's own:) But it's fun to watch people who can control it. Maybe it's a superpower.

If you look at old dresser sets, you will find a china a rat some day. with a lid that has a hole in the middle. that is for hair combing to be used

Exactly... this is why as a girl with curls all in the 3 range I never really try vintage hair styles, lol. It's ironic that most vintage hairstyles require straight hair to be curled, but don't look right with natural curls, which means if you have naturally textured hair you gotta go the extra mile of blowing it out THEN curling it THEN styling it. It's kind of depressing

Would love to see some 30s content, I feel like the 20s gets so much attention since it's the jazz age and the 40s also does because of WWII and the swing era. But ppl don't really get the 30s... for example how did the style transition from no waist to small waist. The hairstyles too!

But then the depression happened, and hitler used that, so the 30s was just straight up hitler. (So technically the Weimar Republic ended in 1933. It still doesn't work for me all the time, but it works more often than it used to.

Wow...I haven't thought about anyone "setting" their hair in ages! My great-grandmother used to set her short hair in a ton of pin curls with Dippity Do on all of them. She'd wrap a do-rag around it & in the morning pull it all out & somehow floof it up & make it look good. I was always amazed how she did it & how so many Shirley Temple-like ringlets turned into a good looking hairdo.
This video (especially the early parts) reminded me of my grandmother, who was at her fashion peak in the 40s and early 50s. These vaguely resemble some of her earlier photos, but she eventually switched to permanents. (which I remembered oddly when you said "too lazy to set") This video resonates with me because through her, I always associated the 40s with those harsh permanents that not only had an awful scent (that could also seep into wallpaper, permanently affecting a room's atmosphere), but could actually result in *hair loss* if applied improperly. I was turned off from that decade's realities due to those factors. Seeing such elegant hairstyles done with no pre-prep or even chemicals is kind of literally a breath of fresh air.

I really like to use a bit of dry shampoo, it somehow makes the hair more thick and easier to backcomb. :)
