This car is in Virginia now getting lots of love that it deserves. I’m actually fixing all the issues and daily driving now. So far rear springs to get ride height back correct, shocks, tires, correct center caps and lug nuts, plugs, wires, new dual exhaust system, detail motor, deep clean top and interior, removing yellow overspray. Have removed a/c compressor to replace and starting on convertible top hydraulic leak hopefully tomorrow. It’s a great car. Wish I could post a picture to show progress. Glad you found this Chris.

I think that's a $10k car all day long. Unmolested LeMans that aren't rust buckets are really tough to find. Especially with the convertible top. You made a few bucks and somebody got a good base to start with for a fair price.

    • @trickyricky12147
      @trickyricky12147 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yup, $10K all day long. You gotta consider including the tools used in price when resurrecting rigs like these, even if you didn't do too much. $10K would've been fair since most of the work was done... somewhat.

    • @trickyricky12147

The car had the optional Endura nose…..also the rear quarter top area that you pointed out and said the crease had bondo over it is wrong only the hard top cars have the crease all the GM A body convertibles were leaded smooth there !

Chris you made a good choice buying it , you helped Robert too by not low balling him. You made a fair deal selling it, which in turn made 2 people happy. On the plus side you made a quick profit not bad at all. Gus is always one of the highlights of the videos. Take care brother. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Brings back another memory in my life, i married in 1975 and my wife and I drove off in a "just married" shoe polished 1971 Pontiac GTO.
Car has been long gone, but wife and i are still together after all these years!

Somebody had their priorities wrong when they ordered that Pontiac. Power steering, air con, convertible, rally wheels and auto, but two barrel carb, single exhaust and unassisted drum brakes? Definitely built for show and not go or stop either for that matter. I still shake my head at the brakes. Good deal and a good sale, the buyer knew what he was buying as much as you did and I think offered you a fair price. You know what they say about convertibles, as the top goes down, the price goes up and they are not making anymore of those Pontiacs. Cheers mate, Stuart 🇦🇺

    • @tomcat630

Nice flip Chris! It looks like there's so much content that we didn't get to see but the property is really starting to look great! I've never seen an organized shop with so much stuff in it, it's nuts. I laughed when you tried to remember where your spark plugs were. With this car being one of the sexiest body styles made with the vert and all, she deserves a proper "body off" resto with a good dipping of her frame. That's just a good and proper start to have such an AWESOME car like this...

Nice video and congrats on the quick turn around! I have a 72 Grand Prix, 3rd owner, with only 83K miles. It was my Dads car since 1974. He got it from his friend who got drunk and ran over a fire hydrant. Me and my Dad fixed the car for him, but he couldn't come up with the money to pay the repair bill so Dad bought it. Congrats on him on getting one like this that got your knowledge and elbow grease on it, making it road worthy!

Excellent video Chris :) also give Lol back in 2010 I did Restoration job to 1960 Pontiac Le Mans 2 door with Convertible top , shock me was Unibody type , body went as Cherry Red , with Black Convertible top updated, original motor in was V8 but took out put 1980 Chevrolet Chevette 4 cylinder motor 2 barrel , had Power Steering, Brakes too with disk brakes on front updated from drums , has small gear shifter ever seen with no park position plus 2 speed Automatic transmission , updated the axle ratio to 377 , no air condition , guy owns has updated Am/ Fm radio 1970's to from factory am , 5 seater and wild to start up engine and park too ! When starting engine put key ignition switch to on tap gas pedal 2 times , then make sure emergency brake handle were pedal be on touch brake pedal and make sure N (Netural) gear then turn key ignition switch to starter mode then up motor let come down of high idle Lol ! Then low idle push brake pedal shift R or D or L2 L1 gear , then take emergency handle off and drive on and when get to parking lot put Netural, Emergency Handle on and Brake pedal on lightly put R or D gear shut down motor on key switch let off brake pedal to ! I never understand why but ask owner of car he said was Security System used back then and was retired man form working! But Convertible top had be updated and Hydraulic power cylinder too was leaking bad!

She sure looked like a runner to me, after I saw the engine compartment I figured it might be a "throw a battery in" kinda thing and it pretty much was. Good on you Chris.
Valuing cars is always dicey. My dad is a lot like you, independent mechanic in central Oregon, works mostly on BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Now getting close to retirement he likes buying fixer uppers and I help him with the online stuff, finding, buying and selling. So I know how weird valuing cars can be.
Always good to see the wrecker doing good, loved the wrecker series. Love the new garage, exactly the setup you deserve.
Keep it up Chris, I will keep watching.

Chris, You did very very well on the flip. The time and cost of all the body work, rust and Mechanical for dependability is more than it's worth. Keep up the amazing videos 👍 I love watching you revive these old forgotten vehicles. I still have my 1979 Dodge Magnum XE GT I bought brand new in 1979 and still with the original paint. Now 44 years old. It's Always been kept in the garage and still looks like show room condition with 25,000 miles on it. It's hard to watch all of these amazing cars succumb to the elements.

My dad had a 1970 GTO convertible that looked very similar to this car. I'd love to know where it is today. He daily drove it to work at the time and it was kept in practically pristine condition when he sold it around 1981. I loved this video and am so happy to see this car was saved and moved on to another appreciative owner who will most likely bring it back to it's full potential. Dad would've loved this video every bit as much as I do.

Good buy and re-sale. That Lemans was special ordered as it has the endura front bumper and full console. Nice car! I’ve been a fan of the ‘70-72 Poncho since I bought a 70GTO in 1985. I’ve owned almost a dozen since then. This one had all the LeMans Sport appearance options and none of the performance stuff. Nearly every convertible I’ve seen had A/C. Power steering and manual/front drum brakes was an odd order but jives with the manual windows I think. Ya did good on this one! A convertible A body GM anything from those years have been bringing some good money for a couple of decades now. I had a ‘70 LeMans Sport that I drove from Daytona Fl, to Cleveland OH and From the Beach in S. Carolina to Pismo in Ca. (Not all in one trip but over a few years) The GTO did 7.90’s on a local 1/8 mile drag strip and had working A/C! (455/Turbo 400). Nice driving, comfortable cars with great performance and good looks too! You would have enjoyed owning and driving that one even without the performance stuff.

I kept telling my dad I wanted it.One day when I was 17 and coming home from church I stopped and started talking to her.I offered her $5stacks at the time and she said yes.She only wanted $3500 for it.I told her it was worth more and as soon as I uncover it they'll come like moths to a flame, and they did.The car was pristine with 25,000 miles on it.Just the right front fender was faded from the tarp always blowing in the wind.We got that car running after sitting for so long and I remember my pops leaving out of there sideways in a car that sat for years lol..We cleaned everything, replaced gaskets and whatever else needed to be done.I also had a 71'Chevy Longbed that I had lowered and hot 283 in it that I drove from the time we bought it as a junk truck to being entered in show's in the daily driver class which I won many awards.I drove the Goat all the time I loved having my favorite car ever and it was mine from my money working the farms and my car detailing business.Me and dad got into it and I packed up and caught ride to BMore where I was from for the summer.I decided to stay with my mom.So I left my truck and car at dads till i had work to bring them here. No one told me but my father sold both of them together for $60 grand and bought a beach house at Myrtle Beach with our my knowing.I was devastated and I didn't talk to my father for almost 12yrs cause he signed my name on my titles and sold my vehicles I worked so hard for and saved everything I made to have them.Since I can't afford a real GTO anymore I always keep my eyes out for a Leman's or Tempest to get and Clone that old Judge for my sanity.Hell they're expensive as hell also.So one of these days I'm gonna find me a 68-69 And Clone it up.There just something about that Carousel Red,a modern 6speed and a Super Charged 6ltr LS in it to be my daily driver in my 50's now.I'll keep a truck and drive the heck outta my modernized Judge clone LoudLove

Sweet ride. Love the style of that era. Drum brakes are a little scary. All and all you did well. Amazing what those old cars are demanding. Enjoy your day with your sweetie and Gus.

Very sad to see that guy have to let go his pride and joy. Brings a tear to my eye knowing that might be me one day getting rid of a car thats special to me. He wasnt just getting rid of a car but rather loosing one of his closest connections to all the great memories he had. That could have been the car he was married in, brought his kids home from the hospital in, took his kids to school in, etc. you just never know. Glad to see it will go on to a new home and hopefully get lots of love and help connect someone else to there great past memories. Great job getting it going. Love this channel!

Nice to see a TH-cam page from my old stomping grounds. I live on Philadelphia Ave for over 10 years. Grew up in North Park. Pennsbury grad. Great videos.

thats pretty amazing story for that car. love the vids, and putting these classic vehicles back on the road, or water. I think your channel is the best that do these style of vids, its also cool to see a lot of the channels being friends with each other, and not agents each other. the beanies look pretty cool, love the fold over style better then the straight beanies. definitely have to look into them.

Chris and Jen are easily 2 of the nicest people on YT, I've lost count of how many times Chris has pulled over to help someone obviously struggling on the side of the road. So I'm a little surprised to see some of those who profess to enjoying their content piling on the little old lady who asked a perfectly reasonable question of a stranger taking photo's of a car she obviously knew didn't belong to him, at least before he told her he'd just bought it, at which point she took him at his word, no harm, no foul.
To me she behaved like a concerned citizen watching out for a neighbour is all, something we could all do with a little more of IMHO, and so what if her car is a mess, what's it to you, it's not your car.
Has the USA fallen so far in grace that all you keyboard hard men can't spare 5 minutes to show some courtesy to a little old lady?

Agreed. My neighbors barely talk to one another, much less keep an eye out for suspicious activity. The lady reminds me of neighbors I once had in Ohio back in the day.

There's always a Pontiac person out there that will pay what they want to have that particular car. Really it's that way with whatever make and model. If a person wants it, condition applied, they'll pay it to have it. You should have more subs. Great chanel Chris and Jen

I ran wrecker for a decade and can tell you that you want that wheel sitting further down in your L-arms, Extending your L-arms out would have gotten your lasso strap much closer to the ideal Y configuration as well.

The front end on that thing is outrageous from a conservative Australian manufacturing perspective. It would be nice to know what drugs the body designers were on back then in the early 70's 'Battle Star Galactica'? ... the huge Tran-Am front rad grill thing, a scoop on both the top and bottom ... and we need 3 lights on each side! A 350 with one pipe so freaking awesome! You might have let that one slip through your fingers Chris 🥲
