Great deal for sure! Twelve books for $20! Well done. You have picked some terrific books and quite a diverse selection.I've read the Sarah Waters, the first Allende book (House of Spirits) but not yet Violeta (want to read that one!), Virginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse (very strange cover on the edition that you just bought!), and Agatha Christie's Murder of Roger...Great thrift book haul! Enjoy...

Thanks Pat! That’s great to hear! I find that thrifted books can sometimes look a little lack luster, so it’s not always the first I pick up to actually read, but I’m actually excited about most of these! Yes the Woolf cover looks nice, but no lighthouse in sight, looks nothing like others I’ve seen. Hopefully the story is the same 😄 Any favorite among these that you would suggest I read sooner?

I haven’t read The Psying Guests, but the other books I have read by her are excellent. Looks like you got some good deals! 💛

That sounds promising! Yes, I'm very pleased! Especially to try out some new authors (...new to me) and see how I like them. 😊

I know, I love finding gems like this for cheap! I would have prefered to find more of them in English, but it'll have to do, the stories are the same. Yes, it's beautiful! And I did read the synopsis for it, it seems like an epic tale. Looking forward to that! Thanks for being here Chelsea! 😊🌸

@@ellenmadebookclub for sure!! I haven’t read a lot of translated books but I’m sure the experience isn’t too different, so hopefully that will be the case with these. And you’re so welcome, I love getting to know you through your videos! Oh and your bow is so cute 💜

Whaat this is so awesome! I feel like book thrifting is part skill part luck.. and you have both! 😄🤍
I love your point about reading books in their original language. Have you read Helene Tursten's Elderly Lady books? They are super short and so much fun but I've wondered if I missed out anything reading the English version translated from the original Swedish. Sometimes other languages have words to describe things that are not easily translated. So I definitely get what you mean!

Haha thanks! I definitely had luck on my side this time, I love it when you're charged less than it says on the tag! Except for the internal dialogue of "should I say something? is this a test? am I stealing? I'll just pretend I didn't notice - ok thank you!" I haven't read the Elderly Lady, I didn't even know it was Swedish! But they're available on audiobook from my library so just added that!
And yes, absolutely. I'm also allergic to the literal translations, like translating an expression word for word and then it turns into a completely different thing! Like "off the top of my head" means nothing in Swedish (word for word), we would say "on straight arm" which would sound ridiculous in English 😂 And people are so Americanized here that sometimes they just talk like that, but I can't stand it in books. I'm way too senstive for such atrocities! 💜
