- This week, Hannah Morris and Nathan Betts tackle the absurd Red Bull Dual Ascent - a 220 metre dam in Switzerland, and the longest artificial climbing route in the world.
Our Red Bull Dual Ascent challenge was made possible by our collaboration with Mammut.

With no experience of multi-pitch climbing, Hannah Morris - known best for indoor bouldering - sets out to successfully climb a 100 meter climbing route on the side of the Verzasca Dam in Ticino, Swizterland.
The route - set as part of the Red Bull Dual Ascent event - is three pitches long, and completely surreal. It is a man-made route with artificial climbing holds bolted on the side on a sheer concrete face, a daunting route, even for the most experienced pro climbers, set in the wild and beautiful Ticino valley.
Follow as Hannah and Nathan learn how to sport climb, embrace their fears, and try to scale the iconic Red Bull route.

Hannah, you are one of the best ambassadors for climbing. I love how open you are about your inner feelings and your process through them. You make me feel like maybe I can do more than I think I can. So inspiring.
Thank you so so much - I really appreciate that :)
Hannah, your growth as a climber and a person in the last 12 months makes you 12 foot tall in my eyes. You're rocking it, believe in yourself.
Thank you so so much! That really means a lot to me ☺️
Toby from Storror poking his head in at the top. Well done Hannah. Next step: Hannah Morris Big wall.
Wild adventure! Also: casual Storror crew in the background oÔ
Awesome video Hannah and Nathan! Great job pushing the mental limits - the only thing scarier than climbing the dam was that time Nathan absolutely obliterated me in chess - I'm still recovering
or being kicked off from dancing on the tables by the bouncer so that the professionals could take the stage (cue outrage)
@@NathanBetts I was WAY better of a dancer than them!
When I play chess, I turn on what I call the "don't lose" mindset. I'm currently the best chess player in the world.
Thank you Noah. It was great to meet you and spend some time with you and Spencer. Until next time 🎉
THIS IS ROCK CLIMBING. The fear facing something new and uncomfortable, the preparation and safety to overcome it, and the anticipation and excitement leading up to the climb. Got goosebumps the whole video. I loved Nathan's take "I realized how much I wanted to do it but how uncomfortable it would be". Thats LITERALLY how everyone feels climbing and learning a new technique at the gym, you guys just took it to the next level. Fookin' awesome !
The production value on the videos lately have been off the charts! I love these videos!
Glad you like them! It's really appreciated :)
WHAT??? I totally did not expect to see this video drop. You totally did it! Awesome! You not only controlled your fear but you owned that wall. Well done!
It was a surprise for us too - thank you, really pleased we achieved it.
HMB fans: Hannah, do some sport climbing content!
Hannah: Hold my beer
More to come hopefully :)
Love the video and how honest you both were with facing your fears!! Really made the dam so much more magnificent. Also had a double take when you topped the last pitch and lo and behold-was that Toby Segar??? A wild crossover of my favourite channels if so, lovely
Thank you! Yep aha, there were a lovely bunch of TH-cam people at the event.
Yes! I saw Toby near the end as well.
Love the cinematic documentary feel to this video! Thank you so much Hannah for sharing your journey on climbing this dam- really enjoyed watching you and Nathan trying your hardest :) 😀
Glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for your continued support in the comments :)
YES! I've been waiting with fingers crossed for this video ever since I saw your instagram stories teaser. Really lovely video. Thanks for sharing!
really digging these more narrative adventure-doc style pieces. i hope you two continue to get opportunities to make this style of thing from time to time. your "standard" style vids are really relatable to what i do week-in week-out and seeing you in this other context is really cool/motivating.
Thank you! Hopefully, we’ll have more to come over the year ahead, we’re lucky to have some brand support - which is essential for making these kind of trips and videos.
Randomly bumping into Toby Segar like no big deal 🙂
What a grand adventure - huge kudos Hannah and Nathan!
Soooo incredibly vulnerable and relatable and what an achievement you guys!!!
Been waiting for this video since I saw the announcement of y'all doing it on Instagram! Absolute banger, and so excited to watch. Seeing the reality of someone I look up to as a climber (having been watching your climbing videos for so long now) being nervous before a big climb like this is both humbling and inspiring. It shows how absolutely down to earth and real you are with this channel, and is a huge reason why I absolutely love watching your videos. The fear of heights is such a mental battle and one I've struggled a lot with since taking a nasty ground fall, but seeing this video has made me want to push myself and get back into leading. So, to end, I just want to say thank you to both you, Hannah, and Nathan for making this video and proving that pushing beyond those mental boundaries can be such an enriching experience, and definitely has inspired me to push myself more on the ropes!
Thank you so so much - we both really appreciate the kind words and are really psyched you liked the video. :)
What a fantastic video! Great to see you all overcoming your fears and enjoying the rewards fodoing so. Love the documentary style ,seeing the build-up to your success. Well done to you both!
Awesome! When you posted your message about how the viewers would feel about doing this a few weeks back I didn't know there was a non pro route and I was like "whaaat that looks soo insanely hard!" but now I so wish I could have had the opportunity to do that! Congratz!
I was eagerly waiting for this video for so long and I have to say I’m so happy about how it turned out! Your guys’ adventure and willpower is super inspiring 😁. Keep up the great work!
Yay! Thank you! Really glad you enjoyed it :)
Nice job! Loved seeing your whole journey for this climb. Production style was beautiful and the climbing looked like fun
It was! Thanks very much for watching - glad you liked it :)
What an incredible milestone for both of you!!
I really enjoyed this video. My favourite theme running through your videos is Hannah’s mental development. Watching you take on challenges and grow in confidence has been really inspiring.
Also with recognising is that your hard work has put you in some esteemed company, and gathering the support of BIG brands.
Thanks friend, appreciate it :)
This is so wonderful. Congrats Hannah and Nathan! I feel so inspired to conquer my own fear of heights now, it really is just learning to do things anyway even when you're fucking terrified...
Thanks very much - glad it could provide some inspiration. I find lead really scary, but it's really satisfying when you make progress with something that feels really out of your comfort zone. You've got it! :)
Wow! This video is quite different from your normal content. It was well done and entertaining. I could relate to the nervousness about such a new challenge. Great job all around!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video, you told me you had a multi-pitch video coming a few weeks ago, and it was worth the wait :) I'm super jealous that you got to do this, it looks like such a fun climb.
It was a really fun experience. Very grateful to have been able to do it and learn a new skill in the process. Thanks for watching! ☺️
Wow!!! Such a cool video and what an amazing opportunity. Keep up the amazing work, Hannah
Thank you so much!!
I’m super jealous but super happy for you both!! How absolutely kickass!!
Thanks so much!!
Well done guys. Thank you for sharing your journey. Amazing!
Thanks so much 😀🙌
Congratulations to both you and Nathan on a fantastic send, and all the hard work put into it! Loved this video :)!
Thanks so much!! Really glad you liked the video :)
Congrats. Really impressed with the way the both of you controlled anxiety and conquered your fear.
Congrats on beating the fear. I always feel that your fear level hinders you more than your ability level, so when you beat the fear that is such a huge step, well done and Happy Christmas.
Happy Christmas to you too!
I love that you started at horseshoe! I did my first ever outdoor lead there (with only 5 quick draws, having to lower off to collect the bottom ones, then reclimb to a new high point) and the following year met my wife-to-be there!
I swear Horseshoe was scarier than the Dam, I’m not a limestone fan!
Wow! Been a long time subscriber Hannah, to see you come from the early days to this achievement is really impressive. For someone that generally does bouldering only this is so different and out of comfort zone! 🎉
Thank you, it certainly felt a long way from home 😬
Loved this film! Good job, Hannah & Nathan :)
Thanks so much! We really appreciate it ☺️
Congratulations on this achievement! I've been following your page since 2021 (had wisdom teeth surgery so I spent time watching climbing vids instead). It has been amazing seeing you and the channel grow! I find your vlogs relatable, which always made it enjoyable to watch! More power 2024!
Thank you very much! I really appreciate your kind words and I’m really glad to hear you like the videos. Hopefully many more to come in 2024 ☺️
Kickass video! Props on your lead pitch!
Thanks very much :D
This is such a dream video as a longtime fan of your channel! I’ve been watching other folks’ ascents of this, and zero bias but this is my fav documentation of it. Thx Hannah & team for the inspiring content you create. Climb on!
Thank you, very kind praise!
Wow, thank you! Really glad you liked the video 🤗
So proud of you both for conquering your fears. Well done!!!
What a great achievement, getting over your fears and climbing this amazing multipitch route.
Such a great climbing year you two had, hope you reach the 100K still before christmas, you deserve it!
Thank you. We're crossing our fingers, it'll be an amazing Christmas present :)
You made the 100K, just to late to be a christmas present, but what a great way to end the year, congratulations!@@hannahmorrisbouldering
Amazing doc video! Really enjoyed every bit! Must had been amazing to climb on that wall, so jealous!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was so impressive! Literally facing your fears head on. This is really inspiring! I am also one of those people who loves rock climbing but gets super scared when I’m way high up on the wall. I’m just working on extending my threshold so I can finally top out a lead route at my gym
Thank you so much!
You can do this! Small steps and continuous exposure will get you there. I had a criplying fear of heights (and that's also the reason why I started climbing). But when taking just tiny steps you will get them. Take the same rout. Go to the level you like "meh this is enoug" and them come down. Go to that same place and do 1 or 2 moves higher. Keep doing that and you will reach the top! And nothing beats that feeling.
I guess that's what the word 'banger' is for ;) You definitively created a great memory for you and Nathan. Well done✌️
So awesome!! Great job both 😍
Thank you!! 😁
This was amazing to watch. And you are so close to 100k subs. Have a great Christmas.
Thank you! Hope you had a great holidays :)
Incredible!! This is so awesome! Just watching this made me super nervous
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching :)
Hell yeah, this is great and all but still not as cool as Nathans moves on the dance floor later that evening ❤😆
How could it ever compete?! 🕺🪩 Thanks guys, see you sooooon 💌
Nice to have you guys back in Switzerland. Hope you enjoyed again :-) I initially thought you gonna climb the competition route, that would have been hard, but this one looks also quite nice. I actually started climbing in Ticino in Ponte Brolla, which is also very stunning. You ned to try if you are ever in that Region again.
We love it. We stayed to boulder in Brione too, wonderful place.
Amazing! Great editing as always too!
Thanks so much!
Congrats on 100k! You've worked so hard for it
Thanks so much! We’re really happy to reach the 100k milestone 🥹🎊
So well done! You both absolutely cruised it too
Thanks so much!
Really looking forward to this one!
Really hope you like it ✌️
Loved the video! So interesting to see. I personally find single and multipitching so much less scarry than bouldering. Too me a bit to get used to the hight but now I'm so comfortable with the rope. It's really interesting to see everyone own experiences with them and who find what scarry and how different people deel with their fear.
Excellent story telling and video keep up some real climbing content 🥰🤩🙏 mixed with the bouldering. Really want to do this 😳💪💪💪😂😂
It was such a cool experience to have, and so much fun to get to tell the story! 😀
Fantastic video, you were both amazing. Saying YES in life is one of the best traits to have, you both have it in buckets. Well done and I hope you got to spend some time relaxing afterwards.
Appreciate that. We've made some great memories from saying yes - very much looking forward to more fun adventures in 2024. :)
Holy guacamole, Hannah! And Nathan too, of course. What a cool adventure you got sent on there! Congratz on conquering the tallest wall and everything that got conquered along the way!
Ty! We were very stoked, we'll remember it for a long time :)
Great job you two that’s such an awesome climb 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you 🤗
Such a cool experience! And great to see Sophie
It was such a fun time :)
barely in and this is a masterpiece already, much love
Thanks so much, really appreciate it! 🙌
wow, this got me surprisingly emotional and excited for going out and climb new adventures :) thank you so much hannah
Really glad you liked it :)
Amazing video, loved seeing the human side of doing something so insane
This was awesome!!
Oh wow, just watching the video freaks me out. But in a good way? Like it reminds me of the Owen Wilson line from Armageddon, "90 percent excited, ten percent scared. Or maybe 90 percent scared ten percent excited..." :)
Toby!
I'm really loving this cinematic style!
Really glad. It’s been fun to experiment with different styles 🥹
Damn (get it 😂) this is a masterpiece of storytelling. Amazing jobs Hannah and Nathan 🎉
Cheers matey!
nice work !!!
Thank you!
Awesome you two...well done.
Glad you enjoyed it
🤩 wow good job guys
Well done!
Time for the wideboyz colab
aside of the achievement, the video editing / storytelling is 👌👌
also it's the first dam climbing video I see that I can feel how high you are on the wall at all times.
Thanks a ton! Glad you liked the video :)
Honestly, this is your best episode, ever. 🎉
Thank you, very kind words :)
Random Cameo of Bob! So very jealous. Nice work Hannah / Nathan.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was so cool!!
Glad you liked it ☺️
Amazing climb, you're an amazing inspiration to go out and do one's best every day.
Was that Toby Segar from STORROR at the very end there at the top?
Thanks very much, appreciate it. Toby and his brother also climbed the route ☺️
I literally saw a video of this french youtuber who climbed the same dam with 2 hours of bouldering experience the day before.. he lied on the form and he managed to get to the top..I think it was 160 meters though, but he started from a ladder... so kuddos to you even with 2 years of preparing yourself!
Hannah climbing on a rope?! Heck yes. So psyched for you. I hate how much easier it is to film boudering, resulting in a ton of bouldering content on TH-cam and elsewhere, and a relative paucity of sport and trad content. Great video!
I really enjoy ropes when I get the chance, even though I'm really scared of them haha :)
"I'm not very good at relaxing"
Same, Hannah 😂
Hahaha, truth :)
I would feel so nervous about taking on that dam! Way to feel brave!! Also I did a day climbing with Paul from Peak Adventures, he's great! You couldn't of had a better coach!
He really was great! We really enjoyed learning the skills with him, and climbing the dam was such an amazing experience 🥳
Whats the jacket the Nathan is wearing, the beige one? It looks really nice. Great video as always, always stepping up from the last one
I think it’s the Madris Light - it’s really nice.
So proud, I remember seeing you be so nervous to lead climb
Thanks so much!
I'm terrified just watching this.
Looks cool and terrifying. Can you tell the cotations of the routes?
OMG! You are incredible!!! :)
Thank you! 😊
Your Storytelling, Production and Editing skills has really gone up! Keep up the awesome work and taking us on this journey with you!
P.S. - almost to 100k! Yay!
Thank you! We're in the final countdown over Christmas 😁
Toby Segar lurking at the top lol
Wow what a psychological and mental achievement! What was the climbing grade like?
Thank you so much! It was a really amazing experience - the grade was probably around 6A - it was a warm up route and felt quite possible for two people who only boulder! I’d love to go back next year and train for a harder route, climbing wise. ☺️
Hi Hannah, what is the app you and Nathan are using at the 4:30 mark in the video?
Hey! It’s a Coros. I think Hannah wears the Vertix, which is excellent for all terrains. It has a neat sport climbing activity that automatically senses your routes climbed when you train, we’ve been trying them the last few months.
Wow that was amazing! I wish i would get an invitation too!! Redbull if you're reading this 😬
They've really been pumping up the Dual Ascent this year. Anyway, Yosemite trip next?
That would be AMAZING :)
@@hannahmorrisbouldering I might even be underselling it, but there's nothing like it in the world. You might want to do a bit of crack climbing first though.
Oof incredible! That looks so scary
It was such a great experience to have :)
Holy crap, 2 minute ago 🤯 Never been this early
Haha hope you liked the video ☺️
That's awesome you had the opportunity?!?!?
Dreamlike experience! Do you think that multipitch climbing is something that you would grow more interest in the future, Hannah?
Yes definitely! I’d love to do some multi pitch adventures abroad ✨✨
Who else was subscribed to HMB last time Sophie made an appearance in a video? 😏
Not Hannah wearing a Rugne shirt again !!!
We’re working with them this year.
What is the mammut tan soft shell style is he wearing?
I believe it’s the Madris Light (but, I’ll double check the label later)
I do believe you are correct, I don't think they make it in that color anymore. I really like it lol
Wait what the heck Toby Segar was there????
Well dam.
Were you there when Tom and Emil did their climb? @boulderingbobats
Yessss, they smashed it 🎊
