Pretty sure TPC's own species clause is the reason Game Freak went to Convergent Evolution instead of Regional Forms
As we learned in a Jeopardy recently, regionals are real-life divergent evolution, where one species develops different traits in an isolated place, while the gen 9 lookalike mons are just called the real-life concept where different species develop similar features for similar needs, convergent evolution.
