The other danger of sugar is the effect on the brain. Once I stopped the sugar my forgetful brain went back to remembering just about everything. It was amazing. I though I had early signs of dementia. What a relief. Thank you Dr. Berg!

No way! I've been feeling as if my brain has failed me multiple times lately & I'm only 17 so it would be too early for dimensia or something! Who knew that it was maybe my nutrition..I will start cutting sugar out more. I'm actually underweight but would like to reap the many health benefits to not taking in sugar in my body!! :)

I've been on sugar 52 years. Off for 6 weeks down 27lbs. I don't think I'll ever go back. Amazing how much obuse the human body handles.

I eat less sugar, less craving for sugar, hence i eat even less sugar. What a wonderful cycle. Now i dread sugar.

@@ToriRamsey Doing keto pretty much eliminated cravings for me. I use erythrite+stevia as sugar replacement. Just watch out for dextrose to avoid problems with insulin.

Keto should not be your long-term goal, as the healthiest diets according to research are the Mediterranean diet and the DASH diet which both contain whole grains and many fruits which you cannot consume on the Keto diet. If your body is not handling whole grains well it could be you are not eating the right ones, you are deficient in some of the B-vitamins which help metabolism of carbohydrates, or you are mineral deficient in 1 of a few different minerals that control your blood sugar. You might want to watch my video called Craving Sweets Like Me This Could Be the Reason.
I avoid anything with high fructose corn syrup and I have cut out all soda. I have pretty much eliminated white refined sugar from my diet and I have not touched a drop of alcohol since January 1, 2000.
Hagop D yup, let's just not eat anything since it seems like everything has something that's detrimental to the body. This is why I started eating less and started fasting regularly now. Don't trust any food anymore. Call it paranoia or whatever you want but I've already felt the effects of it and I feel much healthier.

@@Itstwin check Dr Berg videos on sugar. He goes in details on why is sugar so bad for one's health and energy levels. If one is hungry for sugar or sweet, it only means one is lacking nutrients like electrolytes and /or healthy fats. So have enough of those and you won't worry about sugar anymore.

I'm 40+ and I still fight daily with my parents 70+ who both have cancer to STOP trying to give sweets and treats to my kids (3 - 6 yo). I guess this "Marketing" is more powerful than we thought!
Alfamoto8 my mom had lung cancer. She still eats sweets, cookies, cakes. Can't tell her. May as well talk to the wall.
It's called brainwashed and I can personally relate.
I'm fighting sugar cravings right now and had had many family and loved ones with cancer and diabetes who passed away and could never stop eating sugar.
It's terrible to see loved ones suffering and becoming addicts and victims of sugar.

See mam....the sugar cravings is not their fault...if we take high fibre foods like millets body gradually demands less sugar..in South India we have millet revolution now...try American millet and Italian millet in the place of wheat and rice....sugar took inside creates more craving and u can't stop it....hit it with fibre and it stops to ask
Laid off the sugar for nearly two weeks and my pants are already getting loose. When I have a sweet tooth, I eat fresh fruit. I raised my awareness and counter my cravings with natural foods and water. Crabby for only a day or two and now I am focused like never before.
I was at the market yesterday and I stared at this cheesecake for like 5 minutes and I had to fight with every fiber of my being not to buy it. The sugar was screaming at me more than any drug I’ve ever tried. It is like crack!
Electrolytes, enough electrolytes is the way out most times. My favorite is dr berg's.

It would be good to check how much is added sugar. 58 is for the entire bottle, which is not one serving. Breast milk naturally contains a lot of sugar as well, and that’s what we were designed to grow on. I’m not vouching for sugar at all, but it’s good to think about the details.
It is or should be made criminal. This is not allowed everywhere on this planet and really would be criminal.
There is no link between sugar intake and hyperactivity. In fact, sugar is calming and lowers stress.
ChubbyCheeksNlilFeets Nursery jeez. I breast fed my little one for a year and he slept through the night from the day I brought him home from the hospital. I’m wondering if that’s why. My niece was formula fed and had trouble sleeping. I mostly did it to save money 😅
Lord TouchMe it probably is added sugar, it is formula after all, and breast milk wouldn't have added sugar unless the woman ate a lot if added sugar right? Isn't breast milk determined by the mothers diet? If the mother doesn't eat candies and all that, then I doubt it'd be the same thing.

Cheers for this, I've been looking for "simple diabetic menu plan" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Nanadelyn Nenogan Magic - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my mate got excellent results with it.
That one statement you made saying "There are no nutrients in sugar to turn off the brains hunger" sent shock waves into me. That was the answer which made me understand why my body always felt like it wanted more. I will keep this video as a favourite. My background. is I've recently lost two stone through intermittent fasting. Had people in my life who could not get through to me about my bad eating habits. Some people dont like intermittent fasting but its made me aware I've had addictions as each spell of fasting broke one more addiction in my eating, where I previously thought they were just normal eating habits, and it was just because of who I am. @buck ewer Glucose is not sugar. And sugar is not bad, refined sugar is the problem.
That is medically inaccurate. Simple sugars, cause insulin to spike and leptin to be released. A small amount of leptin is released only because simple sugars are absorbed much more quickly than complex carbohydrates.

I landed in the hospital the end of Feb/beginning of March for a week from DKA. While I was in the hospital my husband spent hours researching eating and nutrition especially with regards to diabetes. He found your videos and shared them with me when I got out of the hospital. Since then, I have been following a keto all natural diet. I have already noticed that my blood sugar numbers have stayed consistently below 150. In fact I have not had to use insulin R in several weeks. This last week I have added intermittent fasting to my keto eating and have noticed already a decrease in cravings and fatigue. My doctor is on board with the changes that I am making and I am noticing some small changes. I am thankful that my husband found your channel. I am 51, diabetic, menopausal, with some other health issues. I am looking forward to getting healthier and some day even getting off insulin and Metforman completely. I have also noticed that my eyesight, which had deteriorated considerably, has gotten better such that I can once again read. Thank you so much for the information that you are sharing.

I was diagnosed insulin resistant and had to cut carbs and processed sugars in particular. Coming off sugar was so awful, it’s definitely addictive. Definitely hyper aware of what sugar and starches can do to the body now. I never knew what normal felt like until I changed what normal was.

I have been a insulin insulin-dependent diabetic for 32 years and I've been following a 90% strict diet diet and exercise 4 over thirty years and I have no side effects from diabetes.
Listen to this guy he is telling it like it is he's on point and if you take insulin be sure to stick to the plan your life depends on it.
I've also taught others to do the same thing I'm doing which is what he's preaching your body needs more vegetables and stay away from the high fructose corn syrup and read what you put into your body your body will thank you and your body will respond in a positive way.

Wow those advertisements are insane! Years ago my toddlers hated cola or lemonade drinks. People told me to add water to get my babies used to cola or lemonade. I would ask why I needed to get them used to it.

I was not aware. Its been almost 30 days since i've eaten any sugar!! And I feel great so far.
I decided to cut out sugar at age 15 after realising my dad's Type 2 diabetes was the reason for many of his physical ailments. Now 15 years later I still don't eat sweets, I dont even like eating fruits! The benefits of not eating sugar is literally endless--no cavities, No cravings, no weight fluctuations, no mood swings, and I don't ever experience period cramps. Best decision I ever made as a teenager!

I'm a black man. and I know that we black folk just love sugar! LMAO! TRUE THAT!! I still eat a very small amount of it. but for this coming February,.... I am going to avoid all bread, and Apple pies, I don't really drink coke anyways. but i'ma cut the sweet Iced teas. etc. I am going to do a weekly entire day fast. because I cannot meet the demand at my job if I do intermittent fasting. but I am going to drink 8 ounces of Cranberry and Grape juice with one of my daily meals. because I am not really trying to lose much fat. because I hardly have any. I have a really fast metabolism. I'm 7-9 % body fat. but I am more concerned about my health. because I am about to turn 40 years old. and after I did my first completely (DRY) fast for 24 hours,... I felt my body literally eating up all the junk that was inside of me! and for 3 days after that,... (All) my energy increased. Shalom Shalom.

Wow I've been keto for the past 3 months and was looking forward to my cheat day but seeing varying degrees of that poison lined up has me reconsidering. Thanks Dr. Berg! Sugar has been a drug I've been addicted to all my life, and I had the side affects of hypoglycemia. I thought irritability and anxiety were just intrinsic issues, but I figured out the culprit was sugar all along. I no longer am a slave to carbs and sugar. My anxiety and irritability evaporated once I weaned myself off my deadly lifestyle.
This just made me so proud of the fact that I am breastfeeding now knowing that Similiac contains sugar as the first ingredient!

Just discovering in the last couple of years that most the stuff I've been putting in my body the last 50 years isn't actually food....just sugar, chemicals and processed stuff...Now I don't eat anything that doesn't come off a tree, out the ground or from an animal. And virtually NO SUGAR! Videos like these are opening peoples eyes..

I've been on keto (again) for about 7 weeks now. My plan was to get a great blood test (my doc said I am pre-diabetes) and then go on vacation, eating every treat that comes my way! But, as I begin to really feel better, I am starting to re-think the plan. The re-damage I could cause through a "vacation from keto" sounds far less appealing than the benefits I am reaping now.
Thank you Dr. Berg for this information. Everything you have said is true. I had a lifestyle of sugar cravings and I was fat. Yet my sugar cravings were more important than being healthy. Then I had the scare of my life. Emergency room visit. Blood sugar was extremely high. So close to being comatose. I also had a stroke. I was at the time in my late 40's and I had old lady problems. Like I was in a convalescent state. I have watched many of your videos this week. I am a new viewer to your channel. For me, you definitely aren't a fraud. I looked at all the products in this video and sad to admit that I raised my son unhealthy. I was ignorant back then. Raised him the way I had grown up. I couldn't breastfeed him and gave him formula. So pathetic about the formula ingredients. Anyhow, I cut out sugar from my lifestyle. I can now drink green tea without sugar. I never thought that I could give up sugar. I loved all kinds of candy that I would sneak and eat them everyday. Closet sugar addiction is over! Yay! Kale is a great way to end it! Horrible veggie at first. Now I have it everyday! You are a great doctor for sharing this. Thank you again!
I try to live the type of active lifestyle where usually the only liquid I crave is water and sometimes black coffee. I gave up alcohol over a year ago and this year I am going to make a focused effort to limit sugar intake. I watch these videos to keep me on track. Thanks Doc!
Now I know why I was so sick as a child and on antibiotics all the time. This is the only kind of garbage my mother ever fed me. And next was tv dinners, so that wasn't any better. And I wonder why I'm not functioning optimally as an adult even though I'm eating well now and trying to catch upmake up for lost time. Yesterday I was on the gym and after 1 hour of exercises I got thirsty so I got me a gaterode and before I drink it I decided to read the nutritions facts (I never do that)... My surprise 150 calories per bottle? really? I didn't almost killed myself for 1 hour to gain 150 calories in just one drink? I just throw it in a trash can and ended drinking just water.
Geo Gmz The sugars in the Gatorade are there for a reason. They are fast digesting carbs that provide energy intra-workout.
Geo Gmz The sugar shouldn't be a concern for you after a workout, anyway. assuming you were doing weight training, you need simple sugars post workout to replenish glycogen stores (fructose not included...it doesn't replenish muscle glycogen). Most fat burning that occurs with weight lifting takes place after you finish the workout, when you are in a state of EPOC (exercise post oxygen consumption). Gatorade still isn't a great choice. Starchy carbs such as mashed potatoes or dextrose (another name for glucose) are much better and replenish glycogen stores in muscle immediately.
Geo Gmz Gatorade is terrible! It has way too much sugar and also full of artificial colors and flavors. I drink plain water or water with lemon and lime juice in it. I throw the rinds in, too, sometimes.

Just drink mineral water with a pinch of rock salt for added electrolytes. 👍 It's way cheaper too.

Thank you Dr. Berg. In my teens I thought I was being healthy by eating pasta. Also juice instead of soda. It's frustrating that there is so much misinformation out there. That was especially true in the 80's... no internet and taught the food pyramid in school, etc. Awful. You are a gem!

Ah Arizona's. I remember the day I found out those were a dollar. Didn't know it then, but that was a bad day. I did damage with those things. When I think back about the amount I drank without even knowing. When I was a kid my first job was at this smoothie place. They always talked about how it was healthy and a better option. But looking at the nutrition information now, even the smallest drink has too much sugar.

Banana + nut butter + cocoa powder is one of my favorite combos when I'm really wanting something sweet. It's like a peanut butter cup. Better yet, blended in a smoothie with some greens added.

He is so RIGHT! I started eating how he suggests, and I don't get tired during the day, like after lunch. I got rid of the cravings for sweets. We went on a 4 mile run, and while other (even more trained) were hungry after it, I wasn't! Btw I keep eating little amounts of coconut oil during the day. And it doesn't make me fat!
At your suggestion I have cut out sugar from my diet. Based on your videos and ongoing symptoms I have had over the years, I am positive that I have NAFLD. I have been following your suggestions, for several days now, and feel so much better, and have a lot more energy.
I do plan to go to the doctor for a liver scan, when I can afford it. I have been furloughed through my job.
In a side note: No wonder why our society is so hooked on sugar, and Diabetes, and obesity are so common. From birth, we are given sugar-rich baby formula to give us "sustanence", and totally inundated with foods that are killing us.

I drink soda everyday but after watching your videos I stop eating food with sugar. It's been month now without any sugar in my food and I feel healthier and not always feeling hungry anymore.

Even as a kid I hated those
I now eat once a day and only a banana or an orange before going to work. I also cut out all coca cola or all sugary drinks and all candy bars. Results: All facial pimples or ances are nearly gone and psoriasis is improving markedly.

I started this low or no sugar diet less than 2 weeks ago.
i cut out all sugar including anything that turns into sugar in the body like potatos & corn, ect, except the occasional "simple" natural sugar like an apple or a banana, 5 years ago in a desperate attempt to heal my gut from years of damage. i was 40 years old & weighed in at, docs scales, fully dressed, a mere 130lbs, down from a lil over 200lbs, & thats freakin skinny for a 6 ft tall man... my body was shutting down, & according to a doctor, i was slowly dying of malnutrition because my body refused to proces anything i put in it... i went thru honest to god "withdrawal" ...it wasnt pretty & it was difficult... but once i got the sugar outta my system my cravings went away. now 5yrs in, im not where i want to be, but im still eating healthier, havent cheated & had a bite or a sip of anything all this time, & im holding at 170lbs... so thank god & thank god for guys like this fella here speaking the truth... sugar should be on the fda's "controlled substance" list... its killin folks... cancer, althimers, high blood pressure, u wont need blood pressure meds or staton drugs or antiacids if u cut out the sugar... & dont even get me started on those antiacids... i lived on them... horrible for u. every person on the planet make fewer digestive enzymes & less stomach acid as we get older. antiacids are poison, much like sugar. ask urself how many 10yr olds u know that are lactose intolerant vs how many 40yr olds that are lactose intolerant...? prime example cause lactose is the most complex sugar on the planet, & antiacids & antibiotics & gettin older is takin away out ability to process that kinda sugar... ok... ill shutup, but check out the facts for urself folks. god bless & get educated
Thanks Dr Berg for the information about eating sugarcane. Now I know why my gnashers are the way they are. I ate sugarcane well into my late teens. We had sugarcane growing in our garden. I’m 60 now and still have all my 32 teeth and no cavities. My teeth are still naturally white. I last visited the dentist when I was 25. I had an appointment to have my teeth cleaned. Actually my teeth didn’t need cleaning as my oral hygiene was pretty good. I just wanted to treat myself. The dentist took an X-ray of my teeth, and boom! told me my teeth were messed up and I needed to have fillings in all my last 3 back teeth, top and bottom, that meant 12 in total. He made an appointment for me to have it done the following day. I was smart enough to know that I didn’t need any dentist creating a gold mine in my mouth. It’s been 35 years since I set foot in a dentist surgery.

Try using monk fruit sugar it's not really sugar it's a sweetener it just looks and tastes like it and it has no negative effect on your blood it won't give you diabetes or make you addicted like sugar dies it's just pretty expensive a big bag costs 23dollars lol it's also common to see it combined with erythritol but I prefer it without erythritol

I know my aunt just had surgery for stomach cancer and was told to have 6 meals a day and to take ensure.After looking at dr. Berg’s videos I know that will spike her insulin not to mention she had 2/3 of her stomach removed she she can’t eat that often.She also had her kidney removed 2 years ago due to cancer.They gave her all kinds of medication to take.Wish she had a dr like dr Berg to guide her
I'v'e watched doctors do that for years as a nurse! They are thinking it's got nutritional value and will keep weight on you! OUr physicians are medically trained, not nutritionally trained.

Actually Ensure Hi-Protean has way less sugar - to the tune of about 3/4 less (or more in the case of some "nutritional" drinks).
Grandma always reminded us kids how lucky we were to have candy, as she never had candy while growing up. Grandma Never saw the downside.

Yes. It also feeds the brain. Your brain only runs on glucose. Refined sugar is still very unhealthy though.
Brain will only use the body's glucose reserves once the circulating glucose is depleted. Most of the time the brain uses fresh sugars, i.e. derived from a very recent meal or snack.

Dr. Berg is helping me stay on track. As I got older I've realized how much is out there that is actually BAD for you. I know, who knew that you are bombarded with stuff in grocery stores and restaurants that are actually BAD for you. It's opened my eyes; but it's hard to get out of old habits.
I am 28 and have narcolepsy and I am fairly certain excessive sugar somehow played some role in me developing narcolepsy in the 8th grade. My doc said there is a link between Diabetes and Narcolepsy. It all points back to sugar!!!!
I went on the Keto diet, lost 13 lbs so far, and gave up sugar (including fructose, etc.). I've never felt better! It's a bit of an effort however, as like Dr. Berg states, just about everything has a form of sugar in it, so now I have to make my own salad dressings etc. In the long run though, it's worth it:)

I would not eat when I was very young, so the doctor told my to give me Carnation instant breakfast. My diet didn’t improve much at all until sometime in maybe junior high/ high school. How I don’t have a ton of health problems I don’t know. I Praise God that I still don’t . Thankfully, at 57, I am very healthy and just a few middle age jiggles to sort out. Thank God for Dr. berg, who shares such valuable health advice so freely to be preventive medicine to folks like me as well as, help those who have developed conditions from poor eating choices. ❤️

Everything we buy has sugar. If we stop eating foods with sugar there's virtually nothing left. How about a list of foods and beverages that are healthy. I was just diagnosed as pre-diabetic and a dietician told me to have a peanut butter sandwich (because I don't eat breakfast), I looked at the sugar content in Kraft PB and it's 1 gram per Tablespoon. Sugar is in everything. HELP!

This is what happening to me👉 1. I am getting lack of interest in sweets..
2. I don't know why but i am getting some confidence back(may be coz i am achieving something)
3. I can feel my body changing in mirror.
4. My running speed increased.
5. I can put more weight in gym.
6. Sleeping hours got better
7. I am waking up exactly 4 am every day without any issue. (Previously it was hard)
8. Concentration in study increases.
9. My over all calories intake decreased and yes i count my CALORIES
10. Most importantly 👉 I am feeling healthy inside and fit outside.......
