Just wanted to thank you for your educational videos. I just watched the video on adjusting you MCD front windshield shade. I saw the limiting switch for the first time today and began to panic " what is broken now". The shade works as usual, but seeing the switch panicked me into thinking something was wrong. After watching your video and understanding your explanations I soon relaxed to a calm mode and felt much better. There is so much going on in a RV that you are never told about, that it is good to have a kind soul do these much needed videos. ❤
*A lot of viewers have been real thankful for our videos and have ask if there was a way to buy us a Beer. TH-cam now has a ‘THANKS’ button under every video, Just click the button.* 😀 *It’s not required or expected, but it is appreciated. THANK YOU!*
Hi Chuck & Cheryl! We just bought a Jayco Greyhawk 29mv and we are back to camping. We've learned a lot from your videos and just want say thank you! Happy Trails to you.
Aw did you guys give up Rving? No videos. We have been on the road since Aug 30th, took a lap around the country and saw alot of wonderful Nat Parks. We will be heading home some time in February. What an amazing country!
Hey guys! It's been a while since your last post. Everything OK? I always look forward to your vids! We are out for the first time this coming weekend, up the California coast!
Great video....You mentioned you have a surge protection built in to your rig....I have one that plugs in to the pedestal. You might want to mention its always a good idea to plug in surge to check power before pluging in your rig especially in older parks. Also have you ever thought about using quick connects on your water hose and inlet of the rig? You can get them at walmart and it saves a bit of time hooking up.
I have a Progressive Industries Electrical Mgmt Surge Protection system hardwired into my rig and when I plug in to the pedestal it automatically tests for everything before allowing the power to reach the coach. So if there's something amiss it just doesn't allow power and I just check the display for the error/issue code. No pre-testing needed. I just plug in like normal. Really handy and safe.
We've never used the macerator in our rig. Like Dan, we have the external surge guard that we turn on power and cycle, prior to hooking up. Good tips for newbies. Safe travels.
We also leave our gray tank valve open, till a day before we plan to dump the black tank. This last minute closing gives us some soapy water to wash our hose out. If we are breaking camp we go the extra step and physically rinse our sewer hose. (One of our uses for the Y hook up on the water source).
Do you turn off your water pump before hooking to city water? Unless we aren’t understanding from other videos, etc.., turning off your water pump should be done. As newbies, we burned out a water pump when we didn’t know this. Or, maybe it is not sound advice. We did, however, manage to change our water pump ourselves, so that felt good. We’ll take that “fix” over other things that can go wrong 😂. Also, do you turn off your inverter when you are plugged in? We can’t find a clear answer on that, and we don’t want to damage our inverter by accident.
Hi Monica. We always turn off the water pump when connected to the campground or any city water source. The inverter off/on question varies. An inverter takes 12 volts DC power from the batteries and converts it to 120 volt AC electricity. For us the inverter only runs a few outlets for the TV and such, so we hardly ever have it turned on. If you have a residential refrigerator and it doesn’t hold it coolness when going from campground to campground, then we’d say leave it on. Our refrigerator is electric/propane and does not run off the inverter. Not knowing what your RV has running off the inverter and what you use that the inverter would power, it hard for us to answer that question. We have heard some people leave them on so don’t. Sorry we couldn’t be more exact on that answer.
Thanks for your reply! I think we are finally understanding the inverter. I believe we have the same refrigerator you do, not a residential (15 Precept 31UL). So, we just need the inverter for the outlets and tv. Thanks again!
We have a 6 video series on hooking to the Jeep up to Maggie. It includes everything we use and how to install it. The 5th video covers hooking Maggie up. 😀
That's so sweet!! Hanging out in the boat! Make sure you check for leaks. Do I remember a leak on the mercurator hose? Way back when? S__t I need to get a life LOL SAFE TRAVELS
