This is a supremely satisfying video. It's so simple, yet has just the right set up of camera angles and establishing shots. You truly take us with you on your excursions. You don't claim to be an expert, yet you are confident and capable. When things don't go as planned, you adjust. You balance the hiking, camp set up, cooking, and commentary very well; and every time I watch one of your videos my heart aches for the next time I can go out on the trail. So many people fear being alone. You show us that the woods can be a glorious escape from the chaos and confusion of the world. Great job.
About rain water flood concern: it's a good idea to carry some small shovel with you - you can dig a shallow drainage channel around the tarp's perimeter and extend it into a short drain towards the hillside descent. Really helps to prevent you from getting soaked in the middle of the rainy night.
I like how you just go with what you have and make do no fancy high dollar equipment just a will to go and have fun. My brothers and I started with just a sheet of plastic ( leftovers from covering the windows for winter ) and some old kitchen pans mom gave us. We sure had a lot of fun. I’m going to subscribe and see where this goes
Nice to be out in the snow. We had good snow only in March in NW CT last year. The rest of the he state did not get it. We loved the snow. Se had stoves in our canvas tents. 😊
So…. I was feeling skeptical when I saw the poly tarp fresh outta the bag pitched in a regular ole a-frame for a snowstorm. Then I got a little more skeptical when I saw the fire in the beginning. But then, you sealed up the back side of the tarp and whipped out that second tarp to seal up the other end. You ended up makin yourself a pretty sweet little camp there! Got that morning fire goin with some cheesy bread and coffee! Hell ya!! Kudos to you man!, for stickin it out. Take care dude! NQU
I like to improvise as I go haha gotta keep it interesting, but I had a feeling I'd need that second tarp.. but yeah it ended being a pretty sweet little shelter. And thanks!
Look, I always thought that people who love outdoors a bit crazy, it’s always more comfortable to stay at home. But I have so much joy watching your videos and shorts ❤ thank you!
Hey! I really enjoyed this video. Great content; great scenery; great host! Thank you for sharing! I'm going to subscribe just as soon as I finish this comment! I love camping and used to go a lot. I miss it tremendously. I had my dad's huge, thick canvas Army tent with metal poles. Boy, that thing was heavy to carry! I look forward to seeing you again Stay safe, well and warm!😊 🦋Janet English🐞
When u cut wood it warms u twice .. I didn’t get it the first time I heard u say it but when I heard u say it this time I finally got it.. I’m so happy I didn’t use google for the answer , I had definitely considered it but must’ve forgot hahaha
Nice video. No nonsense camping with well thought out materials. My dad was in France during WWII. He said you could make a round cover for a square foxhole with a good tarp, LOL! He and I never went camping, he said he did enough camping in the army to last a lifetime, I subscribed to see how things go. Thanks for the nice video. Cheers Terry Upstate South Carolina
Going try this coming winter. Did something similar in my teens. My two friends and i built a debris shelter. We got a dusting of snow it was exciting. My friend stole some steaks out of his moms deep freezer lol. We cooked them over the fire.
I'm glad you survived without freezing to death..I felt frozen just watching you. Weren't you worried about bears and the like coming by? I would be just terrified to be out there by myself-- but you know what you're doing. I guess that makes a huge difference- because I would be clueless and would need to be rescued 😂😂
Love the videos man if you ever come down south to TN i can show you a southerners camping trip in the smokey mountains always good fun and great food out there
It was in Mar, right? Bears are not out yet? Or no danger from pack of wolves? Appalachians... so the location is in (east) Europe, or somewhere in USA? Thank you very much for showing this video. I enjoyed a lot.
Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the video. Never really been camping or know about 'bannock'(?) bread. Is it cornmeal with leavening? Anyway, don't let mean comments deter you. You're doing great! 🥰🙏💗
Thanks for this great video. Old equipment can be great stuff. It appears you had a great stay in the woods. I like that cheesy bannock. Have you ever considered the Siberian Log Fire? Check it out, from Lars of Survival Russia. (He is Danish...)
For sure, half of my gear is hand me down stuff from family, it works great.. and I always wanted to try that but I haven't yet, I'll check out his videos thanks
I'm going to ask a stupid question. lol. Do you get approached by big cats? Obviously Bears hybernate and im not just talking about in the winter. I am talking about any season
what kind of wood do you have in the forest there it sounds like good hard wood and seems to burn for some time. Im kind of limited to mostly pine and aspen where i live.
good to know that you can survive a snowy night with just two plastic tarpaulins. Didn't you feel a bit cold and how low did the temperature drop at night?
Yep! Only thing that got cold were my toes a couple times, I didn't have my insulated boots on since it was so warm out on my hike in. It got down to the low 20's that night, wind chill was well below that. A quality down-filled sleeping bag makes a world of difference
I love that you pointed that out I thought it was so stupid, I understand why it's done though a lot of TH-camrs and television shows do silly things like that for the experience that typical people get
Sterling job mate camping here in the uk is a touch more safer than you guys have it over the pond especially as you have big predators and more extreme weather
This is the best channel to watch falling asleep. The deep voice, the soothing nature noise, I get to learn something. I’m pretty hooked
😂
Errr are you right in the head? I mean.... IDK but well if you want to fall asleep to this nonsense then OK,
My life is stressful. I watch a lot of bushcraft videos to relax in the evening right before bed. I agree with the fella…….
I completely agree 👍

Don't appreciate it ?

Don't forget to take your Garlic Bread !
Somewhere deep down I want to leave this tech world and join this guy to explore the nature ❤
Do it!
Man’s making better food on a fire with wet wood during a snowstorm than I am in a fully equiped kitchen, what the hell even
Get off your a$$ and start cooking my friend!
I’ll agree that everything tastes better out in the woods… I was camping during the same snow storm. Had a blast
It really does.. that's awesome, the worse the weather the more fun it is
Where precisely in the Appalachians is this? What state?
@@georgeschaut2178I think he's usually in PA

Man I tell ya. Watching this makes me think. I wish I had a log cabin out in the middle of nowhere. Live a happy life
I watch a ton of this content and stumbled upon this video. I really enjoyed all of it (the good, the bad, and the ugly). Great work.
Thank you!
Good setup and food prep. Really enjoyed the scenic footage as well. This area can be unpredictable and your adaptability is good viewing.
Thank you, glad u enjoyed
Yes I really enjoyed your camping trip video. Crisp , original and cozy
Wonderful wonderful videos simple but so infectious
And now I need to try bannock bread, that looks awesome. Great content! Hello from Lewisburg.
Enjoyed another great outing!
I'm addicted to your videos ❤

I enjoy watching yours a lot!! and applying ur technique to my experiences!
Greetings from snowy Finland. Great video! Keep up the good work 🙂
W takich warunkach przetrwac w lesie, to naprawde godne podziwu. Gratuluje👍
Thanks for a great video, really enjoyed watching it. You really do a good job of representing the solitude of camping/survival.
One of the best vids i've seen regarding camping in the snow
cant believe i get to watch this for free, thank you for sharing!!!!
- I *literally* just said it looks like a winter wonderland && than you go ahead && say it. *Great minds think alike* ! 😊
Great video, I liked the vintage wool sleeping bag 👍🏻. I think you did a great job on that cheesy bannock too. Thanks for sharing

19:00 SWEDWOODS is the man of men when it comes to bushcraft. I keep seeing his influence all over bushcraft channels.
That’s a great bread recipe for campfire cooking.
Good channel, looking forward to more of the same.
Pretty simple and easy to make, I love it. And thank you I'll keep them coming

Teniendo chorizo , queso y vino... Buena lumbre y que caiga toda la nieve wue quiera.
brilliant video, it looks so bitter there.
Thank you! Definitely gets cold on the mountain
Great content. You knew snow was coming. I know you were tired, but should have prepped fire wood before nap.
Note for the future. Tuck your tarp under the first tarp to stop the wind from getting under it and blowing your heat away. You're welcome! 👍
Cool video
Pasti dingin sekali.salam dari indonesia
You could do absolutely everything correct and somebody would bitch about it
Nice video. Thank you. Just subscribed.
Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching!
Duck tape... Or even packing tape..for tarp leaks ..rope. Fire starter and what else... Wounds..etc..canuck
If you had no comfy self inflating mattress and wool sleeping bag, you could scrape a heap of those dead leaves together and roll them up in a tarp.
Very good video!!!
I subscribed as well!! 👍
Awesome, thank you!

Damn that’s sick dude is that private property or can you do that right off the trails?
Always bring your portable heater
I’m sorry but no one has ever opened a new blue tarp without the
wind instantly cranking up to 30 mph.🤷♂️
Thanks.

@@WoodsboundOutdoors Western Mountaineering have very good down-filled sleeping bag 850+ Cuin of down.
And less then 1 Kg.
Could you share the gear you bring anywhere?
Any Bear 🐻 action close by?
Your tarp is far too short. It should be at least 3 meters longer. You need a larger and proper ground sheet. I love your video. God bless
Looks so cold😀
Definitely gets cold on the mountain
Bigfoot is lurking 👀
😂😂😂
I like to carry a can of ether starting fluid.
It makes starting a forest fire so much easier. 😶
That definitely gets a fire going haha
Where you are camping looks pretty dry?
Snowstorm and he has on a shirt with the sleeves rolled up ?
Crown royal 😅😅😅
what about a tarp thats reflective and insulated.
What is the recipe for the bread?
Hope you don’t run out of 2x4s …😂
How do you find land to do this on?
I live in West Virginia and trying to build my TH-cam channel and learn bushcraft camping. It would be awesome to do a joint video
What pants are those?
Field and Stream brush pants
Your pack looks very uncomfortable the way it pulls away from your shoulders. Does it not have load lifter adjustments?
Omg hotaf
So you knew there was a snowstorm coming but didn't collect firewood ahead of time? And you didn't cinch your shelter closed from the start?
cannot see the point of filming yourself walking through the woods, everyone knows you have to go back and get your camera
Cinematic experience!
Those who can't make shitty comments on a TH-cam video
