Why not just pin lock the p pump? As long as engine doesn't rotate you don't need to worry about timing.

I had my tappet cover swapped by a shop because it had a bad leak. They installed a billet cover.
Now my truck makes this annoying humming noise that I know is for sure coming from that area by the injector lines but the shop is throwing their hands up saying they don’t know where that noise is coming from.
Any ideas what it might be? The noise gets louder as I step on the gas but doesn’t seem to affect the truck.

Not sure why you would have a humming sound. That usually means a vibration. I would get a mechanical stethoscope and start looking around the engine while at idle and you should be able to find and isolate the culprit

Could you add the link to where you bought the cover from

I think you had the gasket on wrong thin side in and tab towards the front. ANYWAY I gotta do this on my 95- 12 valve...fun fun

unfortunately i did a crap ton of research after it started leaking again and found that the gasket was in fact on the correct way per the manufacturer. So i'm confident that the block and OEM cover had enough warpage that the thin gasket couldn't account for the difference. It could've also been just a faulty gasket but i wasn't going to try the same thing twice to find out.

Did that stop the oil leak?

💯% fixed it…. The factory cover is stamped steel and warps very easily. It’s totally worth the extra money to get a quality billet cover and only have to do this job once.
