What happened to that Joka Tollygunge line sanctioned in 2009 via Thakurpukur ? Can you please reply or make a dedicated video of it. It's almost like vanished but if it have been built it could be a rapid success as this line could have connected the South Parganas with central and north of Kolkata.

That's because, it cost more to build compared to broad guage. And just because everything is built by Indian Railway and our State govt is not contributing a single penny into these projects, they are just saving some money

However, it's not that Govt of WB cannot put some efforts and hard decisions together to enable itself to operate Metros. The thing is, something like Metro doesn't fetch votes. People in Bengal do not vote on the basis of whether a new Metro Line has been completed or new comfortable modern Metro rakes have been provided or not... Votes in WB are earned through social schemes and freebies, which the entire 10 crore population of WB (mostly outside Kolkata) depends upon. People want Bekar Bhata, not Metros... Hence the priority of the state govt. Forget about Metros, Govt is incapable of even operating sufficient Buses! Kolkata has the least number of Govt-run buses among all Metro cities in India. Most of the transportation in WB is controlled by private bus operators who run services as per their willy nilly.

Trains are taking more than 40 mins to enter sealdah. So a huge section of people coming from sealdah north section are getting down at Bidhanahar station in the morning
