In Jason Mesnick's defense though, the Bachelor is a bit of a mindf**k. The guy is dating 30 women. Indecisiveness is inevitable. At the end of the day, Jason put everything on the line for Molly and vice versa, so did she be refusing to be the next Bachelorette. I think it's an epic love story and I am very happy for them. The stars aligned.

You forgot to mention that Melissa's husband was the guy she was dating casually-ish before going on the show and with whom she was already getting back in touch before the TV breakup with Jason, so Melissa wasn't actually that blindsided.
So basically she was just embarrassed due to getting dumped. Very interesting.

She and Jason had actually already been broken up. The breakup onstage was actually producer-driven.

I LOVED Stephanie. She was such a genuine person and she was so kind and accepting when Jason sent her home. I really hope she went on to find true love because I know she deserves it!

I never had any intention to watch this show until they put this season on Netflix and I watched it out of an ironic curiosity...and just got sucked into the franchise from there, it’s so captivating and ridiculous and invigorating.

What I remember the most about this season was, that Molly was the one that got the first impression rose for being the only one that asked Jason how was his son after just introducing herself. It speaks volumes to me that she understood him so well. The other thing that I remember is Jason's mom said that Jason's ex-wife, DeAnna and Melissa have a lot in common and asked him if that was what he wanted. He made a mistake, yeah, as this show stages some of the drama they needed them to suffer. Fortunately, both are happy now.
I remember when Ari broke up with Becca to get back with Lauren, and a few people I knew were shocked because it just was so unheard of. Ah, those sweet summer children, some of us were here for Jason.
Lol. I was one of them and that was truly shocking at the time.
I was in middle school when this season aired and I remember being so pissed at Jason for not picking Molly in the finale. My parents were both on the Jason hate train for dumping Melissa on TV but 12-year-old me was just happy my fave got picked in the end. It's wild how vividly I remember this.

It all happened for a reason. Weird to think if Jason didn’t do that switch a roo, Melissas kids would exist, neither would Jason and Molly’s daughter. Super crazy how life be like that..
Ehh, Melissa was with her current husband before ATFR filmed. From what I remember he even picked her up from the airport when she returned from filming the season
I remember being flabbergasted when he picked Melissa, I thought it was obvious he was in love with Molly. He made a mistake under pressure and then felt more pressure to see it through. I never understood the hate he got.
Maybe Jason has better chemistry with Molly but loved Melissa more, her as a person, in a deep way. It took him a couple weeks to realize he absolutely misses his chemistry with Molly and doesn't want to live without it. But in truth I wouldn't be surprised if he kind of regretted dumping Melissa as much as Molly. The man just couldn't choose, between some difficult factors. I can't blame him.

I think Jason and Molly both have a great deal of confidence: her because she said “I think you’re making a mistake” and she seemed so sincere. And Jason because he said “I think you’re wrong”
That said, Molly was not wrong and I respect how she fought for her relationship. I wonder how much that has to do with Jason getting back with her in the end

Jason Mesnick's season was my first. I have only missed a couple seasons since then. I was so mad at him at how he treated Melissa, but after much watching of this crazy show I feel for him a little. I'm glad he and Molly have made it work.

I remember Melissa referring to herself in the third person on the After the Final Rose. Up till then, I was totally Team Melissa. When she did that, I totally understood she wasn't for Jason. It's weird discovering a major pet peeve like that! To be fair, I do remember thinking it was too bad he couldn't have ended things off camera... but I suspected the show contract wouldn't let him.

Molly seemed more mature, but Melissa was a cheerleader....perhaps Jason wasn't thinking with the right head
It was rumored that they had broken up already before ATFR, but yes production made them have this scene. Maybe it was that the writing was on the wall but neither had made it official, but something about Melissa’s affect in that moment read as rehearsed.

Yeah you can pretty much guarantee they were forced to do it on camera. Im sure when the producers found out they werent working out and were going to end things they were salivating over filming it. I mean thats great tv. The more drama the better. But id be curious to know if they HAD already ended it. Or if they both just knew the writing was on the wall.
@@panicstation7 Yeah i watched this season when it originally aired and i was always team Molly. She just seemed sweet and down to earth. And i felt she was a better fit for Jason. Something about Melissa always bothered me. I think it was that i thought she was kind of fake and immature. So for me when he changed his mind and reconciled with Molly i was super happy. Really glad theyve made it work all this time and seem to be a happy family.
Molly became a radio host in my hometown and I remember how crazy it was hearing about this season

I remember loving Jason and Molly's relationship so much , and when he chose Melissa, I threw my slipper at my TV and yelled at him

omg I remember watching this season live! They made such a huge deal out of making sure people turned in to the after the final rose... when I saw melissa get dumped like that I got so mad that I quit watching the show until about a year ago lol

They had already broken up, yes. They had to televise the "breakup" due to contractual obligations.

The once in a lifetime thing being taken from her is frequent in this franchise. She was naive to say that.
There are many a divorcee, widow/er, or future spouse left standing that probably had amazing proposals. ANYTHING could happen, so to stake so much into the singularity of that moment seems like a recipe for disappointment.
Finally, a season of the Bachelor I actually remember! I remember tuning into the last episode with my sister at someone else's house, and our reactions to the After the Final Rose segment. I always thought Melissa and Jason were right for each other, a perfect partnership whereas Molly was just the ideal wife. I always thought Molly was the desperate kind... It seemed like such a shame at the time.

I believe that Melissa and Jason already broke up mostly and they made them do it again for the cameras. That gave Melissa more time to rehearse. It was terrible breaking up with Melissa on TV, but that was probably not his choice. Should Jason have kept faking it for years? No.

i think the best thing about this season is how jason dumped jillian because she wanted to marry someone who is her best friend, and he didn’t agree with that mindset AND THEN after all this jason said that molly is his best friend that he is so glad he married 🙊
