  • The Starwave 102ED is a good compliment to my 250mm Newtonian...this video explains why, and looks at the scope in some detail. I also show Astronomy.tools calculators, a really useful resource for astronomy and Astrophotography.

    Thank you for sharing. I had the opportunity to witness a rocket launch in 2018. Incredible experience. I posted a pretty fun video of the trip to my page.

    Certainly looks like a well made scope. I was hoping to hear about this 'scopes actual optical performance on astronomical objects as I'm thinking of buying one.

    Hi...have you added an zwo auto focus unit, if so was it straight forward to put on

    I am mainly interested in astrophotography. Having used a canon 700D with flip screen then buying a 5D Mk 2 and finding no flip screen I feel I made a huge error. I find it a real pain in the neck literally to not be able to rotate the image so I can just look down on it.

      Nice camera but I see your issue. Theoretically you could connect to a diagonal with the camera, but the better option would be to use a computer to control the 5d - have a look at APT or SGPro

    Is this a better telescope than the CELESTRON NEXSTAR 8SE? I am new to all this so I am looking for any recommendations.

    Did you end up mounting it on a skywatcher AZ GTi?

      @@MikeyJ really? I just got the same scope as you.... should I sell my HEQ5?! if it site on AZGTI?

    • @MikeyJ
      @MikeyJ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hmmmmm ...well I don’t recall writing that response honestly! No of course you shouldn’t sell the heq5.. v nice mount. Actually I use the smaller 61mm not the 102, on the gti so I might have misspoke on that previous comment ...soz!

      I’ve just acquired a C8 Schmitt cas, which I might try out on the gti with the counterweight bar fitted. It will only be for visual though.. camera and accessories too much added weight

    Is there a way of adding a camera so you view at 990 deg to the scope? (have a bad neck).

    • @MikeyJ
      @MikeyJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trevor, if it’s for visual, then you could add a diagonal very easily, most astronomy shops Sell them. I’ve used mine with various cameras, either a DSLR with the till screen, all the camera connected to a computer

    Any purple fringing or similar issues for visual use?

    • @MikeyJ
      @MikeyJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there is some chromatic shift, not much, but compared to my reflector , noticeable. the new one has FPL53 glass, but I am not unhappy enough to need to change it..it's easy to correct in post processing, and the excellent focuser and framing controls (the built in rotator) make it a very useable scope.

    Beautiful scope! what does it weigh?

    • @MikeyJ
      @MikeyJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks :) with the finder about 4.5kg - only problem is with a camera its above the weight limit on the Star Adventurer or AZ-GTi....but i might still give it a go!
