    Congrats on the new scope! I received mine 2 days ago as well.. Such a nice telescope! Nice to see a video about the AT115 on TH-cam, there're pretty rare!

    Hey James, just wanted to let you know that your liking my image on astrobin really made my week. I'm super jealous of the new scope, definitely going to look into that scope in the future assuming it remains at its fantastic price point.

      Happy to hear this :) I loved the colors of your M42.. hence the like. I think your scope with that camera and mount is an excellent combination. Looking forward to see more.

    Thanks for sharing James.
    Every time I buy new gear I get a 2 week bad weather forcast guaranteed. I wanted an Esprit120 this year ready for galaxy season, but the house move raised some unexpected cash flows so looks like will have to save up again.
    Will be interesting to see what you can do with your new scope and look forward to your vidios and thoughts to come.
    Hope the weather picks up for you so you can give the new toy a good test run.

    My primary imager. I like it, but on targets I don't get much time. The sky has to be clear and calm wind when I happen to be off one day a week. I use it for deep sky and solar with a quark. If the seeing is good the scope and the quark can make some great images in Ha. On deep sky I've found the red filter needs a little focus change when compared to the green and blue with parafocal filters. I use Astronomik deepsky filters.

    • @DSOImager
      @DSOImager  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's also been my experiance the parfocal filters still need adjustment for each. I have a full set of Astronomiks (deepsky and NB) in the FW thats hooked up to my Edge.

    I see that you have a fairly similar setup to my own. I think the only difference is that I don't have a mono camera. This week I finally got around to unboxing my AstroTech reducer. I have been using just a flattener up to this point. I made the discovery that putting this on the scope isn't easy. I see now some of what I failed to notice with fastening directly to focuser, and that I need the M48/M42 adapter. Were you able to find a camera angle rotation solution? I like the work you've done!

    • @DSOImager
      @DSOImager  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I actually have a zwo asi533mc on it currently. I had switched to the OSC for the eclipse and decided to leave it on there to try some osc/broadband imaging with it.
      I have not looked too seriously in getting a rotator. For now I've just been accepting the angle as is.

    Hey James - I wouldn't half mind a refractor at that focal length, those Esprits are fairly pricey though. Look forward to seeing how you go with this. 👍 Say hi to ..was is Thor your 🐈 cat.

    Hi James, great looking scope. I’m sure you will produce some excellent images! Good price point when compared to the esprit 120. I bought my 120 in June last year and it’s gone up £300 since then! I’m looking at getting another scope at some point, around 400mm, thinking of the WO GT71. More clouds to come, sorry! Nice to see Mr Thor😀

      @DSOImager  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Simon.. that esprit 120 you have is going to give you years of great images :) I've heard and seen good things with the gt71. Good old Mr. Thor makes his TH-cam debut, lol.

    Mine looks a bit different ☺️ comes with the 2.5 inch focuser and flattener.
    I have it paired to canon 2000d and can't say I noticed any sag. Yes I adjust my framing rotating the focuser and I kept the final fitting element with two screws and got focus no problems. I got the TS version with fpl51.
    I wish there was a way to attach photos to comments to show what I got and also the first light with the setup 😁.
    Also due to some quality variability I would recommend to buy this scope second hand if the owner can post pictures taken with it 🤠

      I would love to see your pictures. I think youtube hides or deletes comments if they include a link. If you have them posted somewhere, you can email me the link. I have an email address for this channel on the about tab. :)

    Was looking at this scope to pair with my Daystar Quark and 174MM, but had been out of stock for quite some time. Interested to see how it works with DSOs as I also have the 1600MM.

    Congrats on the new scope. That’d be worth at least three weeks of clouds do you think? 😂 Looking forward to seeing the results from this scope.

      Three weeks? I hope not! 😂 It's actually supposed to be clear this coming weekend.

    Thank you for the show... I have the same scope and set up for the last few months, the reducer and my ZWO camera work well. What I cant figure out is how attach my ZWO camera without the reducer. If you know how please tell..

    • @DSOImager
      @DSOImager  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not tried this.. but you'll need to put camera angle adjust back in. Then you would either have to remove the eyepiece holder... or get a 2" nose and slide the camera into the eyepiece holder. If you remove the eyepiece holder.. I think that opening is M53. I don't know what the backfocus is without the reducer. I recommend you reach out to astronomics. I had a couple of questions and got a response from them via email in a couple of days.

    Does this scope focuser produce "sag" ?
    I'm really considering buying this scope. On the Orion ED80CT, it had a similar, if the not the same design and I saw some "sagging" at that focuser and OTA joint.

    • @DSOImager
      @DSOImager  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There isn't any sag that I can see between the focuser and the ota.. but my system does have some tilt in it. I suspect my tilt is coming from the reducer but I have not done any work to narrow it down.
