Linda V: I had the exact same issue when I gently washed a fairly new silhouette mat. It lost all of its stickiness. Very disappointing! I have switched to the NICAPA mats, which are much cheaper and hold up better when cleaned. I have also discovered that using a blow dryer to dry them really helps increase the stickiness.
Tip: if you don't want to throw away your mat, lost its stickiness or something, there's a 2 way glue pen that can be used to make it sticky again, the brand is kuretake zig, I use the 15mm one
WARNING I've had 3 Cameo's so many mats. I recently upgraded to Cameo 4 and after cutting some red card I decided to wash the debris off. I did just what you did, ran it under the tap, the glue disolved completely. I emailed the company who I bought it from who in turn contacted Silhouette for comment. I was told that They now use WATER SOLUBLE GLUE, AND NOT TO WASH THEM. So please review your video, it's not good advice anymore. Sorry.
@@amothemo They started using water soluble glue so you will have to buy a new math. There is videos on how to restick the mat. My advise would but to buy a off brand math. The work just as well. I use NICAPA as well.
I ruined 2 mats just by using water and a sponge. All of the stickyness was gone.. Bought my silhouette in 2023 so it's the new glue version I guess. Gonna shop for some new mats now..

As far as I know you can use this method with cricut mats. I have had Silhouettes for years but use cricut mats also.
