Lovely shiro there mate, a lovely fish on a large scale ! Acers are looking beautiful at this time of year and again just like the fish a lovely size. Go your filter house puts mine to shame 😂 not sure if I missed it but are you heating solely with an electro heater ?
Cheers,🙂 She was the cheapest fish in the pond lol. I bought a much more expensive sanke with breeders certificate that went to ruin didn't grow much and lost all it's beni... 🙄 Yes just a 1kw electro heater, on a timer for 7 hours a day on economy 7 It's the extensive insulation makes it possible to heat 2500 gallons with just a 1kw heater....
Thanks, 👍 The shiro is a real unit lol, eats for two fish! The pond is 3525mm x 2100mm x 1500mm deep It would have been a little bit bigger but I lost 50mm all round for the celotex insulation 🙂
There is mate, but they are mainly used on reef tanks, and have lots of fiddley bits to them. I think Queni Koi were testing out a kH controller while back... I think a good quality pH controller is a better and more reliable bet. My pH controller is a relic of my reefkeeping days, but has been rock solid reliable for over 10 years use. and drifts less than 0.02 in a couple of months with a pinpoint U.S.A. BNC probe.
@@DavesKoiPond thanks Dave, you've just jogged my memory, saw one on the big pond at this years winter event, big white box, and expensive, for some reason got £1200 in my head, might be wrong though
@@marekskoipond9083 At that price it would probably be cheaper to pay someone to test kH manually every day lol! Are you looking to control bicarbonate dosing with it?
Beautiful pond and an excellent update, love the filter set up
Thanks, 🙂
I'd have liked the shower a bit closer to the pond,
But our gardens are small, and makes the noise levels lower.
Nice video 📹 the pond and garden are looking lovely 😍
Thanks 👍
Just making the most of it before the weather turns 🙂
Superb Dave looking great , loving the tree's
Thanks, 👍
Acers and pine trees are a favorite of mine 🙂
your filter house is like something from the star ship enterprise. wow !
Cheers 👍
A bit OCD for a pond I know.
But difficult for me not to do a good job as a semi retired pipefitter 🤣

The back board is just made from a sheet of 18mm marine plywood.
painted with anthracite grey sadolin supadeck RAL 7016
daamn you sure you got enough dechlorinators rofl
Just about.... for all the Chlorine and toxic metals in my tap water 😮
Hi Dave, not sure if I've asked question before, is there such a thing as a permanent kh/alkalinity moniter?.

@@DavesKoiPond I have thought about dosing, got 2 dosing pumps left over from my unsuccessful reefing days
